Sunny was rescued from one of the most dangerous areas in Lebanon, where he faced unthinkable challenges. Local kids threw rocks at him, and residents scared him away with gunfire when he sought safety near their homes. Alone and scared, he was discovered hiding under a car, separated from his littermates and mother. Rescuers brought Sunny to a foster home in Lebanon, where he received care, safety, and the chance to trust humans again. He also began to socialize with other dogs, showing his gentle and playful side. When Sunny arrived in Vancouver, he received a 5-star grooming session that revealed an untreated puncture wound. Thanks to prompt vet care, he healed quickly and emerged as the happy, loving dog he is today. Sunny is a delightful mix of calm and playful. He’s a big fan of cuddles, but when he’s truly at ease, his zoomies come out, showcasing his joyful spirit! He’s curious about squirrels and birds but mostly watches them disappear into the trees and sky. Sunny loves walks, running off-leash in fenced areas, and learning new things. Smart and eager to please, he’s ready to soak up all the love and knowledge his future family can share. Sunny’s Ideal HomeSunny would thrive in a home with a yard where he can run and explore. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. My name is Bryce, and I have quite the story to tell.   Breed: Alaskan MalamuteAge: 4 yearsGender: Male    Weight: 73 lbHighlight(s): Good with other dogs, rarely barks, no escape tendency I was found wondering the streets and ended up in a city pound as a stray. Despite having a microchip, no one came to claim me, and I was at risk of being euthanized. Thankfully, I was saved and brought to a shelter, but unfortunately, I've been there for over a year without finding a family to call my own. Living in Korea's hot and humid summers hasn't been easy for me as a Malamute. I'm really hoping to find a home where I can be comfortable and happy. I'm not shy at all when it comes to meeting new people. In fact, I love it when strangers pet me and give me belly rubs. I'm a big fan of scratches and don't mind being brushed. Just be prepared for some shedding! I get along well with other dogs, regardless of their size. I've been living with 30-40 dogs at the shelter, so I'm used to being around many furry friends. However, I haven't had the chance to meet a cat yet, so I'm not sure how I would react. I have a moderate energy level and enjoy outdoor activities. I walk well on a leash and am confident in urban environments. Sudden noises and car rides don't scare me at all. In fact, I absolutely love car rides and enjoy looking out the window, feeling the wind on my face. I want to assure you that I haven't shown any signs of aggression. However, I do have a little possessive behavior when it comes to certain things. Sometimes, I won't let go of something I have in my mouth. But don't worry, the shelter is working on this with me, and it's recommended to continue "leave it" training after adoption. I don't have separation anxiety and rarely bark. You won't have to worry about me trying to escape either. I am crate-trained, but I haven't been housetrained yet since I haven't had the chance to live in a home. Kazuki is an adorable Husky X Akita mix. She is a lively, energetic, very friendly and happy girl. Kazuki will need to go to an experienced adopter who knows how to train dogs with confidence by way of positive reinforcement. Kazuki needs some work on her manners but she is a fast learner and loves to work for treats! She seems to like most other dogs and can live with another well matched dog with proper introductions. Due to her exuberance and lack of basic training, she is not suitable for young children. Older teenagers could be okay for her. She would love to find a home who will exercise her mind and body often and will give her the same amount of love and kisses that she will give them!! At City of Vancouver Animal Services, we have a foster-to-adopt program whereby prospective new owners foster the adoptable animal for 21 days before committing to adoption.
