Story
Max is a lovable, family-friendly 3-year-old dog looking for a new forever home. We took him and his brother in from a previous owner who, due to illness, was no longer able to care for them. Unfortunately, they had been left in a barn, neglected and overfed, spending most of their days lying down. When they joined our family, both were unable to walk for more than five minutes at a time. Since then, Max has flourished with regular exercise, a healthy diet, and lots of love. He enjoys hiking, playing, and snuggling with his people. He is fully house-trained, incredibly sweet, and gentle with small children, making him an ideal family dog. While we adore Max, we already have two German Shepherds, and our home is simply too small for such a large crew. We’re searching for a loving home that can welcome Max (and ideally his brother too) as part of the family, offering them a stable diet, plenty of exercise, and room to thrive.

Story
Gunner is a sweet, 3-year-old dog looking for a new forever home. He came to us along with his brother, Max, after their previous owner became too ill to care for them. Sadly, they had been neglected and left in a barn, spending most of their time lying down and being overfed. When they arrived, they couldn’t walk for more than five minutes at a time. Since joining our family, Gunner has made incredible progress. With regular exercise, a healthy diet, and lots of love, he’s grown into a happy and healthier version of himself. Gunner loves hiking, playing, and snuggling, but he has a shy and sensitive side that makes him especially endearing. He’s house-trained, gentle, and wonderful with small children, making him a great fit for a family. While we love Gunner deeply, we already have two German Shepherds, and our home is simply too small for all of them. We’re looking for a loving home that can welcome Gunner (and his brother Max) with open arms, offering plenty of love.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If you are looking for a mellow, mature girl to be your companion, Cici may be the pyrfect girl for you! This beautiful girl may not be a young pup, but she is still full of zest and is more than happy to accompany you as you run your errands, work on chores in and around the house, or go for a leisurely walk in the neighborhood. Cici is looking for a loving home where she can have her own furever people to love and care for. This girl takes the responsibility of furever best friends seriously - once she bonds with you, she will give you all her heart and swear to protect you furever and ever! Cici prefers to be the only pooch in the household so she can enjoy all the love and attention you have to offer. On the other hand, this girl can be very playful with the right toys, and it is always a joy to watch her run around and fling her toy in the air to catch. This lovely girl will do well in a relatively quiet home where her people enjoy her company as she continues into her golden years. Are you ready to apply to be Cici's furever best friend? NYS Registered Rescue # RR102 Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. We may consider fostering for some of our dogs who are in boarding. Please visit Fostering FAQfor an application and information about our fostering program. If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page. Please complete the adoption application and visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about Pyrs and our adoption process. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a non-profit, tax-exempt rescue who has been rescuing the breed for 15 years.  Visit nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed. More Information: Questions? The fastest way to learn more about a dog is to fill out our online application.
