Story
Meet Cody, who comes to us from the Randolph County Animal Shelter. Cody is a 10-year-old, 6 lb., Yorkie. He was owner surrendered, coming from deplorable conditions with overgrown matting, and smelling of feces and urine. Cody was groomed and examined by our vet once we got him into our care. He has no teeth and due to a burst, his left eye will need to be removed within the next month. His right eye does have some light reaction, however, more than likely he will have limited to none vision and he has hearing issues as well. Other than that, Cody is very vibrant, mobile, and so happy to be in a foster home. He has had his first set of vaccines and has been microchipped. Cody's neuter will be scheduled within the next few weeks. Cody would love to find a loving home and a soft place to land for the rest of his days, and if you are interested in giving him that, please reach out to us for an adoption application.

*** CAN GO HOME AFTER 11/26/2024 *** Quick Facts: Name: Little Gracie Estimated Birthday: 6/20/2020 Breed: Yorkshire Terrier Size: 6ish Pounds House Trained: Work in Progress Adoption Fee: $365 Hello, my name is Little Gracie! I'm the cutest and smallest little girl you're ever going to meet. I'm 6 pounds of nothing but love. I used to be a breeder dog, but the person I lived with surrendered me and many of my housemates to the shelter. Due to my breed (Yorkshire Terrier ) I will require regular grooming and brushing. I'm a bit of a spark, I like to run through the yard chasing my 100 pound foster brother, the goal is taking his ball away. I LOVE squeaky toys and can get very vocal if any other dog has one and I'm not allowed to participate in the squeak session. I am a master at sniffing out squirrels and whatnots, they cant hide from me. Apart from sniffing out squirrels I like to lounge around and watch the world revolve around me. I mostly prefer to be carried around for this reason. I've been in a foster home with dogs ranging from 5 pounds to 100, young and senior, male and female, and although I don't engage in playtime I do enjoy their company (Has not been tested around cats). In spite of my size I am very curious and adventurous, some would like to say I'm a large dog trapped in a small dog's body. I'm not an excessive barker and will join the chorus of others, but otherwise I am pretty mellow. I have so much personality and when I meet somebody new or somebody arrives at the house I will greet them with hops and leaps hoping they will pick me right up and give me affection. I would prefer a home with older children, old enough to understand I'm a tiny girl and can be fragile. I'm still working on my potty training but am crate trained and sleep through the night and while my foster parents are at work. *** Little Gracie was used for breeding and most likely kept confined to her crate. Up until now potty training was not something she was taught so potty training will need consistent work and patience. She gets very excited when her people come home and gets jumpy, which is equivalent of being attacked by a dust bunny. Little Gracie is a wonderful little dog, she would be an absolute ray of sunshine in any family who can continue potty training. *** Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - The adoption fee is $365 - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care. - Local adopters only. Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible!

Story
My name is Piper and I am the cutest little thing. I love everyone. I love to kiss and kiss and kiss. I love to be held. I am playful with people and learning to play with dog toys and other dogs. So far I get along with all dogs but get nervous a bit with large dogs. My rescue was told that I could not walk due to a bump on my back. I was found tied to a bench with a diaper on. After seeing my new vet and arriving at my new foster home, not only can I walk but I can run. I may have a wonky gait but I am getting stronger. Our vet said I most likely have a birth defect where my spine has a strange formation causing the lump on my back. I still need diapers because I cannot control my pee and poop. It just pushes out by itself. The good news is it comes out on its own. In spite of my special needs, I am happy and bouncy and oh so loving. If you can embrace my special needs and my awesome personality, I may be the dog for you. I would love a home with another same sized dog. I will need to have my diapers change but do well with that. I would love a fenced in yard so I know I am safe outside. I would love to go places with you. I ride well in the car. I am just perfect. If you have room in your heart and your arms and lap, please apply for me at safeanimalhaven.orgNovember 5, 2024, 12:12 am
