Story
It's been quite the Journey—in fact, that's where I got my name. Neglected, starved and left in an outdoor kennel with no covering for the first 12+ months of my life, a humane officer brought me an Ohio dog pound where I served 17+ months. Now I’m living in a foster home learning to live in a house, be on a schedule, and lots of love. Follow me @DeafDogJourney on Instagram. I might be an American Bulldog Terrier mix. I have a heart-shaped spot on my side, a diamond around my eye, and my eyeliner is always on fleek. I'm DEAF, but I know how to sit by touch, and come by signal. If I like you, I LOVE you. I prefer not to be alone and I’m very affectionate. I learned how to chew on a bone, not fear the bathtub, and recently passed my cat test. I do not have a bite history or show any signs of food aggression. I love daily walks and jogging with you. I do pull on the leash, and I'm very STRONG, so you need to be a strong, patient handler. It takes quite of bit of walking to get me tired. I will need leash/deaf training. I'm a happy dog, but unfortunately, I don't like everybody. I'm stranger reactive and dog selective, so in-person meet-and-greets with me are required. I will bark at new people and new dogs. I would do best in a home with no other dogs, but the right female sibling MIGHT be OK. Kids usually bring other kids around, so because I'm stranger reactive, a home without kids is best. I love the water, but I'm prone to ear infections. Fetch isn't my thing, and I get itchies from the grass. Finding any home is easy—finding the right permanent home is hard. My team is determined to make sure the rest of my Journey is a happy one. An adopter a few hours of Zanesville, Ohio is not required, but preferred for a pre-home visit. I require a strong, protective pawrent who knows I can be unpredictable with strangers and dogs, and can dedicate time to training.

Story
Where are all my XL Bully lovers at? Well, we’d like to introduce you to our lion, Dandelion. 🌼🌼 Dandelion is a svelte 3-year old XL Bully who has a body of a slinky lion but the disposition of a delicate flower. Dandy is a big ole softy through and through. She’s really sweetheart with a heart of true gold. She’s great in the crate and potty trained. She has a great appetite now that we have figured out her diet. Dandy loves chewing on elk antlers and cuddling with stuffys. She has spouts of energy with zoom-ies and full body spins but for the most part would prefer to lay around and nap. Dandelion doesn’t seem at all interested in getting up on furniture or beds and would prefer to lay on the floor. Due to her size (her range will be about 100-120lb) we are recommending no small dogs or cats and no small children. In terms of friendliness Dandelion is the absolute best. She’s shy at first but she wants to love and be loved. We hope with the right patient owner she will flourish. She would benefit with training, from a basic understanding of controlling her own strength when she gets excited to being able to control herself with another dog in the house consistently. Throughout her time in her foster home she has worked on leash skills with prong, muzzle conditioning, and crate training. She has begun to co-exist with the dogs in the house and has small amounts of play time. We believe with more time and energy spent she will be able to co-exist and live with another dog. But, the adopter who applies needs to be aware that this will not be an immediate thing and will need to be a slow introduction, worked on over time and training. You can see it in her eyes and soul she wants to love on humans and dogs, she has so much energy to give she just hasn’t figured out how to to harness it all into appropriate amounts. She’s worth it. She’s worth the time and love. Her squishy lips and adorable face will melt anyone’s heart. Apply today to come see for yourself!!

Story
Oakey Dokey ❤ ❤ ❤ What a befitting nickname! This is pretty much Oakley’s attitude! He is just an easy-going dude. Car rides, walks, hikes, or even just lounging on the couch, being lazy, doing nothing, Oakley is IN! Wherever you are, he chooses to be right there with you! Oakley is fiercely loyal, and when he loves, he loves deeply. He gives you his all. Alone time? Forget it! Oakley will want to be right where you are! Always your sidekick. Be forewarned, he also has a tendency to park his almost 90lb body in your lap and do the cuddles and snuggles ❤ Oakley keeps up on walks and hikes. Don’t walk anywhere near water though, if you are not prepared for the consequences. Oakley will think nothing of jumping in the water! If there are ducks or geese, he will give chase. Oakley thinks chasing after small creatures is just the coolest thing! He will need a thorough wipe down or bath after all these adventures. You see, Oakley has a long list of allergies. Amongst them are grass and trees. Other adorable things Oakley does is bring you his favorite toys (stuffies are his favorite) and ball. He carries them around in his mouth, everywhere. He treats them like they are his babies 😊 Oakley is 4 years old, 90lb American Bulldog. Having been disappointed by humans many times, Oakley takes a little bit to warm up to strangers (treats help) but once he inducts you into his circle, you’re in for life! Oakley is looking for a semi-active family with a good blend of activities and chill time. Oakley prefers to be the only pet in the house as nothing makes him happier than to soak up all your love and attention. This kid will give back twice as much ❤
