Story
Thank you for considering rescue. I'm James Dean and I’m so happy to introduce myself to you. I'm a 4 year old, 68 pound Akita/Pit mix. I'm UTD on all my shots, neutered and I have great house manners and can walk well on a leash. Let's just get it out of the way, unlike my namesake, I am not a rebel without a cause. I am refined and fearless and love to romp in the woods. When we go for walks or are out in the yard I love to wander through the tall grass. If I scare a bird or squirrel I don't even give a tug on the leash, but I do enjoy watching the playful creatures. I'm not afraid of cars or people walking by and with a quick "leave it" I give it no more attention. My foster fur brother has taught me how to play with dog toys and take a treat and my foster fur sister and I take the best naps together (she's deaf and going blind and doesn't play much). My foster mom says I match their personalities well. All I know is that I enjoy the zoomies with my foster fur brother but I truly enjoy the naps with my foster fur sister too. I really like being outside, and I'm learning I do like toys but the puzzle toys just aren't for me. My foster mom says it's because I'm not really food driven, I'd just as soon get a "good boy" and butt scratches or belly rubs. Although I am a really good boy if left alone, I prefer to be with a human. I won't eat my blanket or chew on table legs and can rest comfortably home alone, but when you come home, I do get really excited to see you. I know how to walk well on a leash and will get even better after my training. I'm house and crate trained. I know sit, wait, leave it and place, and I'll learn all my manners in training too. I've played with the neighborhood kids and didn't even mind when they were throwing the football and yelling, I was a very good boy and didn't try to tackle anyone. I'm a pretty cool guy, my foster mom and shelter manager both said so.  I'll be entering Refurbished Pets of Southern Michigan's 10 week training program May 30th. If you think you are interested in adopting me please fill out an application. There's even time for a meet and greet before I enter training if you apply now. I’m neutered and I’m UTD on all my vaccines, HW, FT, and have a microchip of my own.  RPSM recommends children 6 years and older.  I will require a fenced in yard, either physical or underground. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to www.rpsm.org to fill out an application. My adoption fee is $300. ##2362175##

Story
Meet Elle!Hi, I’m Elle! I was found with a microchip, but after multiple attempts to reach my registered owner, it became clear no one was coming for me. Through Facebook, the shelter discovered that I had been rehomed a year ago and was already spayed.According to a post my previous owner made, I lived in a home with cats, am great with kids, and am fully housebroken! I adore people (maybe a little too much—I love giving kisses!), and everyone at the shelter adores me right back. I’m also carrying a few extra pounds, but that just means there’s more of me to love!If you have other dogs at home, a meet-and-greet is required to make sure we all get along. I can’t wait to find a forever family who will love me as much as I love them! 💕An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are a donation of choice.
