Story
Meet Zena, a stunning 5-year-old American Akita with a playful yet aloof personality. Weighing in at 80 pounds, she's a large, majestic presence who will capture your heart. Zena is friendly with strangers, especially if they approach her with confidence, and she gets along well with children. While she's curious about other animals, she's cautious around other dogs. Her favorite pastime is playing with her beloved toy bone. Zena is in excellent health, spayed, and up-to-date on all vaccinations. She's house-trained and knows basic commands like "sit" and "down." On walks, she behaves well but can be easily distracted by her surroundings. A home with a yard would be ideal for Zena, as she loves exploring and learning new things. She's comfortable being left alone and is quiet in her crate. Zena came into my life while I was in the military, and one of my favorite memories is hiking Stone Mountain with her, where her energy never waned. Unfortunately, I need to move and can't take her

Story
BEAR: THE AKITA  If interested contact Jonathan Evans 540-521-1944   This ancient Japanese breed has been venerated as family protectors and are famous for their dignity, loyalty and courage.Akitas are quiet, fastidious dogs.  Although wary of strangers,Akitas will gladly share their silly, affectionate side with family and friends. They thrive on human companionship. The large, independent-thinking Akita is hardwired for protecting those they love.  (AKC breed description)   Bear’s personality is true to his breed.  He is 4 years old and was very attached to his former family until unforeseen and difficult circumstances made it impossible for his welfare to stay in their home. I am his current foster and have owned Akitas for years.    Ideally, Bear would thrive with a family that has experience with breeds of his type and who have the time and patience to bring out the best in him.   Due to his size and weight, a home with older, responsible children would be preferred.  He likes cats and gets along with other non-dominant dogs. A fenced in yard where he can stretch his legs would be necessary and beneficial to his welfare.    He has been neutered, vaccinated, has a current negative heart worm test, and is on heartworm and flea preventative. There will be an adoption fee.  We are located in Statesville, NC.  Please contact me to get more information about Bear by texting me with your name and phone number.    Jonathan Evans 540-521-1944 ##2132233##

Story
Kali is such a happy and loving dog with a lot of energy whose tail is always wagging. BUT she does have quirks. 100% crate trained! I was told that she is 10, but she doesn't look or act like a senior. She has a high energy level and plays well with other dogs but guards food and toys. She gets along with our other dog but knowing how she is, we don't leave toys out or feed them when they are together. She desperately wants to play with other dogs but needs to stay minimally active until she is cleared of heartworms, which she is currently being treated for. Kali is potty trained, big time holder and knows to ask to go out. On leash she pulled a bit the first few days but now she is a great walker. I prefer to use a harness vs collar. She loves to sniff around and she's actually a big scaredy cat outside. Guards food and toys so should be with an experienced owner. She has a great heart but needs extra understanding and patience to gain her trust.

Story
Bandit is a sweet dog. She needs the extra space to run and play as she is a very energetic dog. She is great with our girls. We would love to have someone adopt this sweet dog as life has us having another baby and it's hard in an apartment. Bandit is very playful, outgoing and fun to be around. All shots up to date. She is 6 years old
