Story
Come meet me and 100+ of my adoptable friends at Louie's Legacy Animal Rescue's MEGA adoption event, Home for the Holidays! Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at Immanual Union Church (693 Jewett Ave, Staten Island, NY 10314) from 11am-3pm.
Hello future family, my name is Cooper!
I am a 12 pound, 8-year-old male Chihuahua mix and I have the cutest little overbite you've ever seen. Although a little cautious at first, I am very friendly and have lived with dogs my own size, dogs much bigger than me, cats and young or older children. I will fit perfectly into any family! As far as the big things are concerned, I am both house and crate trained. I know how to sit for sure but lay down and stay will need some work. I stay quietly in my crate while my foster is away or sleeping but, in a perfect world, I would not be in the crate with the door closed when my human is home.
Due to circumstances beyond my control I had to leave the only family I have ever known. While it's been a major adjustment, I have not let it change me. I am still the sweet, loving and playful dog I always was. I am an easy dog to love. It doesn't matter if I am laying by my fosters side, playing with a stuffie, or annoying the resident dog. It's all fun and always filled with love! On the topic of stuffies, I will need a lot because they do not last long if I am left to my own devices. I love to chase them down when my foster throws it but I don't exactly fetch. I'll bring it close to you but actually giving it up is another game we will play. My foster is trying to teach me release but what fun is that?
All I want now is to find my new family so I can shower them with all the affection I have in me. In a short period of time I have become comfortable in my temporary home but I know my forever home is coming soon and I am ready for it. I hope to meet you soon!
Cooper is currently being fostered in Linden, NJ. His adoption fee is $325.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
