Finnegan is a smart energetic dog looking for a family ready to continue his training.  As an Akita/German Shepherd mix, Finnegan is a working dog with a strong protective drive. He loves to be outside, playing and roughhousing with his canine friends.  Finnegan is looking for an active home where he can direct his energy toward mental and physical activities and exercise. He gets along well with both dogs and cats in his foster home, and would likely do well with older children.  If you have experience with working breeds like Akitas and are ready to guide Finnegan through consistent obedience training, he is ready to be a devoted pet who will love and protect you! Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person. I wanted to share a heartwarming story about a gentle giant named Shogun. He has completely captured our hearts with his calm and loving demeanor. Despite his imposing size, Shogun is as gentle as a lamb. He loves nothing more than a good belly rub and a gentle pat on his head. His soft fur and warm gaze make him an irresistible companion. One of the most endearing qualities of Shogun is his patience. He tolerates our playful children with grace and understanding, often patiently waiting for his turn to join in the fun. I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful, gentle companion in my life. I hope you will have the chance to meet Shogun someday. You will be amazed at how gentle and loving he truly is. He is 11 years old. I'm looking for someone who can stay home with him all day.

I was sad and confused not knowing why Hershey didn`t come with. It didn`t take long though. Hershey likes to run and got away from our owner again. My journey started at an overcrowded shelter in Texas, where things were a bit rough for a while. I wasn't feeling my best (those pesky ticks got the better of me), but let me tell you about the amazing humans at C.A.R.E. who changed my life! Even while I was still in Texas, they were checking on me all the time, sending love and support while I got stronger. Once I was feeling better, I took the biggest adventure of my life – a road trip all the way to Chicago! Now I'm living my best life here, getting stronger every day and putting some healthy weight back on these bones. Everyone tells me my fluffy tail is absolutely adorable, and I have to agree! *wags tail*. I'm quite the star student when it comes to training, and walking is my absolute favorite activity! There's nothing better than exploring the neighborhood with my human friends. Speaking of friends – I'm what you might call a 'people person.' I love humans so much that I prefer to keep all their attention to myself, so I'm looking for a home where I can be your one and only furry family member. Want to know the best part?
