Story
Meet Ritz!  Your Loyal, One-and-Only Companion Ritz is a 7-year-old Akita mix who’s had a bit of a rollercoaster lately. Recently returned to us through no fault of his own, he’s ready for a fresh start with a family who will cherish him forever. This big-hearted boy has so much love to give and wants nothing more than to play fetch with his people.  He thrives on attention, enjoys walks, and is always up for a good fetch session. Ritz prefers a calm environment where he can be the center of your world. He’s not a fan of sharing the spotlight, so he should be the only pet in the household. Ritz isn’t just handsome—he’s incredibly smart, too . He is fully potty trained, kennel trained, and listens well to commands. He loves having structure and knows what’s expected of him. Being the loyal Akita he is, Ritz would likely do well with kids and would adore “his” little people but he can be protective of his family, so he’ll do best with confident leadership and clear boundaries. Ritz is past the puppy stage but still full of life. He’s a smart, devoted boy with a lot of love to give. If you’re looking for a loyal friend who will bond deeply and love you unconditionally, Ritz is ready to fill that role in the most heartwarming way . Give Ritz the forever home he’s been waiting for...your couch, your heart, and your life will be better for it. The adoption fee is $250* + tax and covers age-appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  *Part of Ritz' adoption fee has been sponsored by someone who loves him! His adoption is now $150 + tax. We're open from 12-4 PM Tuesday - Saturday! Did you know you don't need to have an appointment to visit our available cats and dogs***? Simply drop by and if you find a potential new furry friend, you can fill out an application on the day you visit. Go to townandcountryanimalrescue.org to fill out our digital application. Applications are typically processed in 3-5 business days.  Once you're approved, you can return on the date and time set up by your adoption counselor, with your family for a meet and greet. If it goes well, you can take your new best friend home on the meet and greet day!  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.   ***Please note that animals in foster homes cannot be viewed at our rescue, and appointments are still required to meet them.  Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Animal Rescue and our mission.  ##954796##

Story
Introduct Leela and Carrie!  They are a mother and daughter team and need to stay together.  This is Leela, she is 5 years old, born in 2020.  Carrie is about 1.5 years, born in 2023.  Both are house trained and leash trained.  They enjoy being active and would love to be with someone who will take them on regular walks.  They would also love to have a fenced yard with room to play or lounge. Leela and Carrie are friendly girls.  They get along wtih other dogs, strangers and kids of all ages.  These sweeties really need a new place ASAP due to no fault of their own! The suggested adoption donation for both Leela and Carrie is $550, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2558375##

Story
Meet Padme— The Smart, Spunky, Social Butterfly of Her Litter Padme is a young Boxer/Husky/Cane Corso/English Shepherd mix (born June 2025) with a big personality and an even bigger heart. She comes from a litter of seven, and while her family would love to keep them all, they simply can’t — so this bright, affectionate little girl is ready to find a home of her own. She’s been wellloved, wellhandled, and already shows signs of being a clever, eagertolearn pup with tons of potential. Personality & Temperament Dog friendly and thrives with canine companionship Cat friendly Stranger friendly — loves meeting new people Great with kids 6–16 Active, playful, and social, but also has a calm side A total kisser A bit of a follower — she looks to older dogs for guidance Plays rough in typical puppy fashion She’s the kind of puppy who wants to be in the middle of the action, learning from the world around her and sticking close to her dog friends.  Padme also enjoys sitting with her human. Training & Home Skills Highly treatmotivated and already learning quickly Knows the beginnings of sit, hold (instead of stay), and lay on (release) Needs a fenced yard Barks loudly when she’s unhappy or wants something Digs in the yard — normal puppy curiosity Prefers a home with another dog or pet to keep her company She’s still a baby, so she’ll need continued training, structure, and patience — but she’s off to a great start. Her Ideal Home An older, confident dog who can teach her the ropes A family who enjoys an active, playful puppy A fenced yard for safe exploring People who appreciate a vocal, expressive pup A home where she’s treated like family and included in daily life Padme has a gentle soul and she would do well as an emotional support dog.   The suggested adoption donation for Padme is $415, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).
