Story
Dorian is looking for his forever home!! Dorian was pulled from the shelter after spending 680 long days - nearly 2 years in LAs shelter system. Despite spending 2 years in an outdoor concrete kennel, with minimal human interaction, he held on to hope and has been the most resilient boy. Most dogs don’t last that long in high kill shelters, but Dorian was a staff favorite. He did well with volunteers who brought him out for play groups and they advocated for him to keep him alive. But still somehow no one wanted to adopt him. We saw a post about him and immediately knew we had to get this boy of that environment and into a foster home. Since then we have all fallen in love! We now understand why he was a staff favorite. He's the silliest Akita Inu mix, and he's as loyal and loving as they come. He is extremely handsome and the sweetest, most easy going guy. Dorian is crate trained, potty trained, and knows several commands. He can be nervous around strangers, but once he knows you, he loves you for life! Dorian is dog friendly, and he is an absolute goofball when he plays. Dorian loves to go for walks (cue the happy hops) and crash for a nap next to his person. He would be fantastic with a person with Akita experience or someone who understands/has researched the breed. Dorian is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and currently on flea tick and heartworm medication. Overall. he's in good health, and we believe he is around 6-7 years old and weighs 80 lbs. We recently did his DNA test with Embark, and he is an Akita Inu, American Akita, Pittie mix. If you’d like to see videos of Dorian you can visit the instagram page @fenwayfluff and see the story highlight called “Dorian”. He is currently being fostered in San DiegO

How this pet arrived:Kobu was brought in by Humane Law Enforcement on November 6th, 2024 Why this pet is the one for you:Kobu is a big, strong dog with a noble and independent spirit. While we're still getting to know his full personality, it's clear that he has the dignified, loyal nature typical of the breed. Akitas can be reserved, and Kobu is no exception-he enjoys having his own space, especially given his size, so he's looking for a home where he can stretch out comfortably. We're thinking Kobu is the quiet, mysterious type. He's still adjusting to new experiences, but with patience, he'll likely bond deeply with his family. If you're familiar with the breed and can provide him the space and calm he needs, Kobu could be a great companion. Don't forget to bring a leash and collar! At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. Kobu is now ready for his new home! Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: Black Weight: 71.2 Age: 2yrs 0mths 1wks

Story
Nala is a purebred akita. She has been rehomed now 4 times now so i’m trying to find her a forever home. She’s very sweet and has tons of energy. Would prefer her to move into a home with a backyard, but has been an apartment dog so if needed. She may do better either being an only dog or in a home with a younger dog than her. She comes with a crate, her bowl, some toys, and her leash.
