If you qualify and are interested in participating in this program, please fill out an application online and type "SENIOR" after your name.   ** Mrs Potts has been diagnosed with cushing's disease. This is a disorder where the pituitary gland produces excess cortisol. This requires daily medication to keep regulated. Mrs Potts is on Vetoryl 10mg once a day. This medication costs about $69.00 per month. She will also require an ACTH stimulation test every 6-12 months depending on the veterinarian, to make sure her condition is regulated. The testing costs about $145 each time. Her next test will be due 5/7/25-11/7/25. Secondary to the cushings disease, Mrs Potts has Proteinuria. Proteinuria means there is excess protein in her urine. Although dogs usually have a small amount of protein in their urine, too much protein can be a sign of an underlying condition. Proteinuria itself is not a disease—instead, it’s a sign there is an underlying condition that needs attention, in Mrs Pott’s case that disease is Cushing’s disease. She requires management with Enalapril, her dose is 5mg twice a day. The monthly cost is about $25 per month depending on the vet clinic. A UPC  (urine/protein/creatnine) test, should be run on her urine annually. Depending on the clinic this test runs around $22.   Mrs. Potts might not maintain the castle but she will warm your heart!   Foster Home Feedback  11/7/2024 Foster Feedback: Mrs Potts (we call her Honey) is a very sweet girl, a bit shy in the beginning but she warms up fast. She is good with other dogs even groups, but she especially loves her humans the most. Tummy rubs are her favorite thing. She has 2 meds that she needs to be on and we currently have a 3-month supply for her to go along with her adopters. She was potty trained on pads but is doing well going outside. She will sleep in a kennel or recliner or your bed if you let her. She qualities for the senior program although she is only 8 and it would be great if she got a family with people home for her. Please give her a chance you won't be disappointed.   **  Mrs Potts is Lyme and Anaplasmosis positive. These are tick-borne illnesses, and she is currently being treated with Doxycycline. Mrs Potts also  tested positive for Ehrlichia and has completed treatment. A dog's immune system can carry antibodies for Ehrlichia for as long as four years. This means that a dog may test positive for that duration.
