Story
Meet Lobster!-3-ish month old mixed breed (Bulldog x Staffie is our guess!) -Expected to be a large dog (mom is 70lbs and dad is 120lbs!)-Lived outdoors in previous home so adopters will need to be patient in the transition of them living indoors-History living with children ages 2 to 5 years old-Likely not house trained and will need to work on other life skills and manners (think being left alone/crate training, walking on leash, potty training)-Adopters should plan on positive reinforcement training and management to help these puppies acclimate to their new home. They are not house trained and are still learning various life skills and manners. With time, treats and toys – we anticipate that they will learn modern day dog skills to prepare them for adulthood-Have met other dogs and are a little cautious but with a slow introduction and managed interactions, could live with a resident pup-No history with catsNow through December 23rd – the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is hosting “Home for the Holidays”. This adoption event reduces the adoption fee for all cats, rabbits and dogs to $50.Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Looks like: Bull Dog mix Male, 4 years old (estimated), 45 pounds Sir Ferdinand is a charming gent who would love nothing more than to be the star of your home. He's your typical Bull Dog -- he has slobbery kisses to share with anyone he meets. He also has the typical Bull Dog medical needs. Ferdinand loves to play, and would do beautifully in a home where he can can get out all of his energy! He likes to chew and play, and he will need a patient home where his guardians can provide him with proper dog stimulation -- toys, licky mats, and puzzles galore! We love this goofy guy, and know you will too! This bowling ball of a boy came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after he was picked up as a stray. They needed a rescue to take on his medical needs, which was only possible with the kind of help our dogs get in their foster homes.

Story
Violet is the most joyful and lovable gal! She is SO happy to be alive and makes sure you know how grateful she is every second! Having a bad day? Violets smile will light up the WHOLE room. She is a cuddly girl that is happy to be around her person and will be happy to do anything with you! Want a chill day on the couch? Vi approves! Want to take a 3 hour hike? Vi also approves! She is a very adaptable gal! Violet is searching for her new bff! Could that be you? Violet is a smaller pittie mix, around 55lbs and is all muscle! She is a young dog but clearly has been bred multiple times. She has done great with other dogs her size or bigger with slow introductions. Violet is fully potty trained, leash trained, crate trained, and will happily nap in her crate if you need to leave her home while you go out. She is energetic and loves to play just as much as she loves to snuggle! Violet has some prey drive to small animals so no small dogs or cats. Because of how jumpy and mouthy she can get when she plays or gets excited, we believe she would do best and thrive in a home with kits 10+ only. She has been working on this with a trainer and has improved so so much! Violet has spent 6 weeks with a credible balanced trainer @boooshank (IG) and has made a lot of progress and learning to slow down and think before just acting, which is HUGE for her. She has struggled with being bale to control her impulses because of her prey drive but with working with @boooshank, she has been able to let the chickens be friends and not want to eat them when walking by! Whoever takes a chance on Violet gets a lot of AMAZING training perks from her trainer Lee! Violet comes with lifetime assistance from him, group classes for her whole life and 1:1 lessons, boarding options and priority swimming pool slots! Violet is currently being fostered in Woodland, CA. If you would like to meet Violet, please fill out an adoption application on our website www.californiabullyrescue.org/adopt.

Story
Nugget is an introvert's best friend! He's medium energy, loves going out for walks and he walks well on leash, is crate trained, and respects established thresholds. He enjoys sunbathing, splooting, rolling around in the grass, chasing the water hose / sprinkler, napping after exercise, and is very food motivated. Nugget is slow to trust - he needs time to get to know you and does best in a calm, structured environment. While Nugs is not a social butterfly, when he bonds with someone he bonds for life. Once he trusts you he turns into a giant cuddle bug who melts when given affection. Nugs is dog friendly, and responds well to slow introductions. If you would like to meet Nugget, please fill out our adoption application on our website www.cabullyrescue.org/adopt Location: Lakewood, CA

I am a small and friendly Boxer-Pit mix in need of a foster or forever home. I was saved from a California shelter, and weigh about 51 lbs. I do well with my doggy neighbors at my current location, and have been a model citizen. I would love human companionship, since I welcome human attention and affection, and would love to go for walks, hikes or other outings. Can you open your home and heart to me? I really have waited too long for someone to choose me. Please email for an application.

Story
Meet Frankfurt!-4 year old intact male English Bulldog -Weighs about 58#-No history from previous home as he came in as a stray-Upon intake, staff observed that Frankfurt is not so steady on his feet at all times. Medical staff observed him and suspect he has some sort of neurological condition that causes him to have severe ataxia with intermittent stumbling. -Ideal home would be a dog savvy adopter who will provide significant lifestyle modifications in the home including but not limited to: carpet/non-slip floors and fall protection-Interested adopters will need a consultation with medical staff to provide them will information to make an informed decision prior to falling in love with Frankfurt’s endearing personality-In Shelter, he has been observed trying to play with dogs of various sizes and sexes. Some dogs are a little unsure of him due to his unsteady movements. Any resident dogs are recommended to meet in the Shelter prior to adoption-No history with children or catsNow through December 23rd – the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is hosting “Home for the Holidays”.
