Story
Gemma was found as a stray who was very sick. She was taken to the emergency vet who discovered that she had bone fragments in her intestines which were causing irritation. After some medication and fluid therapy, Gemma is as good as new. Through the entire process, though it was very clear the poor thing was not feeling well, Gemma was on her best behavior. She still accepted pets, gave kisses, and sat completely still for her blood draws and fluids. Gemma wants all the love and attention she can get. We did discover throughout her stay that Gemma also has luxating patellas, so we have started giving her joint supplements which she may need for life to keep her comfortable. We are exploring surgical treatment options as well, and will be looking for a foster to adopt home for her recovery. Gemma has been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has tested neg. for heartworm which is included in the adoption fee. If you would like to adopt this dog, you must come into the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 12-4. (Closed Mondays & Wednesdays)
