Story
***** IMPORTANT! Read note at bottom regarding what a Hero Dog is and the adoption fee ***** Huxley is a 1.5 yr old Yorkie boy weighing in at about 11-12 lbs. He is a sweet, affectionate, energetic, happy-go-lucky little guy who just wants to play, play, play with other dogs all day. For this reason, we feel most comfortable placing him in a home where he will have a fursibling to do just that. He is great with dogs of all sizes, small and extra large - he loves them all! And he’s even fine around cats, too! He is currently located near Trenton NJ. Aside from being a great addition to any home, what makes Huxley even more special is the fact that he is a Hero Dog who has a greater purpose — saving the lives of fellow pets in urgent need. ————- IMPORTANT NOTE! —————- A Hero Dog is one who is specifically donated to our rescue in order to raise critically needed funds for life-saving surgeries of other pets in the rescue. Huxley’s $2000 adoption fee will be used for Della’s amputation surgery, King’s eye removal surgery, and Gunner’s rectal prolapse repair (which currently total apx $10k). You can view a photo collage of these 3 dogs in the photo gallery. Many people do not think twice about ‘purchasing’ a purebred pet from a breeder for thousands of dollars, which simply puts a profit in somebody’s pocket. In this case, the adoption fee/donation is actually used to SAVE THE LIVES of other pets who would have been euthanized because a small 501c3 rescue like ours does not have the necessary funding or adequate donations to do so otherwise. In essence, when you adopt this pet, you may be opening your heart and home to one dog, but you’re actually saving the lives of 4 altogether. By doing so, you become a sponsor of those dogs too and you will get continuous updates as to their progress and as they embark on their journey to finding their fairytale ending as well. Thank you for your understanding and for partnering with us in this mission. We are a small team of volunteers with well over 100 dogs in our rescue at any given time, all of whom were saved from death row in high kill shelters or had been abandoned in their community. No one here receives a salary of any kind so 100% of every dollar donated goes directly to the animals in our care and your adoption donation is tax deductible. ————————————————— If you are interested in learning more about Huxley, please submit an inquiry or call/text Aly at 732-604-0625 and we will happily share additional photos and videos of him and arrange a meet and greet! Thank you for caring about these deserving pets in need!

Story
Meet Charlotte! Our sweet little Yorkie girl has made great progress since coming into rescue. She was nervous and shy, but has slowly learned to trust and is learning to enjoy affection. Charlotte is a quiet girl, and usually only barks at mealtime or when she wants your attention. She's OK with other dogs, but not too interested in interacting with them, so she would be fine as an only dog. Charlotte is not housetrained, and wears a diaper in the house as we continue with training. A new family with someone at home most of the time would help Charlotte to reach her potential, and have the happy life she deserves. She is 10 yrs old, 7 lbs, and ready for adoption. Charlotte is being fostered in the Newtown Pennsylvania area.

Story
Amber is an affectionate yorkie who came into rescue from a puppy mill. She is fine with other dogs, but prefers the attention of her foster family. Learning how to go up and down stairs and walking on a leash are new skills Amber has learned. She does need consistent training on housebreaking, with lots of praise and reward. A home with a fenced in yard is on her wish list, as she loves to run and explore. Amber is 8 yrs old, 12 lbs, and will be a great companion for the right family.

