We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG:https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=44, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

MEET GRACE!Meet me at the Wag N Wash Adoption Event on Saturday, 3/1 from 11am-2pm!4918 N Adams Rd. Rochester, MI 48306 Hi there! My name is Grace and I'm a 7 year old Yorkshire Terrier. I weigh just 5 pounds and I used to live in a breeder's house where I was used for breeding. Despite my past, I did well living with many other small dogs and really enjoyed their company. I must admit, I can be a little shy at first and it takes some time for me to warm up to new people. However, once I feel comfortable, I am a loving and loyal companion. I am looking for an adult-only and female-only household - men make me nervous and I will bark and growl out of fear. I do well with small dogs (large dogs intimate me) and get along with cats too. I would do well with a dog-sibling to help me adjust properly as I find comfort with other small dogs. Ideally, I would love a home without too much commotion or a fast-paced lifestyle. I require a lot of patience and understanding, so a calm home environment would be perfect for me. A fenced yard is a must-have for me as I am not comfortable on a leash. I've done well using potty pads, especially during this frigid weather. I also need grooming every 6 weeks to keep my coat from getting matted. I will require a patient family willing to continue my training and work with me on leash training as well. Overall, I'm just searching for my forever peraon who will provide me with a calm and loving home. If you think you're the perfect match for me, please consider adopting me and giving me the love and care I deserve. Grace is:Current on age appropriate vaccinations.DewormedReceiving Heartworm and Flea PreventionMicrochippedSpayed and underwent a dental cleaning and extraction. Adoption Fee: $375 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS PET, PLEASE COMPLETE THE APPROPRIATE APPLICATION FOUND ON OUR WEBSITE HTTP://FUREVERTAILS.COM. Unfortunately, at this time we are not currently adopting outside of the state of MI. We process applications ONLY - there is no guarantee that you will get a response to an inquiry. FUREVER TAILS IS A NON-PROFIT, NO-KILL, FOSTER HOME BASED ANIMAL RESCUE BASED OUT OF OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, MI. OUR FOSTER ANIMALS ARE LIVING IN FOSTER HOMES AND TREATED LIKE FAMILY UNTIL THEY FIND THEIR OWN FUREVER FAMILIES. OUR ADOPTION PROECESS REQUIRES AN APPLICATION TO BE COMPLETED AND APPROVED BEFORE A MEET-N-GREET WITH THE ANIMAL CAN TAKE PLACE. ADOPTION FEES ARE NECESSARY TO HELP US COVER VETTING COSTS FOR OUR RESCUED ANIMALS. OUR PRIMARY ADOPTION AREA IS WITHIN THE STATE OF MICHIGAN. ##2128388##

Story
Roxie~born~May 2013Special BreedI’m a diva. THERE! I SAID it!! And I’m proud of it! And I will LET you KNOW it! AND I will NOT STOP NAGGING you until I get what I WANT!! And I MEAN IT!! (My foster mom used to squirt water at me to “bring me out of it”, as she puts it, but now she just shows me the bottle, and I stop.)She squirted WATER at me!! Like I’m a CAT!! There’s a few of those here. I’ve let them know how I feel about THEM! Stupid things. When I got here, boy, I was MAD!!! For a whole WEEK I was mad! So mad that my foster mom gave me my OWN bedroom, with a screen door on it so I could get use to the other critters. Every time she came near me, I’d try to chew off her TOES!! She had to keep a leash on me so she could get me outside. And she had to pick it up QUICKLY, because I’d try to BITE her. But she’s really kind. And I was getting lonely, so I asked her politely if I could come out of my room and have her hold me. And, of course, she said yes (but she was a bit scared). She still kept my leash on me, just in case, but one morning she took a chance and QUICKLY unbuckled it. And I didn’t try to bite her.I’m from Florida. Oh, FLORIDA!! Where it’s ALWAYS warm…and sunny…not like Michigan, where it’s been cold and grey and rainy. I had a great life with my mom in Florida, but she died, so I went to live with her granddaughter here in Michigan. But she couldn’t give me the life she felt I deserved, so she was brave and gave me to PAAW so I could find another home. And I was SO MAD!!!It’s nice here at my foster home. I made some friends (but there’s another girl dog here that I don’t like, so I start fights with her). AND…I have a boyfriend! ooOOoo!! He’s a Yorkie. Like me. I still have my own bedroom . (Sometimes he comes in my bedroom with me, hee hee hee.) My foster mom tried moving my crate and my soft bed (it’s my very own, the one I had when I moved here) out of the bedroom, but I didn’t like it. So she moved me back into the bedroom. When I want to go there, I ask her politely (I can be NICE when I want to), and she lets me in. Sometimes I go in because I’m tired. Sometimes because I want to be alone. And sometimes because I’m in a BAD MOOD. And then I SULK! With my BACK to the DOOR! Sometimes when I’m in a bad mood, she sings my name to me over and over. And it calms me.I’m 10 years old. I don’t know my birthdate. I’ve had babies (cuz I’ve got boobies!).

Story
Winnie is living her best life since our volunteer rescued her from a previous owner who kept her in a crate living in a garage. When she first arrived she was scared from not being socialized and it took her some time to trust and relax. After just a couple weeks she is playful with the other smaller dogs and her personality has come out. She is very sweet and loving and has learned the ropes from the other dogs. She currently uses pee pads in the home. Winnie is now ready to find a family of her own who will give her the life she deserves. Winnie is approximately 1 year old and weighs approximately 8 pounds.

Story
Ember is a 9-year-old Yorkie who has endured a tough life, but her story is finally taking a turn for the better. This little lady is ready to find her forever home where she can be spoiled and loved as she deserves! Why Ember is Amazing: Cuddle Queen: Though timid, once you pick her up, she melts into your arms and relaxes. Toy Curious: She's starting to discover the joy of toys, and we're here for it. Good with Other Dogs: Big or small, she's a friendly girl. Crate & Grooming Pro: Great in a crate, loves baths, and is a groomer's dream! Adventurer in Training: House training is still in progress, but she's improving every day. Ember came to us in rough shape, and her coat had to be shaved due to matting. But it's growing back soft and beautiful, just like her confidence and spirit. A Little More About Ember: She's still learning to trust and needs a patient, loving adopter to help her fully adjust to this new chapter of her life. She's making daily strides, wagging her tail, and even showing excitement for meals! While she's shy about morning pets and cuddles, she's slowly starting to open her heart.
