Story
Zoomer is incredibly handsome and super smart. He's able to master new skills quickly and curious about the world around him. Zoomer LOVES car rides and walks. He lives life full speed ahead, so he would do best with an active adopter who is looking for an adventure buddy. He’s down for any adventure with you, from hiking and camping to road trips. He just wants to be included and feel like he belongs. Zoomer recently enjoyed a short 5-day break in a temporary foster home, and he aced it. While we would usually describe Zoomer as high-energy (hence his name), his foster described him as easygoing and settled in her home. Sometimes dogs who are amped up in the shelter become completely relaxed in a home, and this seems to be the case with Zoomer. He was the perfect guest! They described him as “absolutely delightful” and we have to agree. In the home, he was cuddly and affectionate, and transitioned quickly into his new routine. They described his energy as low-key and sweet. Once Zoomer gets to know you, he’s all about the snuggles. He loves back and chest scratches and will reward you with little happy grunts. Ultimately, Zoomer was excited to be the center of attention. Zoomer is fully housetrained and knows quite a few tricks. He sleeps well through the night in his bed and waits patiently to be let out in the morning. He’s perfectly happy with a quick jaunt around the backyard, a roll in the grass, and checking on the neighborhood through the fence. Zoomer isn’t high-maintenance, and, more than anything, wants to be your buddy. If you’re looking for a silly, happy, loving companion, Zoomer would love to meet you. He would do best in an adult home without other pets. Apply to meet him today!

Story
Balto is a 5 year old male Akita mix and an absolutely stunning boy. His gorgeous, fluffy coat practically glows in the sunshine - and it’s so comforting to pet his super-soft fur! He walks well on a leash and almost prances while out and about … yes, he definitely knows that he’s handsome! Balto enjoys going on walks and likes running along the fence line with other dogs in adjacent play areas. Most of all, he truly loves spending time with his human friends and is happy to do whatever you have in mind, whether that’s a neighborhood stroll or curling up on the couch for movie night. While Balto adores people, he has been dog-selective at the shelter, so a Meet and Greet would be needed if other dogs live in your home. But don’t worry - Balto has a big heart and more than enough love to give all on his own. Come meet this sweet boy soon, and give Balto the loving home he deserves! The adoption fee covers the following: spay or neuter surgery; one-year rabies vaccine; feline or canine distemper vaccine; heartworm test (dogs) or combo (fiv/felv) test (cats); deworming; and microchip. Carroll County Animal Shelter is located at 251 Automation Drive in Carrollton GA. Phone: 770-214-3590. The hours of operation are: Monday through Wednesday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Thursday 12:30 pm till 6:00 pm; Friday 12:30 pm till 4:30 pm; Saturday 9:00 am till 4:00 pm. Story
Forrest – ID #18616 – Kennel #46 Arrived April 29th as a stray – German Shepherd/Akita Mix – Tan & Black – Male – 10 years old – 81 lbs – Up to date on vaccines – Heartworm negative Meet Forrest — a magnificent and deeply soulful tan and black German Shepherd and Akita mix with the warmest amber eyes and a gentle, dignified presence that is simply impossible not to fall in love with. This sweet old soul was found as a stray on April 29th with no one to come forward for him, and at 10 years old this extraordinary boy now waits in Kennel #46 for someone to give him the warm and loving home he so deeply deserves for whatever time he has left. Forrest knows sit, stay, down, and shake — four commands that speak volumes about the love and time someone once invested in him. He clearly had a person who cared for him deeply, and yet here he is, alone and waiting. That loyalty and training he carries with him every single day is a testament to the incredible dog he is and has always been, and he deserves a family who will honor that. At 10 years old Forrest is a senior gentleman who has lived a whole lifetime of quiet devotion, and every single remaining day of his golden years deserves to be spent in a soft and peaceful home with someone who will cherish every moment with him. He is heartworm negative and up to date on all of his vaccines — and due to his age he will not be neutered prior to adoption, meaning he is ready to go home right away to the person who chooses him. Senior dogs like Forrest are the most heartbreakingly overlooked animals in shelters, and yet those who open their hearts to a senior will tell you it is one of the most profoundly meaningful and deeply rewarding experiences of their lives. If you have room in your heart and your home for this magnificent old soul, please come meet Forrest in Kennel #46. He has so much love and dignity still to give — all he needs is someone to give him the chance to give it. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. This pet is available for adoption from Cobb County Animal Services, 1060 Al Bishop Dr. Marietta, GA 30008, (770) 499-4136. Shelter hours: Tues. - Sun. 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed Mondays & Holidays. The adoption includes shots, altering, a heartworm or combo test and a microchip.

Story
YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND: Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 32 lbs. Hi, I’m Shellie!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and I’m sure happy to be here and thankful for a second chance at living a great life!  I’m ready to find my new family and have some fun as well as show them what a great companion I’ll be. I was adopted for a few days, but it wasn’t a good fit as I did not like the cat and I need to work on my food and toy possessiveness which I’m doing now with my trainer.  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program off-site and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts, and did not like the females, but did well with the males, so if you have a male dog at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / I met a cat in a temporary home, and we learned that I should not live with cats due to my strong prey drive. (No cats were harmed in this discovery.) / There was an 11-year-old in my foster home, and I did great with them (they knew not to take things away from me), but more mature kids - aged 15+ that will follow the rules that work for me would be best, let’s meet. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My former foster described me as a loving friend who gave lots of kisses and was also a bit ‘mouthy’ like a puppy! I was delightful for the Mostly Mutts photographer as I showed how much I enjoyed cuddling and being in a lap. A very sweet and lovable friend, I’m looking forward to showering my family with love! I am a bit possessive of my food, toys and anything in my mouth and there was 1 bite related to this, so I’ve been working on it with my trainer, who has implemented controlled locations for my meals, as well as accompanying commands – so please just ask about this. My trainer also taught me the command ‘drop it’ to trade my toys and bones for a high value treat.  / Energy level: 6-8, so I’ll want to be active with my new family. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I'm a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program, so, I've mastered the 'sit', 'stay', 'down', 'come', 'drop it', 'leave it' and 'place' commands. I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping. My trainer is working with me on my possessive behaviors as there was 1 bite related to this.  I’ve since learned to trade a toy for a treat and my trainer would be happy to talk to and work with you on this.  Mostly Mutts recommends a trainer to continue my training after adoption. / I am described as pretty relaxed in my crate and I did well in my two temp. homes, too. / I did really well with my potty manners in my foster home with no accidents as well as two temp. homes I was in for a few days.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for walks, playing with toys, chasing tennis balls, cuddling and being in laps as well as getting my head and ears scratched and my tummy rubbed.  I also like pawing at my people’s feet lol. / I can be a little shy when first meeting new people, so I do best when given time to approach at my own pace — if rushed, I may choose to run and hide.  See personality/skills section of my profile and I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I’m a great dog looking for a great family to love that will follow the rules that have been established to help me be successful! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  May 14, 2026, 7:14 am

Meet Sadie! Sadie may be one of the most loving dogs you’ll ever meet. She has a special way of choosing “her people” and forming deep bonds with them. Sadie loves curling up on the sofa right next to her person and feeling connected to them. She’s also one of the happiest dogs you’ll ever meet. Sadie’s tail is almost always wagging, and she loves expressing her personality by talking. She doesn’t even mind that we don’t know what she’s saying! If you’re looking for a companion who connects wholeheartedly and loves deeply, Sadie is ready to meet you and make both your dreams come true.
