Story
Hello! I'm Buck! I'm an aloof, sweet, active young guy looking for a place to call my own. I came to Berkshire Humane Society on a transport from Alabama. I love to romp about outside and also enjoy going on walks! I'm not reactive to other dogs while I'm on leash, which would make me an ideal hiking buddy as well. True to my Akita breed, when I meet new people I can be a bit standoffish, but give me some time and a pinch of patience and I'll be your BFF! Young humans have proven to be a bit much for me, and I tend to avoid them entirely rather than create conflict, so a home with kids 10 and up would be best for me. I've been mostly house trained here at the shelter, although sometimes I have a small accident due to stress. Kennel staff are confident that when I get into a consistent home, I will be completely house trained in no time! I love critters and when I'm in the woods have shown staff that I have a pretty intense prey drive, so a home without small dogs, cats or small animals (rabbits, ferrets, etc.), would be best for me. I've also met a few dogs here in the shelter and would prefer to not have other dogs "in my personal space bubble". I don't mean to be anti-social, but coming from an overcrowded shelter, I'm learning that having my own space to stretch out and be king of my own castle is sublime! If you think I may be the dog for you to complete your family, please reach out to the kennel staff at (413) 447-7878 ext.126 to learn more about me and how to bring me home!Dogs: NoCats: NoKids: 10+Weight: 48
