adoption donation : To be determined weight 16 lbs Age: 1 year and 3 years Bert and his brother Ernie are full brothers, but were born two years apart, Bert is the younger of the two, he has a stubby tail and loves to run and play. Ernie has shorter legs and a longer, fuller tail, and he is just a cuddle bug, he really just wants to be on your lap! Bert and Ernie are sweet and loving dogs who really love each other. They cuddle together and chase and play, they would love to stay together. They appear to be some kind of Yorkie terrier mixes, and may have some miniature schnauzer in them as well. They are both 16 pounds Bert and Ernie’s original owners in Mississippi had a house full of small dogs, but recently were evicted from their home and so wag stepped into help, getting the dogs, spayed and neutered and vaccinated, and looking for loving homes. Now it’s Bert and Ernie’s turn! Both boys have had their vaccinations and has been neutered. Both Bert and Ernie are coming up to the northeast on Friday, December 20 ready to find loving families of their own, hopefully for the holidays! Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3 where one woman in rural Mississippi takes care of about 150 homeless and stray dogs. Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter at one of the clinics we use. He's a terrier though, so he can be feisty walking by other dogs on a leash but he's all bark and no bite. He adores his people and would do best in a home with children, another playful small dog and a family who is home often. He does mark inside on occasion but is housetrained most of the time. Fiona, an 11-year-old, 8-pound female Yorkie / chi mix, is sweet as can be. She has adjusted well to city life after leaving the Hempstead shelter. She may be itty bitty but she knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to tell you. She has the raspiest bark that sounds like it should be coming from a dog 10x her size. Despite her teeny frame - she loves to eat and hasn’t met a treat she doesn’t like. Her favorite is a crisp apple but cheese is a close second. She is a diaper girl but loves getting fresh air and exploring the streets of New York. Her leash manners have improved - she only gets tangled in her leash 5x per walk. She was a bit cautious at first but now loves meeting dogs and people. Fiona is a bit blind and is mostly deaf. With her cloudy beady eyes, she always looks slightly confused - but don’t be mistaken - she seems to know where she’s going and moves with purpose! She’s also quite skinny so appreciates a cozy fleece or sweater. She psyches herself up to poop with a couple barks…and once successful, she does a happy dance and shouts from the rooftops after she poops. It makes her foster mom laugh every single time. Fiona had a handful of lumps on her mammary glands and a large tumor removed from her uterus when she was spayed. Thankfully, all were deemed benign! She has a new lease on life and is ready to find her forever home. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, lepto, and bordetella. Spayed, Heartworm negative and microchipped. Recent bloodwork done. Puppy is fostered in Athens TN. Out of state welcomed. Transport may be available to the northeast or grate lakes areas and as listed on adopt a pet the transport fee is included in the adoption fee. We use rescue Ridera because they are the best! They always treat our babies with so much love and care! Meet St Nick! This boy is ready for his furever home. Will that home be yours? He is sweet and playful and loving. He’s approx 8-9 weeks old now and we are accepting adoption applications for him at petpath.org. We think he and his siblings are Chorkie mixes (chihauhua, Yorkie and wire terrier type mixes) and will not be very large. They are about 7 lbs right now and will be small to medium in size. They will bark when they have to poop to go outside so potty training has already begun. They will be neutered and current on vaccines as well as microchipped. She is now adapting to everyday life and is expected to become healthier and happier soon! * Interaction with People: Loves people a lot but initially fears strangers, especially men. Takes time to warm up, but once getting comfortable, she follows around, wags her tail, and likes to be by your side. She gives lots of kisses as a way of saying I love you! * Interaction with Dogs: Shows little interest in other dogs and enjoys spending time alone. Feels uncomfortable with overly aggressive doggy friends! Tends to display her emotion by look to familiar dogs. * Interaction with Cats: Is indifferent to cats and passes by them without much interest. * Separation Anxiety: Has Minimal separation anxiety. Scratches the door when the dog he lives with goes out, but she sleeps and does well alone when the family is out. * Potty Training: Prefers to use indoor potty and is proficient with using pads. Occasionally confuses blankets with her potty spot but is getting training. Does well with outdoor potty during walks. * Hygiene: Cooperates well during baths. Nail trimming can be frightening and cause some fuss, but she stays calm. Is also good with brushing and drying. Feels uncomfortable with scissors on her face. * Walking: Enjoys slow walks, but tends to pull the leash in the direction she wants to go. * Car Sickness: Travels well in the car without any signs of motion sickness. * Is very gentle with no biting, even when touched or petted by strangers. * May bark softly when guests come into the house. * Is afraid of sudden sounds or movements and isn't used to being picked up or put on your lap. * Has allergies and is on an allergy diet. ** Health Status ** - Scaling done, two teeth extracted - Due to periodontitis, her gums have receded, causing instability in her teeth. Meet Bebe!! Bebe was rescued from illegal puppy mill by our Dorothy Rescue. Behaviours from foster home : Bebe is a very loving and affectionate boy who longs to be cherished by his family. While he may be shy at first, given some time, he will bloom like a sunflower! He gets along well with other dogs and is very gentle with them. Although he hasn't had a chance to meet any cat friends yet, his foster mom believes he would also be gentle with them. When meeting strangers, he can be a bit timid initially. He’s not aggressive; he just needs some time to adjust to new family members and environments. Please be patient as he becomes more comfortable with you! :) Although he’s a little apprehensive about bathing, he manages well and enjoys being brushed. He has excellent grooming habits and good walking manners. He is pee-pad trained with an 80% success rate and is making progress! Bebe is not a big barker and is a very calm boy. He may experience a bit of separation anxiety, but he only howls for about 3 to 5 minutes before settling down. While he isn’t a fan of being in a crate, he remains calm when asked to stay there. Though he may be a bit shy at first, Bebe is such a sweet, calm, and affectionate boy who loves to be cuddled by his family. Would you be his loving pawrents who will spoil him with affection? Meet Cotton!! Cotton was rescued from illegal puppy mill by our Dorothy Rescue. Behaviours from foster home : Cotton is a calm and sweet girl who craves love and affection. Currently staying with other dog in her foster home, she gets along well with her, although she may prefer to keep her distance from overly hyper pups. She is comfortable around cats, usually observing them from a distance. Cotton is great with both adults and children, taking her time to approach strangers and greet them quietly. While she tends to be calm, she can also be playful and will sometimes nibble her foster mom's hand when she's excited. Though she’s a bit apprehensive about bathing, she handles it well and enjoys being brushed. Cotton has excellent walking manners and is pee-pad trained. She’s not a big barker, but she might bark happily when excited or to warn other hyper dogs. She doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety and enjoys resting in her kennel, even if she isn’t kennel-trained. Cotton is a gentle, loving girl who truly deserves a forever home.
