Story
Kay will be 1 year old in January (29th). She was rehomed to us by a family who was not able to care for her in an apartment home with super busy schedule. They purchased her as a young puppy. We got her at 7 months old and have had her in puppy training at PetSmart. She is doing better with being house trained. She sleeps in her crate. She started her doggie period at 8 months old. She loves treats but doesn't love her dog food, which she takes a while to eat. We are on our second brand. We are looking for a home with open space and large yard for her to run and exercise. Hopefully with owners who aren't as busy or may work from home. Kay is energetic, playful, smart, stubborn, and loving.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.NOTE- MOOSE IS LISTED AS A COURTESY FOR AN INDIVIDUAL ASKING TO REHOME THEIR PET. PLEASE SEE CONTACT INFO BELOW.   From Moose's caretaker 'Moose came into our care from an overcrowded kill shelter. He was high on the euthanasia list due to his size, anxiety/fear-based aggression, and their lack of space. Since we got Moose, we have found that he is a delightfully lazy, sweet, and stoic boy whose favorite activity is to nap on the porch. Moose knows basic commands and enjoys training sessions with lots of treats! He is crate trained and muzzle trained (command ‘snoot!’) and enjoys walks on the long lead.    Though we do not know much of his history, he has not bitten anyone in the year he has been with us. He shows his anxiety in appropriate ways (whale eyes, lip licks, avoidance). We say fear based aggression simply because the few times he has shown warning signs of aggression have been when he is very anxious and over threshold but he easily deescalates with space and comfort. Moose is very sweet, just very sensitive and with his Fluoxetine (Prozac) he has felt a lot more at ease! We are only rehoming him due to his prey drive towards our cats. He is friendly with people, even men, as long as they don’t manhandle him and seems to be good with other dogs!   If you are interested in him or would like more information about him please reach out to me so we can schedule a meet and greet! Moose would be happy to meet you!  We would like to send him with his XXXL crate, baskerville muzzle, toys, harness/leash, etc. Moose is currently fully vaccinated, microchipped with a tempscan chip, and he had a health/DNA genetic panel done (surprisingly a purebred Alaskan malamute!)' IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING MOOSE, PLEASE CONTACT HIS CARETAKER: Jax Knott  email: jax.knott3@gmail.com Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 5:13 pm

Story
ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/14007Hi all! My name is Pontoon, but I answer to my nickname “Kona.” I just arrived to Maryland from a crowded shelter in South Carolina where OPH was kind enough to help me find my forever home! I just moved in last night, but my foster mom is already smitten with me. She calls me handsome and smart, and I love to talk to her when I’m excited! I already know how to sit and lay down, and go in my kennel with no issues while she’s sleeping or at work. I’m really interested in playing with her other dogs, but we haven’t formally met yet. They’re fluffy, but not as fluffy as me! My luscious locks are very interesting, it looks like I’m all white from the front, but when I turn around, you see my beautiful red! If you’re looking for a sweet, snuggly, floof ball, look no further, I’m right here and ready to meet you! This pet is expected to arrive at an Operation Paws for Homes Foster Home soon. If you are interested in adoption, please submit your application so that you may be pre-approved prior to arrival. All pets must be granted a Health Certificate in order to cross state lines and come to the rescue. Obtaining the health certificate is largely dependent on veterinary resources at the originating animal shelter so some pets may not arrive as planned.

These pups are in Baltimore, Maryland too!

Story
Skipjack is a delightful and stunning 2-year-old Akita mix currently in a foster home. Skipjack loves adventure and he would thrive with an active person or family. In his home there aren't children, but they do visit! He does well with an 8 and 13 year old but may be a little too bouncy for small children. Initially shy, Skipjack reveals his goofy and affectionate nature once he warms up. He loves belly rubs and can’t get enough of the water, often splashing around in the dog pool. He does have a bit of a prey drive and might get distracted by rabbits or squirrels on walks, but he generally walks well on a leash. He would also prefer a home without cats. Skipjack is a sweetheart, responding well to direction and training, but he will need a committed owner to continue his training. He hasn’t had any accidents in his designated space and he is crate trained. He is generally well behaved, he is working on his excitement when meeting new people! Skipjack is a lovable, high-energy dog who would be a great companion for an active individual or family willing to continue his training and provide him with the attention he needs. You must be over 21 and a home owner to adopt me. Please visit www.pittiesandpurrs.org to fill out an application. For further information contact adoptpitties@gmail.com
