Story
Poor Dolly was found roaming stray and taken in by our local Animal Control. She has clearly lived a very neglected life- she has had many many litters, her teeth are in terrible condition, her coat was just filthy, and a funny looking back end from having way too many puppies. Of course, nobody came forward to claim her. Unfortunately, when little Dolly was being led out of her kennel she pulled towards some kibble on the floor in another kennel and other small dog pushed her head through the bars and grabbed Dolly's nose and upper lip, causing a big injury. Sadly, the shelter was not able to financially support Dolly's medical issues, and as no rescue had come forward for her yet, she was marked for euthanasia the next day. Thankfully we were made aware of her and pulled her into rescue just in time! Despite her clear neglect in her previous life, Dolly is the absolute sweetest little girl and just loves people so much! She is so gentle, loves climbing on people's laps and rolling over for belly rubs. She was so patient when shelter staff gave her baths, and is so gentle taking food! She has tested neutral/passive with other dogs but not a match for a home with cats or small animals. Dolly has done very well with all people that she's met, including kids! She can jump up a bit, so if her forever home has kids, the parents will have to be realistic about managing dog-child interactions... especially if little kids have food! Dolly is incredibly food motivated and while she does not have any food aggression issues with people, we don't think she's above trying to steal easy snacks for loose little fingers! Dolly is crate trained and housetrained. She is very well behaved in her crate and is used to being crated for an 8 hour workday without issues. Now that she's feeling better, Dolly can be quite hyper when her people come home and it's time to come out of her crate, and she can be pushy at thresholds. She is working on calmness coming out of the crate, at doors, jumping up and being pushy for food. Dolly's one true love is food! She is working on her basic commands without food as a motivation, but is very easy to train with food! She is quick to pop into commands asked, but does need work on duration and holding commands. It seems like Dolly has had very little training in her previous life, but she is very happy and eager to please. She will try being pushy for food and has attempted to counter surf, so she will need a forever family that can work on this behaviour and ensure she doesn't successfully snag anything yummy! Counter surfing can be a tough habit to break once pups have had success at it! Despite being a small girl, Dolly is quite strong and doesn't mind putting her full weight into pulling towards things that she wants. She needs some work on her leash skills, and being calm and well behaved in public. Dolly just thinks that everyone is her best friend, and the world revolves around her! Dolly is looking for a forever family that can spoil her and give her the cushiest, healthiest and most loving lifestyle that she never had in her previous life! She will need someone confident who can work on her basic training, and help her be the best behaved version of herself! DOLLY FIRST IMPRESSIONS: 45lb (f) American Bully - Good with dogs (passive, neutral) - No cats - Best with no small prey animals (was good with chickens when standing still, but prey drive kicked in when they flapped/flew) - Loves all people, good with strangers -Good with kids -Medium energy. Capable of being calm, but very excited by food - Needs work on leash, but hates walks (unsure if doesn't like winter, or being outside in general) -Housetrained -Crate trained -Good in car (likes shotgun!) - Very smart, loves to please, food motivated, learns quickly -Curious, loves training games, loves engagement food toys - Not interested in stuffies/balls -Non-vocal -Can be pushy about doors, working on calmness with thresholds -Affectionate, sweet, loving - Jumps up gently for affection, or checking out tables- working on keeping 4 on the floor -Good for showers/tubs -A little shy, but curious of new people/places/dogs. Dolly is new to our home, so this may just be part of her decompression and transition to a new environment. It's always best to take it slow during the first few weeks to set new dogs up for success Needs work: - Calmness at thresholds - Patience for food - Keeping 4 on the floor - Learning walks are fun! Dolly is looking for a forever home that can commit to slow introductions for the transition period, taking her to vet appts and manage her post-surgery care. She would benefit from lots of enrichment activity, indoor play, and love! Dolly is a really smart girl and a quick learner, so the areas she needs work should be very easy for her with an attentive foster person giving her feedback. She's already shown a lot of progress in just the couple days that she's been here. Please email molsonsfosterfriends@gmail.com for an adoption application!

