Story
Thursday is a 3 month-old Husky/Hound mix who currently weighs 12 lbs. When she looks up at you with those puppy eyes, you won`t be able to resist falling in love with her. Thursday loves squeaky toys, treats, and playing with other dogs. As with any puppy, she will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training as she learns her foundational manners and skills. She`s very treat motivated, which will help with training! Thursday might be small, but she has a big personality! When she gets excited, she can be a little mouthy. Due to this behavior, we are recommending that she go to a home with mature children only. Thursday is an energetic, affectionate girl who can`t wait to find her home!

Story
Sassy is currently at county pound but we will pull her if we can find a foster.Sassy and 8 other dogs were taken from abusive owners. Prior to being seized, Sassy lived indoors and never went outside. We have a volunteer who has gone to the shelter and has taken Sassy for walks and reports that Sassy is a wonderful dog! She is good on a leash and loves belly rubs.Sassy needs to be on a strong leash at all times. She gets spooked easily (remember, all of this is new to her) by cars, loud noises, etc.Sassy is approximately 40 pounds. She has been spayed. Sassy lived with dozens of cats prior to being seized and taken to the shelter.Apply to foster Sassy and help her learn to trust people and gain confidence at ricopetrecovery.org

Story
We adopted Cole from the Delaware County animal shelter in January, 2024. He is now 17 months. Neutered and shots up to date. He is house trained. We tried crate training but he managed to escape. He is happy to room free while we are gone which has been up to five hours. He lies by the door waiting for our return. Knock on wood, he has not gotten into trouble while we are out. He loves tug-a-war and will bring you toys to throw but does not always want to release them. Cole is high energy and would benefit from a fenced yard which we do not have. Very reactive on walks but is getting better. He is a quiet husky. Barks when he needs to go out. Rarely barks on walks and has not barked at dogs or critters he sees through the windows. The shelter said he does not get along with cats. We have not tested this. Coles sleeps from 7pm to 6am. He does stay in our bedroom but leaves us alone. Cole is very sweet and well mannered. Our mistake was overestimating our energy levels.

Story
Raider is a 5 year old pure bred Siberian Husky. He is crate trained and gets along well with other dogs. He does have high prey drive and will chase kids and nip if he catches up to them. He is a classic escape artist but he does have a 6ft tall 10’X10’ kennel that keeps him safe and secure. He will need an experienced husky owner in a home with no kids or small animals. He is a good dog that needs a little special care.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Vivian's adoption donation is $500 and she is being fostered in the Cincinnati area. She has been spayed, microchipped, received her rabies, distemper/parvo, bivalent canine influenza and Bordetella vaccines, tested negative for heartworm and started on prevention, as well as flea prevention. She has also had a dental cleaning.Vivian is a 5 year old, 8 pound Pomeranian girl ready for a kind and patient person! She came into rescue from an Amish breeder so she has slowly been realizing how kind people can be. She's a nervous girl, but never aggressive. With some coaxing, she will come up to you and sweetly nuzzle your hand when you get down on her level. She loves to curl up in a bed in the kitchen and watch the happenings. She will also prance around with her Pom-twirl as she follows you when you get home. She is starting to enjoy sitting in your lap on the sofa, and when she wants off the sofa, she will lie on the ground at your feet. She has not learned how to do stairs and is still learning to relax when being gently carried. She also still tends to jump and be a little startled by the normal sounds of a home (vacuum, microwave, etc). She will seek out the comfort of her dog bed or a quiet room. She does well with other dogs and friendly cats, though she is not playful with them. We think Vivian could also be happy as the only animal in the home. When she hears a squeaky toy, even in another room of the house, she becomes quite anxious and panicked, running around frantically. We don't know why this is, but she would be much happier in a home with NO squeaky toys. And she would continue to blossom in an only-adult home. She has done well with potty-training, and she is crate-trained at night. Walking on a leash is still a newer skill for her, but we have seen her make such progress in rescue that with some patience we are sure she could become more comfortable. As she has settled into her foster home, she is really enjoying more time outside in the fenced-in backyard. She is not a barky girl, though we have heard her gruff little bark sometimes when the other dogs in her foster home are barking outside. She tolerates brushing very well, an important quality in maintaining the beautiful coat of a Pomeranian! We can see how Vivian is such a sweet and loving petite Pom. As she learns to trust people to love and care for her, she will become such a happy, confident girl.!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.PLEASE NOTE: If you are viewing this biography on a website other than the Ohio Fuzzy Pawz website like Petfinder, Adopt-a-Pet, or another search engine (the OFP website is www.ohiofuzzypawz.com), not all information transfers to partner websites in some instances. If you go to the individual webpage of our dogs , you will be able to get more information each dog. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable so, in many cases, we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label. Our Adoption Process The adoption process has several steps involved. Please review prior to submitting an application. Our adoption process is detailed here: http://www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/info/adoption Our volunteers work very diligently to process each application and we try to ensure that we are making the best match possible for each dog. We do not schedule meetings with dogs until an application has been approved. It can take up to a few weeks to process an application or as little time as a few days, from the time you submit an application, please be prepared to adopt as we cannot hold dogs. Special Requirements Some dogs may have special requirements (for example, medications, a fence) -- if you apply for a dog, please be sure to read over the biography completely to see if there are any special needs and if you're home would be suitable. If we indicate on the dog's biography that a fence is required, this means your home must have a physical fence. Other dogs may require a "strong vet reference" which indicates that we are looking for a home that has a documented history of veterinary care with previous pets. The first step in our process is to submit an online adoption application at www.ohiofuzzypawz.com/forms. The application MUST include the personal references and veterinary, grooming, and landlord references (if applicable) and their respective contact information. If you do not include the references and the contact information, your application will be delayed as it CANNOT be processed. Once the references have been successfully completed, a home visit is then scheduled when a rescue representative can meet all members of the family or residents of the home. No application is approved prior to the home visit being done. At that point, the Directors will discuss any and all applications on a foster dog and make a selection--in many cases, there are multiple applications for each dog, so please be understanding that our only priority is the successful placement of each of our foster dogs. Out of State Adoptions We do adopt out of state to outstanding applicants, however, our process requires a home visit, so out of state adoptions can take longer. We do not ship our dogs, adopters should be prepared to pick up the dog in Central Ohio. May 27, 2025, 5:45 pm

