Hi! My name is Luna I'm at the Santa Barbara Campus. I am a 3 year old female Akita mix who is ready for my forever home. I appear to be house trained and think that I am a lap dog. I may be a little nervous at first because I had a family for the last 3 years and this is all new to me. I do come out of my shell very quickly and am a lot of fun. Interested in meeting me? Adoption Centers are open daily 12-4:30pm, closed Wednesdays. Adoptions are on a first-come first served basis. For more information please email Adopt@SBHumane.org or call 805-964-4777. When I am adopted, I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adopters will receive a certificate for a free veterinary exam and our partners at Purina will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home.

Mara is half Akita half husky. We got her from a rescue in Riverside, CA when she was about 2 years old. We don't know for sure, but we believe her birthday is sometime in March. She's about 4 1/2 years old now. She is a very loving and cuddly dog who loves being around people, great with kids and loves to snuggle close to her people. She's a very calm and mild energy dog and loves to go for walks in the morning and evening and loves to stick her head out the window on car rides. She does have a very strong prey drive and can not be around other animals and is kept on leash at all times while out in public. She has attacked and killed smaller animals and is the reason why we have to put her up for adoption. Despite her prey drive, she's an absolutely wonderful dog and is very soft, fluffy, gentle and loyal. Her new home has to have no other pets. Preferrably, she has some room to run around and play. Becuase of her history, an experienced dog owner is recommended.

He was surrendered to rescue after his family had to relocate to Korea and were unable to take Hiro with them. Hiro is a medium-large sized Akita, and weighs about 80lbs. He has a beautiful, soft, shiny blond coat and the sweetest, brightest dark brown eyes. Hiro was very socialized as a young Akita, and has an easy-going temperament. Ruger is an incredibly handsome 4 year old purebred American Akita. He is friendly to new people, affectionate with those he knows, and likes to play tug-o-war! When it's time to sleep, Ruger carries his "baby" (stuffed animal) around and then snuggles up with it. Before coming into rescue, Ruger lived in a home with kids, and another dog. We think he would be happiest being an only dog, and in a home with Like most Akitas, Ruger will do best in a home without other dogs, or children under the age of 18. My name is Nebula, I was impounded in the field and brought in by our Humane Officers for a fresh start. I am a playful girl that has a lot of spunk! I can be selective with my furry furiends and would do best with a dog that would let me take charge or one that would give me my space as some dogs can be very overwhelming for me. I had a dog friend, but he has found his furever home so now it is my turn. I would also be okay with being the only dog in the household. The staff don’t know how I would be with cats but they think I’d probably do best without them. I am fun-loving and always up for an adventure. I like to go places, but I am good with relaxing at home as long as we get to play with tough toys because I do like to chew on my toys. One look into my stunning eyes will be enough to take me home!

Hey, my name is Everest, and I originally came in as a stray and then my owner could no longer care for me and surrendered me to the shelter to find a new home. I like to take brisk walks and to lounge as well. The staff have never seen me around cats, but they think I might have the potential to be okay with them if introduced properly. The staff also think I might be okay with kids as long as they are calm because I love to get pets by anybody and everybody.
