  Meet Avalanche, a gentle Malamute giant with a heart full of love! This 3-year-old, 75-pound sweetheart came from a heartbreaking abandonment case where he was chained up and left behind with several other animals. Despite his tough past, Avalanche has kept his kind and loving spirit with a smile on his face at all times. He thrives on attention and will happily soak up all the affection you can give him. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and also cat, as there were many that lived on the property where he was abandoned.        This smart boy already knows how to sit and lay down and he's ready to learn more if you are willing to teach him.  Avalanche he’s heartworm negative—healthy and ready to start his next chapter.  He is patiently waiting for a forever home where he can experience the love and freedom he’s always deserved. Story
Penelope, affectionately known as Pen, has had a tough start in life. Rescued from a Texas shelter with an embedded collar, she endured a long stay in veterinary boarding to heal before being fostered by a vet tech. While her first foster home didn’t turn out to be the best fit, it led her to where she is now—a home with four other dogs of various sizes who have helped her gain confidence and come out of her shell. Penelope is a gentle and timid girl who is still nervous around new people. She needs slow introductions, plenty of time to decompress, and a patient family who will help her feel safe. She doesn’t have the typical German Shepherd personality—she doesn’t bark at strangers and is more likely to run and hide. Because of this, Penelope would thrive in a quiet home with other dogs to guide her and no children, as she finds them overwhelming. Penelope was reported to chase cats in her first foster home but has not been tested recently. She is crate trained and potty trained but is still working on basic obedience commands like sit, down, and stay. She’s not treat or toy motivated, but she learns best by watching and following the lead of other dogs in the home. Once Penelope feels safe and warms up to you, her loving side shines through. She’s a huge cuddler and loves nothing more than lounging beside you on the sofa. Penelope needs a special family who can provide her with the understanding, calm, and guidance she needs to flourish. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle companion and have the patience to help Penelope continue her journey of trust and healing, she could be the perfect match for you!