Story
Meet the shining star, Colby! With one blue eye and one brown, he looks like he’s auditioning for a role in a doggy spy movie- But don’t worry, this handsome devil isn’t all about the drama. He’s actually one of the more chill Huskies you’ll meet. (Yes, you read that right. A somewhat quiet Husky. It’s rare. Like finding a unicorn that doesn’t scream.) Colby has all the best parts of being a Husky—playful, energetic, outdoorsy vibes—without the non-stop monologue. He can chat when the mood strikes, but he’s more of a “strong silent type with zoomies” than a 24/7 howling machine. He’s sweet. He’s polite. He gives affection like it’s his job. And he LOVES people! Whether you're his hiking buddy, cuddle partner, or treat dispenser, he’s all in. As for other dogs? He’s into it if they match his vibe. He’s not looking for chaotic energy; he’s looking for that solid, “let’s chase each other and then nap” kind of friend. Although, he prefers to have no pocket pet friends... he sees them as the trail mix he'd snack on before a hike. Colby is ready to find his forever fam—preferably one that enjoys walks, snuggles, and occasionally admiring how ridiculously good-looking their dog is. So if you’ve been searching for a Husky without the constant karaoke soundtrack, Colby might just be your dreamboat. Apply now before Hollywood calls him back for that spy movie.

Story
Brandy is a 9lb black and white Pomeranian mix. We think there may be some shi tzu or some other small fluffy breed but of course we always suggest a DNA test to be sure. We aren't certain of her age, but believe she is 2-3 years old.Brandy is an excitable girl who is interested in everything around her. She calms down when you hold her and give her pets. She loves attention and will give you verbal reminders to keep on petting. Brandy will not be ignored! This lil gal is a firecracker who just wants to be loved. She notices other dogs and did well when she interacted with our resident 'hippo dog' Bertha. If you're interested in Brandy, apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Story
Meet Jewels! Jewels is a stunning 2 year old female red husky/shepherd mix (best guess) who weighs 45 lbs. Jewels recently arrived from Tennesse and got to go to several pet store events. She has settled in well, even in the short time she has been with us! At her first event, she initially stayed by herself and checked out all the people and other dogs coming by. As the day advanced, she starting taking treats from the kids that visited and enjoyed her day. At her next event, she enjoyed getting groomed by her handler. She was incredibly calm (yes, a husky mix!) and would do well with another dog in the home. She got along great with the other dogs at the event. We think with continued socialization, this gal will be a wonderful family addition. She is a very quick learner. If you think Jewels could be the one for you, apply at www.caninecollective.org.

FOSTER OR ADOPT. ***please read entire bio***Introducing Storm, a gorgeous male timid husky/pomeranian mix who is about 8 months old. It's hard to say if there is any other breed without a DNA test.We don't know his full backstory but it wasn't a happy one. Our Storm arrived very very scared. If he could speak human we're sure he would have a tale to tell! Our boy is only about 25-30 lbs and is starting to approach trusted volunteers, especially if they have food. He really likes chicken but is indifferent to milkbones. He is very food motivated, so is very trainable if you are patient. He likes other dogs, hes curious and responds well to routine. He does well keeping his crate clean. We think Storm's progress would really skyrocket in a home environment, especially with another dog that could show him how to dog and the many benefits of being a pet. Storm will require a quiet home with humans who are patient and will work on establishing trust. He will be that dog you remember. Apply at www.caninecollective.org.

Adopting a Alaskan Klee Kai

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Alaskan Klee Kai - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

You can adopt an Alaskan Klee Kai at a much lower cost than buying one from a breeder. The cost of adopting an Alaskan Klee Kai from a shelter is typically $50 to $300, while smaller rescues may charge higher fees. The adoption fee may include an initial exam, preventatives, vaccines, microchipping, and spay/neuter.

Buying an Alaskan Klee Kai from a breeder, conversely, can be prohibitively expensive. Depending on their breeding, an Alaskan Klee Kai can cost $2,000 to $3,000.

The easiest way to adopt an Alaskan Klee Kai is through a rescue that specializes in Alaskan Klee Kais or northern breeds in general. A great place to start is with a breed search on Adopt a Pet, which will show you all the available Alaskan Klee Kais in your search radius.
