Story
How this pet arrived: This pet was brought in by their previous owner on June 23, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Maddie is a sweet, sensitive nature. She is slow to warm up to new people but has made great progress with positive reinforcement and now seeks out gentle affection like chest rubs and back pets once she feels safe. Maddie is crate trained, polite, and does best with calm, patient handling. She has a positive history with other dogs and has enjoyed successful play sessions while in care. Maddie has no known history with cats and would do best in a home with children 12 years and older who can respect her boundaries. She will need continued positive-reinforcement leash training and does best with a martingale collar and 6-foot leash. Maddie would thrive in a quiet, understanding home that allows her time to build trust and confidence. With patience and consistency, she will reward her adopter with quiet affection and loyalty. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home! Primary Color: Tan Weight: 61 Age: 3yrs 6mths 1wks

Simba has spent too long waiting for his forever family. 💔 This strong and spirited Akita-Husky mix is full of energy, loves his toys, and is happiest on long walks or playing with his human. He’s sweet, loyal, and ready for the right home. If you’re looking for a dog with personality and heart, Simba is waiting to meet you! 🐕 Adopt Simba: https://form.jotform.com/221926016430144 Full profile: Simba is a 6-8-year-old Akita-Husky mix with the personality of an Akita and the heart of a lion. He’s playful, sweet, and full of energy but needs a confident and strong adopter who understands his needs. 💪 Strength & Training: Simba is powerful and can pull when excited, so he needs someone physically capable of managing his strength. He’s learning commands like sit, down, paw, and “potty” and thrives with structure. A harness might help with his pulling. 🐾 Energy & Personality: Simba is not always a couch potato! He loves long walks (2+ miles is no problem), playing with his toys, and getting plenty of attention. He’s affectionate and cuddly but always ready for adventure. 🏡 Home Needs: Simba would do best in a home without small children due to his strength and energy. He’s good with other dogs, especially more timid ones, but does best with boundaries around toys and space. He’s also quite the counter-surfer, so keeping things out of reach is key! 🐕 Health: Simba has a thyroid condition that is managed with treatment, giving him renewed energy and playfulness. Simba has had a lot of love and care from his foster, but he’s ready to find his forever home. If you’re looking for a strong, loyal, and playful companion, Simba could be your perfect match. 💙 Ready to meet Simba? Apply to adopt him and give this big-hearted boy the home he deserves. 📌 Share to help Simba find his forever home Currently being cared in Southern California, but can be transported up to northern states, such as Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and anywhere within the US continental, if a great suitable family is willing to adopt him.

Story
Kito reminds us of those popular dog toys, the Squishmallow's. No one told him he was an Akita and is supposed to be stoic, protective and scary. He is ALL wiggles, smiles and LOVES his volunteers and rescue teams. The world outside is still kind of scary but with each event hes getting better and better. Before he would frantically spin the entire walk, but now he will patiantly sit on the grass at our Point Loma event or on a Pack Walk. True to any large dog, he doesn't know hes massive and anyone sitting on the grass is bound to have a Kito as a lap warmer. He loves hugs, brushes and being told how darn good looking he is. He is quite large, so he will need someone strong and well grounded to walk him in the event something spooks him unexpectedly. Although he's never met a person he didn't like, due to size, we are saying no kids under the age of 15, he's just WAY too goofy and tall. Because of my Flight Risk I cannot be left unattended in a yard, crate training is a must when you are gone, tight grip on the leash is a must on adventures and my new family must be aware of open doors and windows.  No off leash activites for life in unfenced areas.  I need to stay safe.To adopt: https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/37765/genericTo foster: https://petstablished.com/foster_form/37764/genericEmail: awayhomefordogs@gmail.com ##1305366##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.COURTESY POST: Meet Ember! Meet Ember, a vibrant 2-year-old Siberian Husky who is searching for her forever home! Just a few months ago, Ember was adopted from the San Diego Humane Society by a loving family who had previously welcomed another Siberian Husky named Willow into their lives. While Willow, now 6, has been a cherished member of the family, they believe Ember could be the perfect partner for her after the heart-wrenching loss of their previous pup. However, as time has passed, it has become clear that, despite their best efforts, Ember's energetic and spirited nature simply doesn't mesh with Willow's more laid-back personality. Though the two dogs enjoy each other’s company during outdoor playdates, the dynamics of home life have proved to be challenging. The family has gone above and beyond in trying to find a harmonious balance, enrolling Ember and Willow in training and working to establish structure. However, as senior citizens, they find themselves unable to meet Ember's high energy and exercise needs. It’s commendable that they have made the decision to prioritize Ember's well-being by seeking a more active family. I’ve personally witnessed their dedication and the lengths they have gone to help Ember adjust, and it’s clear that this decision comes from a place of love and responsibility. Ember is a true gem of a dog—sweet, playful, loves to swim and incredibly intelligent. She thrives on human interaction, loves children, and has shown herself to be a loyal and adaptable companion. Ember is not only potty trained and house trained, but she has also completed several months of professional training, mastering her commands with ease. Her gentle demeanor means she won’t destroy your belongings or chew on furniture, making her the perfect buddy for a cozy Netflix night as much as for adventurous outings. With her striking hazel eyes and soft fur, Ember's beauty is sure to capture the hearts of anyone who meets her. To ensure her continued success, we believe that Ember would thrive in a home where she can benefit from group dog walks and training classes that help channel her energy and maintain her obedience. She is healthy, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed, making her ready to start her new adventure with a loving family who understands the unique needs of her breed. If you live in Southern California, specifically in Escondido, San Diego County, or nearby areas, and have a secure yard along with another friendly dog, Ember could be the perfect addition to your family. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to welcome this wonderful dog into your life! If you're ready to embrace Ember's joyful spirit, visit tlck9rescue.org to apply for adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Jake’s life began on the streets of Mexico, where every day was a struggle to survive. By the time he was rescued, this tiny puppy was petrified of everything—human touch, loud sounds, even a gentle breeze made him flinch. His little body carried fear, and his eyes told a story of hardship no puppy should ever endure. But everything changed the day Jake entered TLC K9 Rescue’s care. With patience, love, and steady training, his walls slowly began to crumble. Every treat, every kind word, every quiet moment reminded him that the world could be safe. Bit by bit, his confidence returned. Today, Jake is blossoming into the loving, gentle puppy he was always meant to be. He wags, he plays, he trusts—and his future is finally bright. Now all he needs is a forever family to love him just as deeply as he loves back. We can’t wait to see Jake flourish in his very own home.