Story
Big bold Colt is looking for his forever home! This wild young guy kind of reminds of us of a young powerhorse... a colt if you will! Colt is an energetic, young, happy go lucky guy who wants to be included in every adventure! He is a 0 to 100 kind of guy - likes to snuggle up on a cozy bed with his people, and then likes to move full speed onto the next thing to do! Colt needs to work on walking through the house at a calm pace, as he has been known to enthusiastically slide on the hardwood floors as a repercussion of his top-speed antics! Colt came from a very unstable, negligent household who evidently did not spend much time on training or structure. Despite his rocky upbringing, Colt is a very happy and affectionate boy who loves everyone that he meets! He is very enthusiastic and likes to jump up, give kisses and lean on people for affection. Colt is working on keeping 4 on the floor and receiving affection calmly. Colt can be great friends with other dogs, but would do best with proper introductions. He can be a bit insecure and show tense body language when meeting new dogs (especially male dogs), but with slow introductions loves to engage in appropriate play. He is high energy and enjoys the company of other happy-go-lucky big solid bully breeds! Colt can be very intimidating to insecure or small breeds, and will keep advancing and be pushy if they show fearful behaviour. He requires a home without small animals, and responsible owners who will not let him roam off leash, visit dog parks, or put him in situations that set him up for failure. He is a bulldog through and through, and is looking for a bulldog experienced home that understands and respects the breed. Colt loves food and loves to please, and follows commands well! He knows sit, down, paw, "place", go to crate on command, and is learning to sit at all doors. He is working at duration during training, and not jumping up out of excitement. Colt does have a stubborn streak, and if he thinks he is in trouble can be quite avoidant of commands. Using kibble in these situations can be very helpful to get him on track and let him know he's not in trouble, he just needs some more direction. Colt is looking for a forever home who can invest in his training to help him become the best version of himself! Outside, Colt is very happy and playful! He is a high energy boy who would love dog sports like canicross! He needs a lot of work on his leash skills - he knows he's a strong boy, and he sure loves adventure! He hasn't been too interested in fetch or playing with toys so far, but we are still learning what he loves and more ways to keep him engaged. He loves bones and kongs, but hasn't quite figured out toys like kibble filled roller-balls. Colt can try to run around the house full-tilt, but does very well holding the "place" command. Structure will be really important in his new home to tap into his off-switch and help him relax. On place, Colt is very calm, relaxed and loves to cuddle! This big love bug loves belly rubs, kisses and just being beside his people. He is incredibly affectionate and wins over everybody that he meets! Colt is being fostered in Flamborough, Ontario with 2 working adults, and 3 male neutered dogs. His best friend is another young big pushy happy-go-lucky balanced bulldog who he can play with, but he is also respectful of his happy-go-lucky but frail senior golden retriever's space. When Colt first arrived he would posture and show tense intimidating body language with his other foster brother who is insecure and does not like new intact dogs, but his foster parents kept him on leash to ensure space and advocate for both dogs, and now they get along well. COLT FIRST IMPRESSIONS: 2yo (m) Bulldog X - 65lbs -Good with large dogs, needs proper introductions -No cats, small animals, small dogs -Loves everybody, every stranger is his new best friend -Kids 15+. Colt likes kids, but is a lot of dog and likes to body-check and lean on people -Needs work on leash - making excellent progress in care! -Crate trained -Housetrained -Great food drive, loves training -Very affectionate -High energy -Barks to alert strangers, but quiet in normal routine -Good in car, likes to sit beside his people and get pets like a best friend (foster home has a van with no center console, so he can be right beside mom!) -Very smart, loves to please -Can be stubborn -Curious, likes to investigate everything! Needs work: -Leash work -Stubbornness -General commands/training -4 on the floor All adoption inquiries: molsonsfosterfriends@gmail.com

Story
Diamond has been with us 3 years, and in those years only 1 application that was not a match has come in. This girl is a firecracker and super high energy, but she's got the sweetest side. She makes us laugh daily and we wouldn't change a thing about her! Diamond's adoption has been donated by an amazing sponsor. All we want is to find her a loving family and home. https://form.jotform.com/213266369147057 Or you can reach out to myself Jen@fightagainstbreedracism.com or Kari, Kari@fightagainstbreedracism.com for any questions you may have. Name: Diamond Breed: American Bulldog X Weight: 47.50 lbs Gender: Spayed/Female Age: 4 years old Energy Level: Medium to High Medical: UTD Good with dogs: Selective. Social outside but don't think indoors she'd do good in a home with another dog. Unless someone was experiencing and took the time it takes to work with her. She does love to play with her rescue friends. Good with cats: No has a high prey drive for all small animals Good with kids: No young children due to her energy. Good with strangers: yes gets overly excited Guarding issues: None that have been seen Behavioural issues: can have separation anxiety in new environments. And will be destructive if left alone too long. House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Leash skills: still a working progress, but has come a long way since she first came to us. Pulls a lot and will try to go after small animals if she sees them. Will need someone that can control/handle her. Walks way better with a martingale. Okay with manipulations: Yes, always willing to please. Notes: Diamond is a very sweet, affectionate girl who is eager to please. She has shown to be food motivated which is a bonus for training. Diamond gets very overstimulated and excited fast. She will jump up and grab at you or the leash but she listens if you are firm with her. Diamond is your perfect companion if your looking for a dog who can keep up with an active lifestyle!

