**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Lily. I'm about 4 years old and I weigh about 83 lbs. I was found as a stray in pretty rough shape by a kind gentleman that took me in and cared for me. Soon after my arrival to his place, I gave birth to 8 puppies. He cared for us all as long as he could, then brought us in to the pound so we could be vetted and find loving families to join. Of course, puppies find homes super fast, so my babies have all been adopted, but I am still here at the pound looking for a family to join. I am a super sweet, loving and affectionate girl. I have a pretty calm demeanor for the most part, but I do get spurts of playfulness. I have been good around the other dogs that I've met here at the pound and I was an excellent mama to all of my babies, but thankfully I am now spayed, so no more baby raising for me! I am very clean in my kennel and I appear to be housebroken. If you're looking for a great dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
So when the photographer said to smile, seems our boy Hank thought she said "Look sexy!!" LOL  Please allow me to introduce this incredibly handsome and sweet 3 year old boy who is looking for a new home and family that will give him more love than he's ever known. Hank is 67lbs, and has the most gorgeous brindle colors. He is crate trained/house trained, and has been an exceptional guest in his foster home. Hank would LOVE a tall privacy fence so he can do his hilarious zoomies playing in the yard, but if no fence, we would consider adopting to a family that is active and enjoys hikes and doing any fun activities outside the home. He walks well on a harness, but if he sees a furry critter that needs to be chased, it's on. LOL  Hank has done well with meeting other dogs, but a meet and greet is required to ensure a smooth transaction into a new home. We don't know how he is with cats, but his foster mom thinks he has potential because he's a really good dog. If you would like to adopt Hank, please fill out an application at pawsandprayers.org. His adoption fee is $100, and includes up to date vaccines, his neuter surgery, and he will also be microchipped. Please email  sswank1@gmail.com after you have completed the application, or if you have any questions.February 26, 2025, 7:39 pm