Story
Meet Tucker, the teeny-tiny Yorkshire Terrier mix! Weighing less than 8 pounds, this 7-year-old cuddlebug is the ultimate lap dog. Tucker adores being held and will happily jump on your leg to ask for snuggles.Tucker was once scared and shaking in a shelter, but he’s blossomed in foster care. He’s a sweet, cuddly boy who loves his humans and is great with smaller dogs under 20 pounds. Big dogs, however, are too overwhelming for him. Tucker also thrives in quieter environments with kids over 12 who understand his small size and gentle nature. While Tucker is working on house and crate training, he’s making excellent progress! He’s decent on a leash and enjoys walks with his family. As a typical yappy Yorkie, Tucker will do best in a standalone home (no apartments or condos, please). He is a barky dog. He will need a family who understands he likes to express himself. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who’s happiest in your lap, Tucker might be the perfect fit. Apply to adopt him today at bcaaofnj.org.Interested in adopting this pet?Click here for BCAA's on-line Application! PLEASE NOTE: Our adoption fee helps to cover our expenses and includes all shots, *age appropriate*, distemper and rabies, fecal check, spay/neuter, heartworm test, grooming, and in many cases dental and also the fee we pay when we rescue from a shelter. Story
We have a transport to the east coast where we will be personally taking our dogs home leaving the beginning of March 2025.Surrounding states will be added to our route if needed ☺️ We would love to add Mitzi to our trip for the right home 😊 Meet Mitzi! She is a purebred yorkie. She weighs 7.3 lbs. Yes, she is full grown and at a very healthy weight. She turns 3 on 12/22/24. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, had a dental cleaning done at time of her spay, and had a thourel exam with our vet who has cleared her to find a home all her own ❤️ Mitzi is crate trained, and will happily sleep in a crate at night in her bed. Now if given the opportunity to sleep in bed with her person, that's where she will be so if you are looking for a snuggle partner at night she will happily be that girl. If you want to continue to have her sleep in her crates she will be fine with that as well, so the ball in definitely in your court 😊 She is house trained, and will go outside to use the restroom when needed throughout the day. She has NO problem running into the yard and finding a good spot to potty. We always watch her because of the wildlife we have here, and she is much to small to be left out alone. She LOVES her walks, and will happily stroll around the neighborhood or town with you. Going out to dinner and want to take your little Angel girl with you? She would be honored especially if you order a few extra veggies on the side for her to enjoy 😉 She is a foodie at heart and loves her carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, apples, watermelon, strawberries, and bananas 😋 She is wonderful with other dogs and cats alike. She does enjoy being the princess in our home though so if you are looking for a little one to spoil with all of your love and time then she would never even for a second complain and will allow the pampering to begin at your hearts desire 😍 If you do have another sweet dog, or cat in your home she would be just fine with that too, and would come in loving them just the same, but with stipulations in order that she does require some level of pampering and they will need to be okay with her occasional time with her humans as she truly values that time😊 She is wonderful in the home, and has great house manners. She is NOT a barker at all, and may or may not alert you of unfamiliar sounds as it depends if it's interfering with her midday nap because we all know a princess needs their beauty rest 😉 She is free spirited and while she loves to be with her person, she is also very independent and will go about her day doing as she pleases whatever that may entail. She is a wonderful companion, and one that you will forever be grateful saying yes to! She will add a lot of love, joy, laughter, and friendship to your life and home from the moment she becomes a part of it as it'll seem as if she has always been a part of it ❤️ She is wonderful on road trips around town, or long distance as we have been on a 3 hour road trip with her and she did phenomenal, and was happy just to be a part of what we were doing 😊 She loves her spa dates with our our groomer and is always happy to see her so having a groomer that will also build a relationship with Mizi moving forward will be ideal for her enjoyment because she understands and appreciates the friendships she makes along the way and always remembers our groomer ❤️ Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/mitzi It covers her spay, vaccines, microchip/registration, her dental cleaning (her teeth were in overall great health, and just needed a good polish and clean,) her antibiotic shot given to aid in the healing of her spay and dental, her exam with our vet (which went perfectly,) and as always it also contributes towards the care involved in the time she has been here with us, her grooming costs, and her training ❤️

Story
Bode (pronounced like Bow-Dee) was brought to the shelter almost a month ago and has had quite the transformation! He arrived missing most of his hair with two incredibly infected eyes that were ulcerated and left him blind. The smell coming from his mouth was nauseating and he was clearly in pain. After a much needed dental, flea meds and a bilateral enucleation (both eyeballs removed) Bode is now feeling and looking his best. He even has peach fuzz growing in where he was once bald! We don’t know the circumstances surrounding how a dog in such poor condition was out wandering alone, but we do know he wasn't taken care of properly. Now that he’s doing better and thoroughly enjoying the comforts of a foster home, we are now seeking a forever home. Bode enjoys playing with toys, although occasionally he loses them. He loves his foster dog siblings, even when he bumps into them and they get a bit annoyed. He is NOT a fan of being picked up and would do best in a home without children since he has boundaries he really wishes to be respected. Bode LOVES to snuggle in a warm blanket on the couch, and will paw at you for pets (he can be quite demanding that way!). He does well navigating his foster home with only slight bumps along the way. He’s figured out where the back door is and hasn’t had a single accident in the house since his arrival a few weeks ago. We can see the wheels turning in his head as he learns to navigate life, and this smart cookie is doing an excellent job! With patience, reassurance and a little help we know Bode can be an excellent boy for someone. He’s about 8 years old, about 15lbs and ready to start the next chapter of his life. If interested in adopting Bode please apply here! —> www.easelnj.org/application-dog/ Adoption by appointment only with an approved adoption application. Please go to www.easelnj.org/adopt to submit an adoption application. Someone will be in touch within 48 hours.
