Story
Meet Cashew! Cashew, a 4-year-old Yorkie mix, is a high-energy pup who frequently comes to us as a stray. Since he was found on the streets, we don`t know much about his background. However, we`ve noticed he`ll need training to curb his nipping and improve his manners. Despite this, his playful personality and boundless energy would be a great fit for an active family. If you`re interested in meeting Cashew, please call us at 410-827-7178.

Story
Taz is a very sweet and lovable dog. He’s energetic and loves hugs and attention. Taz would cuddle 24-7 if it were up to him. Taz does have some issues with toileting. He does not bark to go outside to relieve himself. He may pace a little bit and if he doesn’t get to go outside he will relieve himself in the house. Taz likes to roam. He will not do well being confined in a kennel. He is accustomed to sitting on furniture and sometimes sleeps at the bottom of the bed. Taz prefers brown rice, baked/steamed sweet potatoes, green vegetables, chicken etc for his meals. He really does not do well with canned and dry dog food. Great with children and other pets. A wonderful addition to any family.

Story
Meet Greta Meet Greta, one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. Greta is about ten years and a bit less than 10 pounds. She is housebroken and loves nothing more than to hang with her person, take walks, search for squirrels (I mean, which dog doesn't) and cuddle. Looking for a quiet home with someone who loves cuddles, walks and a loving little companion. Greta was found running down a road in Texas near a vet office and given refuge. It was quickly discovered that Greta had two very painful patellas (knees) and required surgery. That was performed, the left leg is now fine, the right leg in spite of repeated surgeries just could never be right-it is as good as it is going to be-she loves to run, walk, jump etc, she really doesn't use it but is the happiest dog in spite of it. Happy to discuss further with an adopter looking for a happy lapdog that loves to cuddle with their person. PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us. The adoption fee is $200, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. All of our dogs will be microchipped. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Calling or emailing may delay your consideration. Find our application on our website, almosthomedogs.org, then click on "Adopt" tab at top We are a non profit no kill 501 (c)3 rescue. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Currently check, cash or venmo is preferred payment

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from KOP, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Linus! Linus is a 14-year-old, 7 lb., Yorkie mix who was surrendered to a shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. Alone and toothless, he was in need of a fresh start. Linus was treated for fleas and had senior bloodwork testing. He has suspected kidney issues, and eats Royal Canin Renal Support food to keep them in check. He requires no medication at the moment, but that could change in the future. Linus has no teeth and a recessed lower jaw, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying mealtimes. He has good vision but is most likely deaf. Linus can use pee pads, sleeps fine through the night, and does well frequently going outside. Like any senior though, he will have the occasional accident. Linus is comfortable being crated when his foster mom is out. He will bark for a minute or two, but settles in quickly. Linus can handle a few stairs and walks well on a leash. He gets along great with other dogs and would love to have some low-energy friends to hang out with. Linus also does well with kids. His ideal home would have people around all the time. Linus loves getting attention. If you need a cuddle buddy, he will be the first in line. Linus really enjoys going on walks, soaking up sunshine, and treats. He wants to be wherever you are, including your bed. Happy to give out kisses and make sure you are never alone, Linus is an amazing pup in need of a home. Can it please be yours? Apply today!
