Story
Meet Reigny (pronounced like Rainy)! She is about 7 years old, a purebred Akita. I have been fostering her for about a month now after I took her in from a family who could no longer care for her. I have gotten to know her enough to start searching for her new home. Reigny is a very sweet girl. She needs some time to warm up to you, but becomes loyal very quickly to anyone who gives her head and back scratches, and lots of outdoor time! She is looking for someone to love her, be patient with her, and is knowledgeable in her breed and needs. I would like to home her to a family with no other dogs, so far I have found she can be around other dogs, tolerates them from a distance, but is not interested in interacting. I am unaware how she would be around children, but I would not recommend it, as I am unsure of most of her history. Let me know if you are interested in rescuing Reigny and giving her a new forever home!

Story
Meet Foxie 🐾At 10 years young, Foxie is a blind and deaf Akita mix who’s still got plenty of love—and adventure—left in her. She may have some limitations, but they don’t slow her down one bit. Foxie loves her walks, especially when the sun’s out and she can feel it warming her fur. She’ll happily lead the way with confidence and curiosity.Foxie is looking for a calm, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years in peace. A warm bed, a sunny yard to relax in, and someone to shower her with affection—that’s her dream. She gets along with some dogs, especially those who are mellow and easygoing like her.She doesn’t need a fenced yard, but she’d certainly enjoy one. What she really needs is someone who sees her for the sweet, resilient girl she is—and who’s ready to give her the gentle retirement she deserves.Thank you for showing an interest in our pets. We can never guarantee the breeds of the animals. We do not DNA test. Please feel free to call us with any questions.

Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. May 9, 2025, 7:51 am

Story
Meet Akira, she is a 1-1/2 year old spayed female Akita (around 90 lb) looking for a new home. She is a wonderful dog that gets along well with both male boxer dogs in my home. She has good manors and is a very quick learner. Walks very well with both of my other dogs, side by side. Have not seen her interact with children but would not suggest her in a home with small children under 12. Does well with grooming, nail trimming/brushing. She loves car rides and going places like parks or to the pet store. Ideally she would do best in a home without children under 12 and spoiled on her own or with a dog(s) of same age and energy level. I do walk/run her 5-10 miles a day currently so she should be with an owner who is also very active and has previously owned an Akita.

These pups are in Flint, Michigan too!

Story
This is Ga'zuki, zuki for short. He was born Oct 15ish 2023. He was dropped off at my house at 8 weeks old for potty training and the owner never came back. From my understanding, he is a Great Pyrenees x Husky. He is currently around 105lbs. Pro- He walks well on a leash He is muzzle trained for a cage muzzle. He is high energy for about 10 minutes and then needs a rest. He is very smart. He knows several commands ( sit, stay, back up, excuse me, stop, enough) He does like some dogs He does like some cats He does like some children Cons- Separate anxiety being treated with a RX for that. He can be dog reactive, if he sees the other dog is a threat. Horrible recall, normal for these breeds. He eats socks. He likes to escape the yard and house, typical husky. He will need someone with husky experience due to his size.
