She has not been feeling well and I can’t afford a vet. I’m under financial strain. I’m afraid that she’s dying and I don’t know what to do cause I don’t have much money and I’m heartbroken. Please someone help me with this quickly. I don’t want to see her suffer anymore.

Story
Cookie’s story didn’t start the way it should have. She came from a heartbreaking hoarding situation and is only just beginning to learn what safety, kindness, and love really feel like. Because of that, Cookie is incredibly shy and will need a very special person—someone gentle, patient, and willing to let her move at her own pace. Though she may not rush up for attention, Cookie is quietly taking everything in. Each day she makes small, brave steps forward, learning that hands can be kind and homes can be calm. Her coat is finally starting to grow back, and as it fills in, it’s easy to see the beautiful dog she’s becoming—inside and out. Cookie truly shines when she’s around other confident, dog-loving dogs. They help show her the ropes and give her the reassurance she needs to feel safe and secure. A home with a friendly canine companion would be ideal for her. Cookie is looking for her “just right” person—the one who understands that love doesn’t always come fast, but when it does, it’s deeply meaningful. If you have a soft heart, a quiet home, and the patience to help a shy soul learn how wonderful life can be, Cookie just might be the dog you’ve been waiting for. 💕

Story
Current Location: Spring Grove, PA Meet Nathan: A Spirited Little Adventurer Looking for His Perfect Match This scruffy 13 pound terrier poodle mix is a bundle of blonde and gold energy just waiting to brighten your days! At 3 years old, Nathan has the spirit of a dog who believes life is meant to be lived at full throttle: running, playing, fetching, and repeating. Nathan is already showing great promise in some areas. He's crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night without a peep. He's mostly leash trained and ready to go on walks with you (though he might need a little reassurance when darkness falls, as he's still working on being brave at night). He absolutely loves his chew toys and will happily chase after a ball or toy for as long as you're willing to throw it. This active little guy is still mastering some life skills. He's working on housebreaking and does best when given structure and a consistent routine. He doesn't know commands yet, but he's ready and willing to learn with a patient teacher. Nathan is great with other dogs, though his enthusiasm knows no bounds. He'd absolutely thrive with another playful canine companion who matches his energy and loves to romp. Fair warning: he will chase cats, so a feline free home is best. Nathan needs an active family who appreciates his zest for life and is ready to continue his training journey. Someone who will give him plenty of exercise, engaging playtime, and the guidance to become his best self. If you're looking for a fun loving, spirited companion who will keep you moving and make you smile, Nathan is your guy!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Well can I just say I LOVE the ranch!!  My last house had 148 dogs and it was REALLY nasty!!!  The authorities finally came and got us all!!  Here at the ranch I get spa days and the food is real good and we have a huge field to play in!!  My best friend is Layla.  She is really scared so I stay close to her so she feels safe and hopefully at some point she will start to trust humans again.  The volunteers are really nice.  They hold us and talk to us and its VERY different from what we were used to!  Mom says she is going to attach some pics of where we lived but I am happy to forget all about that and enjoy life. REQUIREMENTS to adopt GiGi MUST HAVE ANOTHER SMALL DOG MUST HAVE A FENCED YARDVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
