Story
HERE IN CANADA COME MEET HER My granny used to look at my pretty white coat and my soft brown eyes and tell me that I was the diamond in the coal mine. "Never worry, Raye," she'd say, "with a face that pretty there's always going to be a home for you!" I sure hope granny was right, cause boy oh boy! I could use a home about now. I'm looking forward to buckling down and excelling at doggy classes and hopefully making you so proud of me, that you'll never let me go! I need a home without children and without other dogs. Name: Rayse Weight: 60 lbs Age: 3 years Gender: Female Breed: American Bulldog mix Color: White/Brown Good With Adults: People selective Good With Kids: no Good With Other Dogs: Prefers to be the only dog Good With Cats: No, she has high prey drive Housebroken: Yes Crate trained: Yes Energy Level: Medium Can be handled/touched: Yes Barker: some, when she's scared Escape Artist: Yes Food Aggressive: With other dogs Walks on Leash: Pulls Rides well in car: Yes Destructive: no Needs a home with a yard: Yes Needs a home with another dog-Prefers to be the only dog Can live in an apartment: No. Needs a fenced in yard to play in. Foster comments: She barks when she's scared, but as we've been working on her sense of security and confidence, it's happening less and less. For introductions to new adult humans, it's best if it's done outside when she isn't startled by their arrival. She warms up very quickly and is very friendly and playful. Training Update: This girl has come so far in her training and learning to trust people, she is doing basic trainingright now with one of our trainers and is doing great!! Rayse is part of our dog walking group and everyone that takes her on adventures absolutely adore her. When she is in a home she has a few fears but with a patient adopter that will show her leadership she will do very well , Rayse loves to be praised for good behavior and really wants to please . This gir has overcome some really big obstacles in the past few months and is now ready for her happy ending . She would excel in a quite home with lots of love and walks ( she loves the water ) the beach is her favorite. She is on special food which is only 60.00 for a 25lb bag and she is worth it . This girl really deserves her happy tail ending . Come meet her and lets take her for walk and you will see what all of us see!!!

Story
Harley is an eight-year-old American Bulldog weighing about 60 pounds, who came into the world through a friend’s litter.  Over the years, Harley has proven himself to be an easygoing and dependable presence. He lives peacefully with other dogs and has even shared his home temporarily with a cat, taking it all in stride. With children, he has shown to be trustworthy, and when it comes to meeting new people, Harley’s approach is simple: walk up, say hello - sometimes enthusiastically enough to include a friendly jump - and then settle in. He doesn’t bark at visitors; he’s far more interested in making friends. Harley is housetrained, crate trained, and good when left alone. His current family works full-time, and Harley spends his days quietly relaxing with the other dog for company. His  energy level is low, making him an ideal companion for a more relaxed household. He enjoys walks but prefers to keep them short before he’s ready to head home and rest. He walks well both on and off leash, and he also rides comfortably in the car. Being the suave and cool dude he is, handling Harley is simple and straightforward. He tolerates bathing, brushing, and nail trims without fuss and has even been groomed professionally at PetSmart. At the vet, he remains calm and cooperative and he knows basic commands like sit, come, and down. Currently, Harley is eating a raw freeze-dried kibble diet and is fully up to date on all his veterinary care. His ideal home would have a fenced yard. This sweet boy needs a comfortable place to rest, a bit of time outdoors, and people to share his quiet loyalty with. In return, you’ll get that easy kind of love from him; the kind that makes a house a home.     May 13, 2026, 10:27 am

Story
Meet Loki: part marshmallow, part shadow, part undercover goofball. Loki, a 7 y/o American Bulldog located in Toronto, was scheduled to be euthanized. There was no incident, no aggression, no reason to fear him, just a dog who was too scared to show the world who he really is. At the shelter, he didn’t bark or act out, he simply disappeared. Curled up in his bed, head tucked into blankets, hoping the world would leave him alone. A quiet boy, shutting down in a loud place. And then someone gave him a chance. Fast forward to today, and Loki is a lil pudding. Soft, affectionate, and happiest when he knows he’s safe. A master cuddler and nap enthusiast. He’s the kind of sweet that sneaks up on you. When he’s comfortable, his playful side comes out, including, zoomies, squeaky toys (his true passion), and a firm commitment to tug of war. Loki is still building confidence. New people and places can make him nervous, and when he’s nervous he may retreat. With patience and reassurance, he settles and that’s when you see him shine. He was initially more nervous of men but is already making great progress. He will need a home committed to his care, including a strict hypoallergenic diet for his skin and ears. Vet visits are hard for him, but manageable with medication and support. Loki’s dream home is someone patient and kind. Someone who understands that the best things take time. A quieter home would suit him best, with older or dog-savvy kids. He’s fairly indifferent to other dogs, so could live with one, but would also be very happy as your one and only. If you think you could be a match for Loki, visit teamdogrescue.ca/adoptables to apply. 💛

