Meet Kahu!-2 year old spayed female Anatolian Shepherd mix (Anatolian is just a guess!)-Weighs 74lbs-Came into the Shelter as a fearful stray but is now thriving in a foster home-Dog friendly and loves to play. Highly recommended to go to a home with a confident resident dog-Enjoys going for hikes and to the beach with her foster family-House trained and does well when left alone at home-No history with cats-In foster with dog savvy kidsNow through December 23rd – the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is hosting “Home for the Holidays”. This adoption event reduces the adoption fee for all cats, rabbits and dogs to $50. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Meet Clyde!-8 month male Anatolian mix (breed is simply a guess!)-Arrived to the Shelter as a stray so we do not know about his life before the Shelter-Was found by our awesome animal control officers in some agricultural fields with two dog friends-After some snacks and sweet talking, staff were able to bring him and his friends in for safety-Looking for a patient adopter to help him transition to indoor living. Things like leash walking and house training may be new for this gentle giant-Has met dogs at the Shelter and has done well-No history with cats or childrenThrough December 31, this pet has a reduced adoption fee of just $50!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week!
