Story
Dog Name: Charlie
Breed: American Bully
Sex: F
Age: She will be 4 in November.
Weight: 60 lbs ish.
Medical Needs: None
Housebroken: Yes, as long as kept on a regular schedule.
Crate trained: Yes, she loves her crate. She spends a lot of time in there relaxing throughout the day with the door open.
Good in the car: Charlie rides pretty well, but should be tethered to something so she isn’t climbing all over the car and you.
Good on a leash: With a prong, yes. Without it she weaves all over and will pull, especially if she sees something that excites her.
Energy level: She’s either at a 2 or a 10 . She chills with the best of them most of the time, but when she gets a wild hair up her arse…watch out. My girl is coming in hot, and has absolutely no regard for your knees.
Need a fenced in yard: Yes. There’s no way she’d be able to do her zoomies while leashed.
Dog Friendly: She’s done well with everyone in the household, except our resident HBIC.
Charlie should not be placed in a home with an assertive female.
If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Yes, Charlie is a scaredy cat, and needs a friend to show her everything is ok in new settings.
Cat Friendly? Yes, but will pounce at and chase for fun
Charlie is easily redirected when she does this.
Kid Friendly: Our youngest is 9 and she does well with him.
If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Age 8 and up. As mentioned earlier, she can be a big baby, so kids old enough to understand to give her space as she’s acclimating would be best.
Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them?
Charlie came to us from a breeder surrender in 2021 with 17 other kennel mates.
She was adopted, and is very loved by the family that fostered her when she first came up.
Since then, there have been many significant life changes for her family. Changes that are preventing Charlie from living her best life
For that reason, we have decided to find her the forever home that’s best for her.
Charlie came to us rather unsocialized, with a bit of stranger danger.
She has made a lot of progress over the past 3 years, but she can still be weary of both new people and loud boisterous males. Our guess is this goes back to whatever she experienced prior to coming to GRR.
Charlie is an absolute gem. She’s affectionate, comical and so much fun to be around. She deserves the best, and we just can’t give it to her here…
We are hoping to find her a low key family that loves and appreciates Bullies as much as we do.
Also hoping her new family isn’t far from Milton so we are close enough to offer support if needed.