Story
Hanky Panky is our shelter goof ball! Big, Strong, Clumbsy, Highly Active, Playful, Foodie ... these are all terms that fits perfectly for Hank! Hank arrived to our shelter as a stray and so his history is a little unclear. While he has been staying with us we find Hank to be an Adult that hasn`t outgrown his puppy behaviour quite yet! You can often find Hank in the park running around, playing fetch, tug-o-war or simply just seeking some affection. He loves to be by your side and if treats are involved - He`s in! Hank loves to make friends, but is shy at first. He does take a few moments and yummy treats to open him up and taking that step to becoming your best friend. Once he feels safe, you`ll see him bounce off the walls for you to show how much your friendship means to him! Training is a work in progress and will require ongoing work with basic training and manners, as well as socialization. Hank would do best in a home with experienced owners who are comfortable with training a strong boy and an understanding of behavioural cues. He would also do best as the only pet in the home at this time. If you`re ready for our goof Hank please contact Toronto Animal Services - West Shelter at 416-338-6271 to start the adoption process.

Story
Scooby Dooby Doo, Where are you??He`s right here at Toronto Animal Services West Region as a matter of fact! This charming, active and goofy young boy brings all the fun, thrills and excitement of his namesake cartoon character. So be prepared for unexpected adventures around every corner!Mr Scoob LOVES to be around his people; whether it`s going for a nice long walk, engaging in a wrestling match, playing a game of fetch or tug in the park, or having a snooze in front of the TV. He`s gonna be your new best friend!A typical Bully-breed dog through and through, Scoob thinks nothing of leaping up into your lap and smothering you with sloppy kisses. His enthusiasm and zest for life is evident in the way he eagerly drags us out to the park every time we walk, and how he jumps up to greet everyone he encounters.Family`s with young children may find him a bit too boisterous. Though he has not met a doggie playmate here at the shelter, we feel a nice careful introduction to other well-mannered dogs may result in an excellent play session. When it comes to cats - we have no idea how that may pan out.Scoob is a little on the lean side, and could benefit from putting on a couple pounds. Scoob was recently neutered and is still recovering. He is currently wearing a satellite dish (much to his displeasure) to speed up recovery time! For more information on Scoob`s quirks and charms, and to learn about our adoption process, please contact our West Region shelter at 416-338-PAWS (7297). We are open from 10:30AM to 6:30PM!

Story
Pepe- Wiggly, Wagging, One of a Kind, This friendly guy meets everyone with a wiggly body and wagging tail. Pepe is a high energy pup that’s looking for an active family that is wiling to invest in his training, socialization and provide plenty of daily exercise and attention. A one of a kind pup with those distinctive ears!ABOUT PEPE:Believed to be an American Bulldog MixApproximately 4 year old neutered male, weighing 19 kg / 40 poundsPepe craves human interaction, he’s friendly with everyone he meets Food motivated and eager to learn new thingsHe is microchipped and up to date on his vaccinationsPEPE’S IDEAL HOME:Active family prepared to invest in his basic training, socialization and regular daily exercise and fun activitiesHe knows sit and is learning to walk well on leash but will need more training and supervision to make a successful transition into a new home environmentA home with direct access to a yard would be ideal to help with his training He hasn’t shown any reactivity to other dogs while in our care and seems eager to meet them. So he maybe ok in a home with another dog provided there is a slow and supervised introduction. We are not recommending Pepe for a home with cats, small animals or young children (under 12 years) because he hasn’t been tested. He may have a prey drive because he’s hard on stuffed toys at the shelter. If you are looking for a one of a kind, friendly companion and are committed to furthering his training, please submit an online application.
