Story
Meet Dena! Dena is a 3-year-old Alaskan Malamute and Husky mix, adopted from Austin Pets Alive two years ago. She’s highly athletic and needs a home with plenty of physical activity and mental stimulation. Whether it’s long hikes, games, or space to run in a fenced yard, Dena is happiest when she has room to be active. Indoors, she is calm, wandering about or lounging. Dena is professionally well-trained and knows commands like “heel”, “fetch”, “place”, ”come” and even “spin.” She has an amazing recall even a very long distance. While she’s shy around new people, she quickly warms up, especially when introduced outdoors. One of her favorite spots is her medium-sized indoor kennel, where she finds comfort and security. She sleeps through the night without interruptions and rarely barks, only making soft noises when excited. Dena is a quiet, loving companion ready to find her forever home. Could you be the one for her?

Great news! My adoption fee has been paid by someone who loves me and wants me to find a great home. Here's what you need to know about me:I can be shy in new spaces. I need a family who will let me take things at my own pace as I learn about new things. Once I come out of my shell, I have lots of love to give.I have some handling sensitivity. That means I have some preferences about how and where I get petted. My human friends at the shelter can tell you more!If there are kids in my new home, I need them to be older than 10 and prefer to meet them before going home. An adoption counselor can tell you more. It's recommended I meet any dogs living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along.I'm available for Trial Adoption! If you're interested in taking me home for 2 weeks before making a final decision, please email adoptions@southwesthumane.org. Story
Meet our amazing fluffer boy, Kaii. He's 5-6 yrs old, 80 lbs with the most fantastic fluffy tail. He has beautiful medium energy loves to go on walks, hikes and ready for all adventures. He's a big fan of his squeaky ball, belly rubs and his treats are a must! This smart boy will sit, shake and lay down on command and will surely learn more with treats and training. Kaii can be selective with dogs, especially males, so it's probably best he be a solo dog in the home. Here’s what Kaii’s foster has to say about him, “Kai is a lover. He mostly likes to snuggle or relax but loves his ball and squeaky toys too. He gets a little scared if he is sleeping and is reached towards so talking to him first is the best way to go. He gets a little jealous of other animals after he gets comfortable so being the only dog might the best for him. He does not like cats and has a stong prey drive. He isnt really an escape artist and doesnt try to hop fences or dig but will go for a run if the front door is left open. He has so much love to give and is a pretty great dog. Doesnt seem to have separation anxiety and just chills out. I do great with older kids but due to my getting scared if woke up out of a sleep, a home with older kids would be a better fit. He has been staying (fostered) in a home with kids from 12 to 18.” He would be an awesome best friend to have by your side so get your application in ASAP. He's neutered, vaccinated and chipped so he's ready and hoping you pick him! Currently being fostered in Salem, Oregon.

Story
Meet the adorable 4yr old boy, Scooby! He's had a rough life and is still the sweetest boy with the best demeanor. He was rescued from the euthanasia list and had a few medical issues that we were happy to step up and pay for and he's on the road to recovery. He also has a slight heart murmur but that could be due to him being 18lbs under weight. He's a big boy who should weigh 80lbs and currently at 62lbs. He was at 53lbs at the shelter and he's loving all the attention, food and love he's getting in his temporary foster home. He deserves the world cuz he is such a kind soul, calm, submissive and docile. He's so special and he's the kind of dog you instantly are drawn to that will melt your heart. He's dog friendly and people friendly and he's ready to love you! He's neutered, vaccinated and chipped and he's waiting for an amazing forever home this time around. Please match his amazing spirit and be amazing too, he deserves the best! Please reach out to foster or adopt our adorable boy Scooby and get your application in ASAP!

Akita Mix 1 year old Male 60 pounds Kids · 6+ Dogs · Yes Cats · No What My Friends Say About Me: I’m a bundle of puppy energy who loves to play and stay active! Affection is my middle name—I thrive on cuddles and kisses from my favorite humans. Whether it’s a hike, a run, or just exploring the neighborhood, I’m ready to join you on all your adventures. The Type of Home I’m Looking For: I’m looking for a home where I can receive positive reinforcement training to help me learn and grow. Story
Akita Mix 1 year old Male 66 pounds Kids · 8+ Dogs · Yes Cats · No What My Friends Say About Me: I’m a sweet and affectionate boy who absolutely loves people! I’ve got a lot of energy to burn! Whether it’s a game of fetch, chasing after a ball, or just running around the yard, I’m always up for some fun! I get along well with other dogs and love making new furry friends. The Type of Home I’m Looking For: I haven’t had any experience with cats, so I’m not sure how I’d react. For now, I think it’s best if I stick to my dog pals. I’m an energetic guy, so I’d do best with children over the age of 8 who can keep up with my playful nature. I could use some positive reinforcement training to help me become the best dog I can be. My adoption fee is $300 and includes neuter, microchip & registration, leash/collar, food sample, toy & treat packet.

Story
Rrrrruffff! I'm Kya! I'm a happy and smiley girl! I love people and I'm a very sweet girl. I can be a tiny bit anxious but with time I come out of my shell pretty easily! I'm a cattle dog mix, and I have some white, brown and black in my coat! I'm quite beautiful, and I smile often! I'm dog friendly, I currently go out with two other large female foster sisters and a foster brother! At first, I try to work and will to herd everyone. That's my job, so that's what I do! But,, I play and jump around once I know my duties have been completed! I'm potty and crate trained! My foster Mom lets me out in the yard (fenced in), and I get to play with others and do my business. When I'm all done, I go straight to my crate, where I'm fed and given water! I do like to play in the water too, sometimes I just stand in it. I'm a great adventure partner too, I love adventures! The only adventures I go on right now are to Home Depot, Marshall's, and my favorite...the drive thru at Starbucks! I get to get a pup cup every time! Watch how good I was at my last trip to Marshall's with my Foster Mom here: https://youtu.be/CJkoorJ859w?feature=shared I'm so happy that I'll be able to find my forever home soon. I would love to provide all the love and affection to someone or a whole family! Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We provide weekly socialization programs for our dogs through playgroups and group leash training classes available to all dogs in our adoption program, and Doggy Sleepover, Doggy Day Out, and Ambassador programs for our boarding dogs. There is a professional dog trainer on staff to provide support for our fosters and dogs, and an off-site dog trainer for dogs that need more extensive behavior modification. This helps us learn deeply about every dog, prepare them for adoption, and ultimately match them with loving families. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
