Story
Welcome Jazz to CCPAL Rescue. Jazz is a 2-year-old Airedale/Irish Terrier Mix dog. She weighs about 70 pounds and has the scruffy terrier coat. She is not a big shedder and is very friendly. Jazz had an elderly man owner. Her owner is now in hospice so CCPAL was asked to step up for his 3 dogs. Jazz has some loss of hair and will be taking a NexGard. This will take care of it and she will be as good as new in a few weeks. Her owner is not doing well and the only option is for all 3 of these dogs to find a new forever home. They are well behaved and have some commands under their belt. Jazz knows sit and is decent on a leash. We do think she is potty trained as she doesn’t go in her kennel. She is very attentive and naturally bonds well with men. She wants to do what you ask and can be an only or go with other dogs. She is a stronger willed than the boy named Jett. She is a wonderful dog. She has lived in a home with two large males and did great. She would be a great companion for someone wanting a active companion that is less of a shedding dog. She is currently in Texas at the CCPAL. She can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpalrescue.org See her cute video!!

Story
Hello my name is Athena, I’m from Minnesota! From her foster: Athena is a one-year-old bundle of joy who is ready to find her forever family! This energetic and curious pup is always on the lookout for her next adventure. Whether it’s exploring the backyard, sniffing out new trails, or chasing after squeaky toys (her absolute favorite!), Athena lives life with enthusiasm and a wagging tail. At night, Athena is a champ at settling into her crate, making her a great companion for families who value a good night’s rest. While she’s still learning leash manners and sometimes pulls a bit in her excitement, Athena is eager to please and would thrive with continued training. Like any young dog, Athena can get a little mouthy when playing with toys, but she’s learning boundaries and responds well to positive redirection. She’s a playful and affectionate girl who just needs a family ready to guide her as she grows. If you’re looking for an energetic, toy-loving companion who will keep you smiling, Athena is your girl! She would do great as a single pet or with an another dog who loves to play! She gets along great with our resident dog. Athena does have a tendency to bark when she sees animals outside, but it's because she's excited! A home with no shard walls may be best. We don't have a cat, so I cannot speak to how she would be around them. Athena can play a little rough so a home with older children that she couldn't knock over would be ideal!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Logan, the 4-year-old Airedale Terrier/Poodle mix with a heart as big as his paws!  This goofy, gentle giant has an endearing personality and gets along wonderfully with dogs & people of all sizes. Logan is lower energy, loves to play fetch (he's still perfecting the art of returning the ball), and absolutely adores his humans. His favorite trick? A happy, clumsy bounce when you come home—no jumping on you, just pure joy. He also loves going on short walks and going to the dog park! He’s intelligent, even-tempered, and super friendly—he assumes every human is his new best friend and loves to be petted! He has a great attitude and wants to obey and make you happy. Despite being heartworm positive, Logan is on track for treatment and will be as good as new soon. This lovable, long-legged goofball is ready to find his new home. Could Logan be the missing piece of your family? If you think he just might be, please go fill out an adoption application today.. He just can't wait to meet you!  Logan is from Texas.  One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 27, 2025, 8:40 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Introducing Squash, a delightful 4-year-old Wheaten Terrier with a heart full of love and a personality to match! This charming girl may be a bit shy at first, but give her a little time, and you'll be rewarded with her infectious smile, full-body wiggles, and sweet requests for pets. Squash is your loyal shadow, following you everywhere and showering you with her warm affection. Wheaten Terriers are known for their friendly and playful nature, and Squash is no exception! She adores playing with her furry friends, showcasing her playful spirit and gentle demeanor. While she loves her food, she’s still figuring out the concept of treats—watching her ponder the mystery of a treat in your hand is simply endearing! Squash has a beautiful, soft coat that she enjoys having brushed, and she’s always ready to return the favor with a shower of kisses. As a devoted mama, she was incredibly nurturing to her puppies, showing her loving side in the most tender way. Though she's still mastering the art of leash walking, Squash is making progress every day. For now, a fenced area is the perfect place for her to practice her skills while enjoying the great outdoors. While she may not pay much attention to the resident cats, she’s always on the lookout for an opportunity to snag their food—after all, who can resist a tasty treat? Each day, Squash’s confidence blossoms, and her adorable nub wags with excitement as she gazes up at you, inspiring smiles all around. She’s currently working on her kennel and potty training, and while she’s usually quiet in her kennel, she does need frequent bathroom breaks to keep it clean. If you’re looking for a sweet companion who will fill your life with joy, cuddles, and a bit of mischief, Squash is your girl! With her charming personality and loving nature, she’s sure to steal your heart in no time. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Deborah or Debbie as she goes by, also Debs is the sweetest bashful girl you're going to meet. She bats her beautiful eyelashes at you and your heart melts. She wags her whole bottom at you and will often  jump up to greet you. However, when there is more than one person around, she tends to keep her distance or be very reserved. Debbie is learning to trust people and she does great one on one and building trust with women comes easy while men will have to work a little harder at it. Debbie is so submissive and kind it almost breaks your heart. She's smart and a very good listener. She happily goes in her crate and house training was a breeze with her. Her ideal home is quiet with one or two adults who can give her the love and affection she craves. Debbie has great potential to become a good leash walker and be trained to do about anything. However, she is very jumpy and nervous when she hears loud noises, so patience with her is a must. She also needs another dog to help her build confidence and a fenced yard to keep her safe. Who has love to give this very deserving girl? Please fill out an application to meet her.
