Story
Ember is a 9-year-old Yorkie who has endured a tough life, but her story is finally taking a turn for the better. This little lady is ready to find her forever home where she can be spoiled and loved as she deserves! Why Ember is Amazing: Cuddle Queen: Though timid, once you pick her up, she melts into your arms and relaxes. Toy Curious: She's starting to discover the joy of toys, and we're here for it. Good with Other Dogs: Big or small, she's a friendly girl. Crate & Grooming Pro: Great in a crate, loves baths, and is a groomer's dream! Adventurer in Training: House training is still in progress, but she's improving every day. Ember came to us in rough shape, and her coat had to be shaved due to matting. But it's growing back soft and beautiful, just like her confidence and spirit. A Little More About Ember: She's still learning to trust and needs a patient, loving adopter to help her fully adjust to this new chapter of her life. She's making daily strides, wagging her tail, and even showing excitement for meals! While she's shy about morning pets and cuddles, she's slowly starting to open her heart.

Story
What a darling, cute little muffin! Chico is estimated to be about 4 years old and weighs 11 pounds. Chico was such a good boy for his photo shoot, he is such a friendly, happy little guy. He loves nothing more than to be with you, prancing about and following you around. He has a cute little snaggle tooth on his bottom lip that will make you smile. What a wonderful friend he is going to make someone with his nice, sweet personality. Chico may prefer a quieter, more predictable type home where any children are older and respectful, due to him being so small. If you are interested in Chico and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Roxie~born~May 2013Special BreedI’m a diva. THERE! I SAID it!! And I’m proud of it! And I will LET you KNOW it! AND I will NOT STOP NAGGING you until I get what I WANT!! And I MEAN IT!! (My foster mom used to squirt water at me to “bring me out of it”, as she puts it, but now she just shows me the bottle, and I stop.)She squirted WATER at me!! Like I’m a CAT!! There’s a few of those here. I’ve let them know how I feel about THEM! Stupid things. When I got here, boy, I was MAD!!! For a whole WEEK I was mad! So mad that my foster mom gave me my OWN bedroom, with a screen door on it so I could get use to the other critters. Every time she came near me, I’d try to chew off her TOES!! She had to keep a leash on me so she could get me outside. And she had to pick it up QUICKLY, because I’d try to BITE her. But she’s really kind. And I was getting lonely, so I asked her politely if I could come out of my room and have her hold me. And, of course, she said yes (but she was a bit scared). She still kept my leash on me, just in case, but one morning she took a chance and QUICKLY unbuckled it. And I didn’t try to bite her.I’m from Florida. Oh, FLORIDA!! Where it’s ALWAYS warm…and sunny…not like Michigan, where it’s been cold and grey and rainy. I had a great life with my mom in Florida, but she died, so I went to live with her granddaughter here in Michigan. But she couldn’t give me the life she felt I deserved, so she was brave and gave me to PAAW so I could find another home. And I was SO MAD!!!It’s nice here at my foster home. I made some friends (but there’s another girl dog here that I don’t like, so I start fights with her). AND…I have a boyfriend! ooOOoo!! He’s a Yorkie. Like me. I still have my own bedroom . (Sometimes he comes in my bedroom with me, hee hee hee.) My foster mom tried moving my crate and my soft bed (it’s my very own, the one I had when I moved here) out of the bedroom, but I didn’t like it. So she moved me back into the bedroom. When I want to go there, I ask her politely (I can be NICE when I want to), and she lets me in. Sometimes I go in because I’m tired. Sometimes because I want to be alone. And sometimes because I’m in a BAD MOOD. And then I SULK! With my BACK to the DOOR! Sometimes when I’m in a bad mood, she sings my name to me over and over. And it calms me.I’m 10 years old. I don’t know my birthdate. I’ve had babies (cuz I’ve got boobies!).

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Jack is a Yorkie mix, but bigger than a full breed, being around 13 lbs. He is a playful  young boy with a sweet temperament. Jack loves pets and will definitely attach to his humans. In his foster home he gets along with all the other dogs, males and females. His favorite canine is the small, pretty female Shih Tzu. She has his whole heart.  Jack will be microchipped, vaccinated and neutered in a couple of weeks and ready for his forever home. The new owner will need to provide training to teach Jack  to walk on a leash without pulling.     Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $45.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.    Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 30, 2024, 4:24 pm

Story
Puppy is fostered in Athens TN. Out of state welcomed. Transport may be available to the northeast or grate lakes areas and as listed on adopt a pet the transport fee is included in the adoption fee. We use rescue Ridera because they are the best! They always treat our babies with so much love and care! Meet Grinch! This boy is ready for his furever home. Will that home be yours? He is sweet and playful and loving. He’s approx 8-9 weeks old now and we are accepting adoption applications for him at petpath.org. We think he and his siblings are Chorkie mixes (chihauhua, Yorkie and wire terrier type mixes) and will not be very large. They are about 7 lbs right now and will be small to medium in size. They will bark when they have to poop to go outside so potty training has already begun. They will be neutered and current on vaccines as well as microchipped. Please share them in hopes of finding their families. Apply to adopt at petpath.org
