Story
Meet Gina, a precious 8 year old, 9 pound Yorkie girl being fostered in Kyle, TX. Only Texas applicants will be considered. Pupdate: Miss Gina is doing well here. She is an absolute sweetheart and very well mannered in the house. She is finally able to be around my best friends dog, but it took several weeks of interaction. We, however feel that Gina will do best as the only pet in the home. She LOVES her daily walks. We walk 1-2 times a day, up to about 1/2-2/3 of a mile each time. Due to her never being socialized she does react to other animals and some people by barking, but her walks are the best way to introduce her to something she was not given. We do feel over time, she will know that this will be just a normal situation. Gina has also decided that the Halloween decor is not her friend too LOL!! If her furever family decides no walks, that's ok too, as long as she has a yard to play in! She loves to go out in the backyard and chase squirrels and lizards, so a home with a fenced yard is a priority. Inside she's super sweet. If I leave the large living area, she is right on my heels...all the way into the bathroom! She's so quiet inside that I hung some bells on her collar so that I know where she is! Gina loves to be petted and scratched and lays right next to you. Gina is learning everything about being with humans, you can tell she had such a sad life prior without much human interaction. At bedtime I let her snuggle in bed, then she leaves to go in her crate because she gets very anxious in the evenings. She has recently started some meds for that and is doing much better. She needs to be with someone who is home most of the day and can let her in and out as needed and give her the attention she never had growing up. She really is such a sweetheart! Gina is doing so well! She is spayed and had a dental cleaning and they had to remove 3 more teeth, but she still has most of her teeth. She has done amazingly well on a mostly carnivore diet here. Her hair has stopped falling out and she has gained some weight! She does have a little heart murmur that may require medication in the future. This girl LOVES her daily walks. She actually jumps and dances when it's time to go out, lol. She will initially bark (a lot) at new people, but after she's been allowed to sniff them, she loves them. She does well with older kids, but she hasn't been around any young ones. She is definitely an alpha female and it appears that she had to fight for everything where she came from. I believe she may have been abused. She only barks when there are new people or other animals in her sight. She does not care for other dogs and will need to be an only pet. She will watch you eat, but will not whine or beg for food. If you leave the room, she will follow you. She loves being petted and scratched. She would prefer to sleep with you, but will sleep in her crate without any problems. I think she would be best with someone who is retired, or home most of the time. I also think she's a little hard of hearing. Gina is the name she came into the shelter with, so I didn't change it. I do, however, call her Gina, Gigi, Miss G, or Pretty Girl.

Prospective adopters must be able to travel to San Antonio to complete the adoption process.  Please apply online at http://texasgreatdane.org/adoption-application/ ** Meet Windy! Windy is a 3.5-month-old Yorkie mix(we are guessing on this) weighing about 5 pounds. She is a sweet, playful little pup with a curious nature and a gentle heart. Windy enjoys playing with toys and exploring her surroundings, then happily curling up for cuddle time when she’s ready to rest. Windy can be a bit timid when there’s a lot of new or busy activity, but she does best with a calm, patient approach and quickly warms up once she feels safe. She’s still learning the ropes of house training and currently uses pee pads. Windy is also comfortable with a crate, which will make continuing her training much easier. Windy would thrive in a loving home that understands puppy training and is ready to help her grow into a confident, happy little dog. If you’re looking for a tiny companion who is equal parts playful and snuggly, Windy could be your perfect match! Please understand you are committing to providing a good home for her entire life (up to 15+ years or more) - not just until her puppy cuteness wears off. You must be committed to housebreaking, age-appropriate enrichment and exercise, leash training, grooming needs, and positive socialization. Like most puppies, she may chew on anything within her reach to include but not limited to baseboards, shoes, socks, children's toys, electrical cords, plants, etc. Her adoption fee is $300. This includes her spay surgery, rabies vaccination, Nobivac® Canine 1-DAPP vaccinations, Bravecto®, Drontal® Plus, Tri-Heart® Plus Chewable Tablet, 24PetWatch® microchip, and leash and collar. Please be aware that puppies and small breed dogs do get adopted quickly so interested parties are encouraged to apply online at www.saspca.org. Please ensure your application is complete before submitting. We do verify property ownership, landlord references, apartment/HOA restrictions, veterinary references.
