No apartments.Fence Requirements: Required.Special Info: Dustin came to us from a hoarding situation. He is very undersocialized. While he does get comfortable, follow you around, and do tricks for treats, he is not a fan of being touched except on his own terms. He will need a patient family who is not looking for a dog who wants to cuddle or sit in their laps all the time. He may never be the dog that goes for walks or rides in the car. He just needs a place where he can feel safe.DOG APPLICATION: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26CAT APPLICATION: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41EXOTICS APPLICATION: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=46The information we are providing for this animal was developed based on observations and assessments in a shelter or foster environment. We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay online until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peaks your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application completely. Every question must be answered, and it must be signed.-Applicants must be 21+ years old and live within a 100-mile radius of our shelter at 22415 Groesbeck Hwy, Warren 48089.-You must identify at least 1 animal that you are interested in.-Once your application is received, it will be assigned to one of our volunteer Adoption Counselors who will follow-up with the applicant who is the best fit within a few days, or to discuss other options. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Chewy is a sweet and affectionate dog. He’s potty and kennel trained. Loves to fetch, snuggle, and go out on walks. He grew up with a companion dog (Obi, maltipoo), also on here, but couldn’t make one profile for both dogs. It would be nice to have them go to a loving home together, but having them each go to loving homes would be best.

Story
Meet Mad-Eye Moody Don’t worry—this Mad-Eye might keep a watchful eye on things, but his true specialty is sniffing out life’s simple pleasures. Named after Mad-Eye Moody from the Harry Potter series, this small senior pup has traded constant vigilance for a more relaxed mission: explore, sniff, and snooze.Moody loves a good wander, taking his time to investigate every scent like a seasoned detective. Walks with him are slow, thoughtful adventures where the journey matters far more than the destination. After he’s satisfied his curiosity, he’s happiest settling into a comfy spot for a well-earned rest—preferably somewhere warm and close to his favorite human. He’s calm, gentle, and full of quiet charm. While he may not be chasing dark wizards anymore, he’ll gladly keep you company through peaceful days and cozy evenings.Mad-Eye Moody would do best in a home that appreciates a slower pace and understands that the best companions aren’t the busiest—they’re the ones who make every moment feel a little softer.Constant vigilance… followed by a very good nap.

Story
Petey – 4 Years Old | Shih Tzu MixPetey is a lively, fun-loving 4-year-old Shih Tzu mix who’s ready to bring joy (and a little bit of sass!) into the right home. With his abundant energy and playful spirit, Petey thrives in an active household where he can be part of the action.Petey does great with other small dogs and would love a canine companion to romp around with. While his history with cats is unknown, he may do well with slow, supervised introductions. One thing to know about Petey—he’s got opinions, and he isn’t shy about sharing them! Because of his frequent barking, he’s not suited for apartment living.Petey is not yet potty-trained, so his future family must be committed to starting crate training from square one. Consistency and patience will be key to helping him succeed. For that reason, Petey will do best with a younger, active family ready to invest time in training and structure. In return, Petey promises to be a playful, affectionate companion who will keep you smiling every day. He is up-to-date on all vaccines and preventative care, microchipped, and available as a foster-to-adopt until after his neuter appointment. If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $300