Story
A soft-hearted sweetheart bursting with life, joy, and love, Honey is the kind of dog who will quietly steal your heart and never give it back. This three and half year-old lab cross' happy spirit shines through in everything she does, from her enthusiastic sniff-filled adventures to the way she lights up around her favourite people. In the home, Honey is an absolute dream. She’s calm, affectionate, beautifully behaved, and a total crate superstar. She settles easily, loves being near her people, and has that comforting, gentle presence that makes a house feel more like home. Out in the world, Honey’s happiest place is a quiet park with plenty of room to roam, sniff, and explore at her own pace. Give her open space, a peaceful trail, or a calm suburban stroll, and you’ll see her relaxed, engaged, and happily trotting alongside you with her curious nose to the ground. Watching Honey enjoy the simple things in life like soft grass, fresh air, and a good sniffing route is pure happiness. Honey is a sensitive girl, and busy streets full of noise, traffic, bikes, and close-up dogs can feel overstimulating for her. Because of this, she’s looking for a patient, dog-savvy adopter who lives in a quieter suburban or country setting and can help her manage her leash reactivity. The beautiful thing? Through it all, her love for people never wavers. Her temperament with humans is truly exceptional as she is sweet, trusting, affectionate, and full of heart. Honey doesn’t need a perfect home, but she does need one where close encounters with the canine kind will be minimal. In return, Honey promises unwavering loyalty, joyful adventures, endless cuddles, and the kind of love that feels extra special because it’s been earned. Story
Another bright star from our constellation-themed litter of seven, Dorado is ready to chart a course straight into your heart. He came into the shelter with his mom (a Malinois mix) and his littermates. With a mix of looks across the litter — some bully-type, some boxer-like, even a few fluffier siblings, Dorado brings his own unique style to this cosmic crew. At just 2 months old, Dorado is already a confident, go-all-in kind of puppy. He isn’t afraid of anything and lives life at full speed — running, rumbling, and playing hard before happily seeking out affection and attention from his people. He’s outgoing, stable during handling, and thrives on interaction, making him a fun and engaging companion for someone ready to keep up with him. Dorado is both food motivated and toy motivated, which is a dream combination for training. Whether you’re working with treats or a favorite tug toy, he’s eager to learn and ready to engage. With consistency and positive reinforcement, he has excellent potential to grow into a well-trained and responsive adult. That said, Dorado is not a low-maintenance puppy. With his Malinois mix background, adopters should expect a smart, driven, and energetic dog who will need: Daily physical exercise (not just a quick walk!) Mental enrichment like training sessions, puzzle toys, and structured play Clear structure, boundaries, and consistent expectations Early and ongoing socialization in a controlled, positive way He will do best with a confident handler who can be firm but fair, guiding him with patience and consistency while channeling his energy into appropriate outlets. Like all puppies, Dorado will also need help navigating the basics of growing up: House training and crate training will take time and routine Teething means lots of chewing—he’ll need proper outlets Puppy manners (like no jumping or nipping) will need to be taught Ongoing training is essential, especially for a strong, intelligent dog Dorado is looking for an active, patient family that understands the commitment of raising a puppy—especially one who will likely grow into a larger, powerful dog with working-breed traits. Experience with high-energy or working breeds is a bonus, but dedication to training and enrichment is a must. In return, you’ll get a loyal, playful, and driven companion who will bring energy, fun, and endless personality into your life . If you’re ready to match his pace and help guide him to become his best self, Dorado is ready to be your adventure partner. Please complete an adoption application: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Dorado is too young to have certain procedures done, including a neuter. His adopters must be willing to return him for this surgery, which is included in the adoption fee. Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. This allows our Adoption Staff to spend quality time with each potential home to ensure the most successful matches are made between the animals and their new families. *Please note: we only adopt within Ontario
