Story
It pains us that this is the last resort for our 10 year old companion. Polo came into our life shortly after we married. He's been a ball of joy and burst of energy. We purchased Polo from a reputable breeder in Houston. Until recently, Polo has never had any major health issues. In July, while housed with our sitter, he was playing and jumped from the bed, dislocating his left hip. Since dislocation, and an attempt to put it back in place - it's been determined surgery would be the next step. Unfortunately, at this time, our family can't afford the surgery expense and believe it would be best to rehome Polo. Polo is fun loving, has loved our girls from infancy to now. Having him confined to a playpen isn't ideal and we would love to have the right family take him in and love him just as much as he'll love you!

Story
Marley has been our family member for 12 years. He loves attention and loves to be around humans. If you work from home or don’t work at all, he will be your best friend! Super loyal dog. Unfortunately, he has been jealous since we brought home our baby girl and though he’s always been a good boy, we know he will thrive more where there’s no babies around and attention is on him.

Story
Meet Cheeto! One of our dedicated foster moms, Jen, saw Cheeto being given away on social media and offered to foster him. We were delighted to welcome this adorable 1-year-old Terrier Mix into our rescue. Cheeto is an incredibly sweet pup with lots of youthful energy. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to play. Cheeto currently lives with Jen, her three older dogs, and multiple cats. Initially, he was somewhat barky with the other dogs as he had never lived with canine companions before. He needed to learn appropriate play communication, but he picked it up quickly and is now a great pack member. He would pair well with a playful dog that matches his energy, or he'd thrive as an only dog with an active family who engages him in walks and play. Initially, he showed a lot of interest in the cats, but he's adapting to them too and learning to be friends. While he's not a natural with kitties, he could be paired with a dog-savvy cat and a patient owner. This sweet boy's primary focus is on his people. He wants to be near them and is always aware of where they are. Though very active, he responds well to routine, has learned to take naps, and does well with crate training. He's comfortable in the car and always ready for adventure. He’s still new to leash walks, so he'll need continued practice. Cheeto takes time to warm up to strangers and may be initially barky, but settles down once comfortable. He likely hasn't had many interactions with new people or experiences, but as a young dog, he'll continue to develop with more exposure. With some Terrier in his background, he's naturally somewhat vocal and not ideal for condo or apartment living. Foster mom, Jen, checked in with an update: "Cheeto is a fun, energetic, and happy little guy. He shows initial anxiety around new people through barking and avoidance. However, if initially ignored (no talk, touch, or eye contact), he settles down and accepts them. He's confident within his home and with his family. Once he understands his new pack’s dynamics, there will never be a time when someone says that Cheeto is anything but sweet. Now that he's settled in, Cheeto has discovered the joys of cuddling and napping with his people. He's mostly housetrained but needs regular breaks. He follows my other dogs' lead, is crate-trained, and willingly enters his crate for treats. I crate him when I'm away and at night. Being young, he'll find things to chew if unsupervised, but he's easily redirected with toys and bones. He loves chew bones and squeaky toys and excels at fetch, reliably returning items. Cheeto is high energy but responds to redirection. He is highly trainable and loves treats He would be a great candidate for training and agility classes.  I think he could be a brewery dog given exposure, practice, and patience. He loves car rides! A yard with a fence or room to play fetch outside regularly would be ideal. I think following the 3 day, 3 week, 3 month rule for newly adopted dogs would result in him being a wonderful family pet.    Overall, Cheeto has made wonderful progress in just a few weeks and could adapt quickly to almost any family willing to invest time in his training. My animals love him, as do I, my family members, and visitors. He'll make a wonderful addition and has so much potential. I am so proud of him." ********* This adorable pup will bring joy and love to your home. He needs an active family who is ready to show him the ropes while continuing his training. Apply today!
