Story
Alfredo is a high energy terrier mix. He's very friendly and loves to play. He has a kitty friend (Fettucini) and they really enjoy playing together and running around so it would be nice if they could find a home together. Alfie would be best in an experienced dog home to help him with a routine. You can check out Fettucini on our kitty page.

Story
Bastille is a very young 7 month old Yorkie/Schnauzer mix pup that is only 11 pounds and destined to be the love of your life.   When he is fully grown he should be a little under 20 pounds and just the right size for all sorts of fun adventures to do together in life.  He is very even tempered and a sweet little guy that really does well with other dogs.  We have not tried him with cats but since he is such a young pup we are sure he could accept and befriend them for life.  He has the perfect demeanor to be great with everyone and every creature he meets.  When he first came to the rescue foster home,  he didn't know what a leash was and we made him learn on a daily basis.  He is getting better at it with each session.  He would not do good in an apartment as he really doesn't like to be crated and will cry to get out.  He will learn the crate but in the meantime an apartment dweller might have some angry and complaining neighbors. Bastille loves to snuggle, give kisses and be your best friend.  He needs a fenced area to run in because he is not a fulltime couch potato but an active little guy that loves to get his zoomies out.  He loves to play with other dogs and we are looking for that kind of opportunity as well.  Whomever adopts him in going to have lots of fun with him.  If you work from home we are totally all for that.  We would like the adopters to be home most of the time to get that one on one time.He is still a puppy so not completely house trained but is crate trained. Lots of potential for this boy.   We want a family with children over 7 years of age and who know how to be gentle with a small dog.  So much potential with this boy to bring joy and love your way.  Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJuly 6, 2024, 10:59 pm

Story
Meet Winston Blue Eyes, our little darling little southern gentleman who is  6-7 years old, 10 pounds, and what we believe to be a Yorkie/Shih Tzu mix. His story before coming to the rescue group, was that he is one of 9 dogs pulled from a hoarding situation. The dogs were kept outside, totally matted, full of fleas/ticks, and starving for everything from good to just a little attention. Winston Blue Eyes  was not pulled for long from the hoarding situation for long before we found a very attentive foster home to take him and work with him.  He needed manners taught, and Winston had to be partially shaved because of all his matts.  As you can see firsthand,  he is still an adorable little guy with the most wonderful blue eyes and clipped by the groomer to look like a little lion with his mane!  Winston is shy when you first when you first meet him and it is very understandable considering his situation in the hoarding case.  He is such a sweetie and he blossoms when he gets to know you and then the kisses and snuggles start. He also loves to explore outside in a clean and nicely mowed backyard.  He is not totally housebroken which is so understandable considering the horrible conditions he moved from.  He does get along well with his foster sisters and all his vetting is done with his neuter, vaccines, heartworm checked (negative), put on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, de-wormed, and microchipped.  He is going to be someone’s prize companion. If you want more info on Winston, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com for an adoption form.    PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 6, 2024, 10:59 pm

Story
We have a wide range of sizes, breeds, and personalities who have been waiting for a long time to find homes in which to live out their lives. All have been vet-checked, spayed/neutered and updated on shots. Some are in great health and hopefully will have many years to enjoy with their new owners... others are being treated for some medical issues and need some extra care to keep them happy and comfortable for whatever time they have left. We do not have a shelter- all our pets are in foster homes and can be seen by appointment only during the week, or at our weekly pet adoptions every Sunday at the Animal Clinic of Morris Plains from 12:30 to 3PM at 3009 Route 10 East next to 5 Star Car Wash (formerly Boulder Car Wash) in Morris Plains (Denville on GPS). To help us better match a pet to your household, we request you fill out an application on our homepage www.secondchance.petfinder.com and copy and paste it into an email, or print it and bring it to our adoption day when you come. Local inquiries only please- we do not do long distance adoptions. Can't adopt but still want to help this dog? Click on the "Sponsor Me" button at the top of this page to donate toward his/her care! All donations are tax-deductible and go directly toward the care of our rescue dogs. Thank you for your support!

Story
Meet Reeses, as in Reese’s Pieces 🍬 When we first met her she was terrified and wanted to rip us to pieces, but give her a few days and she will love you to pieces instead! Nothing is more rewarding than earning the trust of these scared little ones whose instinct is to lash out when scared, and watching their entire personality change once they realize they can trust you. This under 2 year old scruffy yorkie/Shih tzu mix has plenty of reason to be so distrustful. Her owner never socialized her with other people and would go on vacations and leave her alone in her apartment for days at a time. One day she got evicted and just left this scared little girl behind. Luckily authorities found her before it was too late and healthwise she’s just fine. Her emotional trauma from being left alone so much and getting proper socialization as a puppy are much harder to overcome. Once she loves you, there is no better snuggler. If she could somehow melt into you or fuse herself to your lap like some kind of siamese twin she would do it in a heartbeat. Velcro dog isn’t a strong enough term, she’s more like a magnet 🧲 who will do whatever it takes to get to her person. No gate can hold her, she climbs out of any expen, leaps or squeezes through extra tall baby gates (we haven’t witnessed all of her magical escapes, just know she’s always somehow popping up places she’s not supposed to be 😆). Luckily she’s (grudgingly) cratable though not quietly and will need some practice being left alone- it takes her some time screaming out her protests but she does eventually settle and go to sleep. Unless you want to come home and find her walking around on top of your kitchen counter or refrigerator like a cat we definitely recommend sticking with the crate training. Reeses is looking for a patient adult home that will love this crazy little monkey 🙉 flying squirrel 🐿️ cat 🐈 hybrid, for better or worse, and have a sense of humor about her antics and adventurous spirit. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Reeses in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Frankie wants you to know he’s enjoying being able to see with the mats trimmed from over his eyes! He’s been neutered so his breeding days are over at last, and needed a bunch of teeth pulled during his dental due to premature decay from his living conditions. He’s under 10lbs, a Yorkiepoo, 3 years old, and shy but inquisitive. He loves the ladies and is looking for a calmer adult home with at least one other compatible doggie friend in the household. He was rescued from a puppy mill so walking on leash, housebreaking, and living in a real home are all foreign concepts to him right now and he will need some patience as he adjusts. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet him in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ.
