Story
Oversized teddy bear seeks snuggle partner. Cuddly, smart, and eager to please, swipe right if you can handle this high energy heart with a soft side. Hatchi’s story is heartbreaking — he came into the shelter with his brother, but when their owner returned, they only took his brother… leaving Hatchi behind in a high-kill shelter. He soon found himself on the euthanasia list. Hatchi is now in a loving foster home and is looking for his forever home where he can feel safe, loved, and supported again. Hatchi does require eye drops daily for the remainder of his life. In our dream world, Hatchi would find a human that would help him feel confident and secure in a FINALLY stable environnment.

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Smallville:1Brooke is a gorgeous 5-month-old Akita mix, 47 pounds and growing into a stunning, strong, and playful young dog. With her beautiful tan coat and striking markings, she turns heads everywhere she goes. Even better? She’s incredibly sweet and loves being around her people. This high-energy puppy is playful, curious, and full of enthusiasm. She enjoys games (the flirt pole is a favorite!) and is learning the ropes of potty training. She does okay in a crate, though she’d much rather be hanging out with her humans. Brooke is eager to learn and will thrive with positive, reward-based training, continued socialization, and plenty of mental and physical enrichment. Brooke is best suited for a committed adopter who’s ready for the time, patience, and consistency a large-breed puppy needs. With the right guidance, Brooke has all the potential to grow into an amazing, loyal companion. Click here to learn how to adopt and submit your adoption questionnaire.January 2, 2026, 1:10 pm

Story
Looking for a loving home for our 5 year-old dog who has high energy needs. He needs more time and training than we can dedicate due to having young children and other unexpected changes in our lives. He is sweet and loving and would love to live somewhere that he can hike, run and roam. He is tolerant of kids and very gentle but would probably prefer a home with older kids.

Story
Meet HIROMI HIROMI was turned into the shelter as a found dog. No one ever came for her. Despite being failed by her former person, this sweetheart remains devoted and loving. After Hiromi’s arrival she was initially timid and lacked confidence. She can still be somewhat apprehensive but she has opened up and trusted us enough to let her true colors shine! She is silly, sensitive, refreshingly affectionate, playful and a free spirit. Her absolute favorite past time is to be showered with love and give it in return. Her gentle, resilient nature is inspiring but not surprising. Hiromi is very communicative by expressing a multitude of emotions with her eyes. Her body language is inviting and she understands how to use it to subtly let you know what’s on her mind. She is also an Akita so stubbornness is part of her DNA! Her ideal adopter should have a calm home environment and be able to provide consistency and a daily routine, where she can continue to expand her horizons. Hiromi gets excited for her daily walks and is a great traveler! She seems non-reactive to other dogs and might do well with a mellow male dog. She is approx 4 yrs old and weighs 57 lbs. She is also crate and house trained. She is ready to pledge her love and devotion! Are you?! Story
Meet Emi Emi’s sleek, brindle coat is a thing of beauty and so magnificent to behold. Engaging, charismatic, gregarious, and spirited are the first things you sense about her from the moment she enters a room. Emi exudes a brand of joy that makes her impossible to resist! Not until you witness her graceful elegance and see a bit of frost around her muzzle, do you realize she is a senior beauty with an abundance of life experiences to share. She’s 8 yrs old and has found herself homeless, but she’s seen enough in life to know there’s still a wonderous journey ahead. She is a lover of people and she’d much rather be enjoying a fun adventure with you by her side on interesting walks or trips to the beach, than be left at home alone. She needs to be an only dog and is not suitable with cats. She is approximately 60 lbs. and seems unaware she has some arthritis and hip dysplasia. But as you can see, she enjoys playing with her toys and doing tricks for treats. Her healthy curiosity keeps her engaged in life’s adventures, though she also loves her beauty naps. Please don’t let her age deter you from considering giving her a home. Her heart is overflowing with love. If you are interested in Emi, please complete our adoption application in the link below. And my brother who is the original owner of Lucas moved out to a apartment and couldn’t take Lucas with him so we are putting him up for adoption to a new family who can spend time with him and he loves to run around.
