An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!Well can I just say I LOVE the ranch!!  My last house had 148 dogs and it was REALLY nasty!!!  The authorities finally came and got us all!!  Here at the ranch I get spa days and the food is real good and we have a huge field to play in!!  My best friend is Layla.  She is really scared so I stay close to her so she feels safe and hopefully at some point she will start to trust humans again.  The volunteers are really nice.  They hold us and talk to us and its VERY different from what we were used to!  Mom says she is going to attach some pics of where we lived but I am happy to forget all about that and enjoy life.REQUIREMENTS to adopt GiGiMUST HAVE ANOTHER SMALL DOGMUST HAVE A FENCED YARDVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!January 27, 2025, 12:33 am

Story
Are you looking for a little snuggle bug to keep you company on the sofa or your lap? Little Chiquita is looking for just that! This little senior Yorky mix was found abandoned in a basement. You would never know her story though, because she is the sweetest little thing! Chiquita is estimated to be about 8 years old and is looking for a nice quiet home to spend her golden years! (So, no little ones for her.) She does well in her crate, although sometimes she likes to complain about it. Her foster mom calls her Grunty Girl sometimes, because she has a lot to say. She walks well on the leash, although she doesn’t go for long walks and goes at a slower pace. Chiquita does well with going potty outside but has occasional accidents. (We always say that regression is common in a new home.). She does well in a crate when riding in the car. Chiquita gets along with her Golden Retriever sister and pretty much ignores the cats, although sometimes they are fun to bark at. She would be fine as an only pet, and I am sure she would love all the attention! She is cautious of strangers but loves her foster family and just wants to be loved, snuggled & give you kisses! She loves being on the sofa, her dog bed or your lap. Chiquita does have some issues with her back legs so no jumping for her, but she is good at going up and down steps. (She has Bilateral Luxating Patellas in both legs.) She has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date with her shots. She did have some teeth pulled, so she is currently on a soft food diet. If you are looking for a couch potato to hang out with, this could be your gal! Just know, that she does like to cheer for the Eagles. (Her foster mom might have made that part up...) Chiquita is being fostered in Strasburg, so you will need to go there to meet her. Someone is going to be very lucky to adopt Chiquita, the sweetest little banana!
