Story
Hello! I'm Luna, like the moon, and guess what? I like to sleep! I was found on the street and nobody ever claimed me, sadly. I'm a plump girl on a diet so I may find some energy when I'm at a healthier weight. I'm friendly with cats, dogs, and children, too. I'm pretty lazy but I do enjoy my walks. I am good in a kennel and I know to do my potty business outside. If you'd like to meet me, please apply!

Puppies too young to be spayed/neutered are available for Foster-to-Adopt only.  A FTA contract is required.   Heidie was picked up as a stray by the Montgomery County Animal Shelter.  She was filthy, sick, flea infested, matted and had rotting teeth  in her mouth with infection.  She had a severe cough and was ready to die.  The shelter rescue coordinator reached out to us and we said yes!  She completed her 3 day stray hold, cos, 'the law, ya know'  and went to our vet immediately.  She was on 2 different antibiotics, cough tabs, and sent home with multiple ear medications due to both ears full of gunk.(infection) She had shut down.  Lethargy and malaise were all we got our of her.  She cried when we medicated her.  Pain management was introduced. Then, one day, she let us medicate her without too much struggle, then the next day, it was less a struggle.  She came to us for loves and pets.  She started seeking affection.  She soon began to play.  She can hear!! She's a delightful, sweet girl who will do well with in a home where she can be your couch and bed buddy.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 2, 2024, 3:10 pm

Heaven is a 7-year-old female who has made an incredible transformation after being rescued from a hoarding situation in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl. When she first arrived, she faced many challenges: she was fearful, had untreated ear infections, dental disease, and was covered in fleas. Thanks to the loving care of her foster mom, Heaven has fully recovered. She’s now spayed, healthy, and flea-free, with her ear infections and dental issues all treated. Though she was initially very timid, Heaven has learned to trust and accept love from her foster family. While she is still on the shy side, her confidence continues to grow every day. Heaven gets along well with other dogs and would thrive in a home with another small, calm dog who can help her continue to blossom. Heaven is looking for a patient and loving family who will understand her gentle, sensitive nature. She’s come a long way from her difficult past and is now ready to find a forever home where she can feel safe and cherished. If you're ready to give Heaven the loving home she deserves, please apply to adopt her at Yorkie Rescue Houston's website.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 2, 2024, 3:10 pm

Zoe is a 5-year-old spayed female who knows what she wants in life! Rescued from the Baytown Animal Shelter, Zoe is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and will soon be ready for her forever home. She’s completed her 30-day doxycycline regimen and has received her first heartworm treatment injection, with her final two treatments scheduled. Zoe is full of personality and is definitely a bossy little lady! She enjoys affection and attention but prefers to be in control of her space. Zoe would thrive as the only dog in the home, or with a calm, older dog who won’t invade her personal bubble. She has little tolerance for younger, more energetic dogs getting too close, so she’s best suited for a quieter home. While she’s on crate rest for her heartworm treatment, Zoe has shown herself to be a calm companion, content to lounge and enjoy snuggles with her humans. Once her treatment is complete, she’ll be ready to start a new, active chapter in her life! Zoe is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and will soon be heartworm-free. She’s ready for a family who understands her independent spirit and can give her the love and boundaries she needs. If Zoe sounds like your perfect match, please apply to adopt her at Yorkie Rescue Houston's website!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 16, 2024, 9:41 am

Story
BOOSTS YOUR MOOD, MAKES YOU SMILE  Est. DOB 1/7/15, WEIGHT 12.7 lbs. Arf! Arf, everyone! I’m Sammy, a sweet, friendly, quiet, and affectionate white Maltipoo (Maltese/ Mini Poodle mix) fella who is, in my humble opinion, the world’s greatest little dog. I think my foster mom agrees because she loves it that I curl up and settle in her lap whenever I can. There are two resident dogs and a cat in my foster home, but I’m much rather interact with beloved Foster Mom than play with them. I have a comical idiosyncrasy: I like to burrow under anything I can move and get under. You name it – bedcovers, blankets, pillows, throws. Foster Mom thinks it’s adorable that a cute little thing such as I am likes to excavate my own little lair like a mole. Let me tell you a little about Maltipoos. We’re gentle, social dogs who love people. Our happy, cheerful dispositions are guaranteed to boost your mood and make you smile. We can even be good therapy dogs because of the comfort we provide. And I’m no exception to this profile! I really looked like a mess when my foster mom first rescued me! Oh my goodness – I weighed only 10 pounds! You could see every bone on my vertebrae, plus I had no hair on my back. My eyes were practically glued shut with “goop” from an infection; I also had an ear infection; and my mouth was a mess from neglected preventative dentistry. Thank heavens Foster Mom and the vet have transformed me into a new man! With a steady diet of nutritious food, I’ve gained 2.5 pounds, I’m filling out nicely, and my fur is growing back! I’m eating a soft diet that’s appropriate after all of the diseased teeth (that hadn’t already fallen out) have been pulled. I look and feel so much better! And the silver lining about having no teeth is that I don't need any future dental cleanings! Medications have cleared up my original eye and ear infections. The vet also diagnosed that I have a condition called “dry eye,” which means that I don’t produce tears like I should. So Foster Mom puts drops in my eyes twice a day and cleans out any “goop” once to twice a day Thanks to the hair around my eyes being clipped, Foster Mom can clean out my eyes easier. I have cataracts in both eyes so I have very limited visibility and bump into things, but get around once I've learned my way! I generally move slow so I don’t hurt myself ! Even though I sleep a good portion of the day, I am quite aware of sounds and scents. I will sound the alarm at unfamiliar noises. I will track Foster Mom down if she has moved from where I left her using my superior olfactory senses. My ideal home would be one that has a doggie door to a small fenced back yard and someone to keep me company.  I’m so grateful for all the love and attention that I’m getting! In return, I snuggle and cuddle like you wouldn’t believe! I’ve learned how to use the doggie door, and I’m now crate-trained. If you’re looking for a cozy lap dog and can look past my limitations, I’d really like to be your dog! Half of my life is still ahead of me, so let’s spend it together! My heart has so much love to give, all that’s missing is YOU!
