Lisa is gentle as a lamb. She loves hugs and kisses and tries her very best to make you happy. How could you not love a baby with a smile as wide as her sweet face?Lisa was abandoned on the side of the road with her sister Marge. The temperatures were in the high 90's and these girls had neither food nor water! Someone just left them on the side of the road to die. We tried our darndest to ignore their plight but when I drove by a second time and saw how terrified and hungry they were, we had to help. We brought them food and water in buckets and prayed they would be friendly (since I had heard all the stories about pit bulls). I admit they were leery of us too but as soon as they had a few bites they became our best buddies. Lisa was so thin, and something had caused some serious cuts, but she has never even paused in her outpouring of love and gratitude. What a precious girl. Lisa is especially extra gentle and innocent and loves nothing more than sitting beside you, knowing you are near.Lisa loves kisses and belly rubs, running wide open, and treats. She will make a devoted fur baby to a family that does not have cats or chickens. Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters.The application is the first step. Pleae complete the adoption (or foster) application here: https://www.russellrescuetn.com/application-for-adoption/You will be contacted if further information is needed.  We are 100% volunteer powered. Volunteers process the applications and need time above their personal needs and full-time jobs to process the apps.Please have patience. We do not have any paid staff members. Our adoption fee is $300 which includes spay/neuter, DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies, HW check, and microchip. Russell Rescue dogs are fostered in the Middle Tennessee area. We do not ship/transport our dogs, so the approved adopter must be willing to travel to Tennessee. Russell Rescue will try to first place our rescue dogs locally or in surrounding states.Russell Rescue is not open to the public for visiting hours. I found this lovely girl on the side of the road in middle Tennessee. I have been taking care of her for almost a month. She is up to date on shots. She is the sweetest most loving dog. I currently have other animals and a very busy schedule. I just did not want her to end up in a bad situation. She must sleep on the bed and have endless cuddles. She is great with all animals including livestock and horses. She is good off leash as well. She is good in the kennel as well.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Ben is a sweet, ever so handsome and an independent boy who loves to be near you (he gets SO excited when we come home) but can equally occupy himself. He’s house trained, crate trained and a great eater! He is curious for life, and would likely do best with a home or space with a fence. We’ve not had to crate him, and have had no issues.  He’s got a funny personality, a silly howl (only comes out once in a while, definitely not an issue) and is basically a dream.       $150 adoption fee  Medical Notes: Neutered Received a Proheart 12 injection. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tulip has excellent manners—no counter surfing here! She takes treats gently, and while she sleeps in her crate at night, she would love to snuggle in bed with you too. Tulip is gentle and friendly with dogs of all sizes. Tulip is house-trained and doesn’t mess when left unattended. She’s a big fan of giving kisses and loves playing outside with her toys to burn off her boundless energy. Tulip enjoys the company of other dogs and is wonderful with children, making her an all-around amazing companion. Medical Notes: Tulip was found to have an old and healed fracture through her pelvis. She is able to get around very well and this does not slow her down.  However, because the fracture was not cared for properly this did cause damage to her femoral head on her right side. Our doctor told us she will need FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) surgery at some point in her future. At that time Proverbs will pay for that surgery with our doctor at Cornerstone Animal Hospital in Dickson. Tulip does occasionally get an anti-inflammatory medication called Carprofen on days where she has played a bit too hard. She is also on joint supplements to help support her joints/body. Received a Proheart 12 injection. Proheart provides protection against heartworms for 12 months. Meet Leonidas!  Hi! My name is Leonidas, but all my friends call me Leo. I'm kind of a celebrity around here, but don't worry, it still hasn't gone to my head. I am one of the longest residents here at the Humane Society, I've been in their care since August of 2021. I'm an American Bulldog mix, and the birthday they helped me choose is 08/19/2016. Now that I've got the boring stuff out of the way, let me tell you about me! If you'll indulge me in bragging for a moment, I'll tell you I am one of the BEST huggers you will ever meet. I have never met someone who didn't melt right in my paws. If you give the right first impression, good luck stopping me from giving you a snuggle. I love a good treat, I mean who doesn't? My friends have taught me a lot of basic commands, and if you give me a reward or use a clicker I will listen for sure. I'm also a sucker for a good chew toy. Rubber balls and hard toys are my absolute favorite! My friends like to give me Kongs filled with peanut butter, and I can't get enough of those. I could chew on a good toy for hours, honestly! A couple of things you should know about me are my HUGE fear of storms, for one. Way back before I lived at the shelter, I was shot in the shoulder area and the thunder just reminds me of that way too much. I'm fine now from the gunshot, though, not even a scar! I also want to be the only pet in the home. Other dogs and cats are fun to think about, but I don't actually want to be anywhere near them. I think kids are pretty fun! I love to give them big hugs and kisses, but they should be old enough to understand my boundaries. I can get a nervous if you hold me too firmly, and I know some really little ones don't understand that yet.  Leo is fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped.
