Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog I:3 Introducing Zamboni! Zamboni is a vibrant and independent young dog on the lookout for his loving family. During his interactions with other dogs, he confidently approaches with his tail held high and wagging, enjoying friendly sniffs and exploring his surroundings with enthusiasm. Around 2 years old, Zamboni radiates medium to high energy and is keen on learning new tricks—he already knows sit, paw, and down. With his treat-motivated nature and a bit of patient guidance, he's sure to polish up his manners and become an even more delightful companion. Zamboni would thrive in a home with experienced adopters who understand his breed's unique traits, especially those familiar with northern breeds. He craves mental and physical stimulation, making him a great fit for an active household that can provide structured training and plenty of playtime. Ready to add a playful and affectionate new member to your family? Zamboni is eager to meet you and bring his zest for life into your home!July 7, 2024, 12:29 am

Story
Ferdinand is a mellow gentleman who’s just waiting to meet you. At first, he doesn’t show much emotion, and he has some facial markings that make him look a bit dramatic. But once Ferdinand figures out you’re there to take him out, he’s all about it. He’s an easy-going leash walker and is friendly and well-behaved passing other dogs. If you’re looking for an adult member of your household, Ferdinand would be a great addition. He’s past the puppy stage, but still full of energy and curiosity. He will make a fine member of just about any new family. He appears to be housetrained.

Story
Hodor is in a loving foster who have provided him with stability, affection, training and enrichment. We asked his fosters to tell us about him and here's what they said: "Hodor is friendly, goofy, sweet, happy, non-reactive to other dogs, smart, and a quick learner. He is wonderful with our dogs and kids, is not food aggressive and walks well on leash. He's overall quiet a dog, but, like all Husky's, likes to serenade us when he's happy. We are working with him every day, and he's great with sit, stay, shake, and he's doing well learning to heel. When on walks if he gets excited by a squirrel or deer, we are also teaching him to sit and calm down. Hodor adores children and has been very gentle when encountering children on leash. He is quite large, so the only thing I would say is that someone should just make sure the child doesn't inadvertently get knocked down! He's met children from toddler age to teens, and I think he'd be fine with any ages. Hodor is our 14th foster for Milo, and he has been the easiest to have in our home by far. He gets along well with our 'pack' of 2 other Huskies. When it's time to walk or play, he's energetic and when it's time to rest or be quiet, he's self-sufficient and is happy to sleep." If you are interested in Hodor please fill out an application.

Story
Thor is a staff and volunteer favorite, and once you meet him it's easy to see why. This 70 lb love-bug craves affection and will lean against you while you pet him and tell him he's a good boy. Once he's out of the chaotic shelter environment, Thor walks nicely on leash and has wonderful manners. He knows the "sit" command and takes treats gently. He's an intelligent boy and would thrive in a home that will provide plenty of enrichment and teach him new commands. Thor loves toys and will jump into the toy bin in the play yard to select his own playthings. He enjoys fetch and tug-o-war, and playing with other dogs. To set up a meet and greet with Thor, go to HSNB.org and fill out a dog adoption interest application. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 67 Age: 3yrs 7mths 1wks

Story
Good day, I'm Yami, known for my handsome good looks and smoldering baby blues. What makes me stand out is I perform a "happy" bouncy dance for the volunteer walkers before they take me out for a walk and to play. It works because they are always happy after my dance. It's magical.Like most huskies, I'm smart, friendly, but shy, good disposition, and affectionate. I enjoy snuggling, pets, kisses, going on walks, playing with toys and snacks. I walk well on a leash and know basic commands like sit, down, wait, and heel, but I'm sure with love, structure and guidance I can learn alot more. The volunteers have been working with me on my manner and I have improved a great deal. I'm compatible with other dogs, but am dog selective. If you have a dog, you can bring it to visit me to see if we can be friends. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of cats or other small animals. I'm compatible with well-behaved older kids and would thrive with an active, loving family that has the time to provide me with both physical and mental stimulation. I know I can bring joy and happiness to your family. Please come see for yourself. I'll do my "happy" dance for you.My adoption fee of $150 means I'll come to you neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all my vaccinations. Please visit www.hsnb.org to fill out an adoption interest application and set-up a date. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 73.375 Age: 6yrs 5mths 1wks
