Story
Nana is a sweet, 2-year-old Akita mix (85 lbs) looking for her perfect forever home. She’s incredibly loving, smart, and happiest when she’s close to her person, whether that’s going for a nice walk, playing with toys, or just lounging by your side. She knows basic commands (sit, down, paw, stay) and is both crate trained and house trained. I’ve been working on leash manners and she’s made great progress with consistency and patience. She’s curious and energetic, with a bit of prey drive, so she’d do best in a home without small pets or with slow, careful introductions. Nana can be protective of her food and toys, so if you have other large dogs, just be mindful of that dynamic. She’s shy around new people but will warm up beautifully if given the time to approach on her own terms. She’s spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and comes with a crate, toys, grooming supplies, and more. Please reach out if you'd like to meet Nana or have any questions!

Living at Heartland for an extended period comes with lots of benefits. During my time here I have learned many obedience skills. Spending time in my crate in the office is a real treat for me. My house manners are good. I do like sleeping in big peoples beds. I make myself at home quickly. I’m very proud that I donated blood to help save a fellow dog friend in need. I’m a powerful lady but very responsive to consistent leadership. If you are experienced with large dogs and want a partner on those evening runs, I’m the perfect choice. I also have a very big bark. Obedience training is a snap. You will enjoy challenging my mind as well as my body, I promise. I weigh 88 pounds. I’m still a puppy at heart, happy go lucky but quite intimidating in appearance. I want to be the only pet in the home. I like being the Queen. Because of my strength of body and mind, I would not be a good choice for first time dog owners.***I am microchipped.
