Story
Meet Briley! She is a 1 year old big yorkie or wirehaired terrier mix. She is almost full grown and weighs about 16 pounds. She is 9 and a half months old. She is an ACTIVE girl and she needs a doggy playmate and an active home! Briley is good with other dogs and with kids, but not with cats. She has a high prey drive and will chase cats, rabbits, squirrels.... She also needs a fenced in yard or she is off like a shot! She is house trained and crate trained. She can be naughty with chewing her toys and bedding up. Briley came to us on death's door back in January 2023 and needed lots of emergency medical care and a blood transfusion to save her life. She does not have any lingering medical concerns and we are not sure what had happened to her or what she had eaten prior to us us coming to us. Her adoption fee is a little higher because of that. If you are interested in adopting Briley, please fill out an application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FAY-A-7422 **Applications can take anywhere from 5-7 business days to complete. When filling out an application, please check for a confirmation email to be sure that your application went through. We respond by email, so please check your spam and trash folders. If you need to reach us regarding your application, the best way to contact us is through email.** We are located in Fayette County, GA and are a foster based rescue without a shelter building.

Story
Please say hello to Chip!!🧡 We don't know much about Chip other than he's an elderly man. He's had multiple homes before he came to us😥. Chip needed a full work up when he came to us to make sure he was healthy. We did bloodwork and the necessary vaccines he needed by law and for his age. Chip🧡 is heartworm negative, and his bloodwork🩸 looked great. We have since started him on flea tick and heartworm prevention. When he came to us, he was completely matted, he's since had a full body makeover😄. Chip really needs a dental with the possibility of a full mouth extraction, but we've decided that due to his age it would be too risky to put him under anesthesia. He's eating dry food well, but we add a little water to it to soften it up and he devours it. Chip needs someone who will be patient with him. We believe he's lost some of his hearing and he can still see but we believe some things are a little blurry. Chip also would need someone who would be able to get him outside on a consistent schedule. We believe he was pee pad trained but since having him he has grasped the concept of going in the yard, but he needs to go out pretty often. Chip is a gentle old soul, and he just needs someone that will give him a warm comfortable place to live out his remaining few years of life. If you think Chip is the dog for you submit an application.

Story
Yes I was a holy mess, but at one time I must have been beautiful, because once I was groomed I look like a princess. I had a micro-chip, but whoever owned me let me get like this, or I was out on my own for some time. The mats were so tight all over I could hardly walk. In addition to being a holy mess, I had tumors the size of golf balls and baseballs on my body. My rescue family took care of all my medical issues and now I'm ready for my forever home. I'm so affectionate, and active. I'd love a family with older children (over 12) because I'm only about 8-10lbs. I must have a fenced yard...NON NEGOTIABLE. It doesn't have to be acreage, but large enough so I can romp around a bit. I've, also, got a strong personality. Either another strong personality pup or I'd be fine as an only pup. The shelter had my age as 11, but I act like I'm 7 or 8. If your looking for a sweet Yorkie, I'm your girl!

Story
LOOKING FOR MY PERSON:  Approx. 13 years old / Approx. 13 lbs.  Hi, my name is Bessie!  I lived with my family my entire life, but their living situation changed, and they are relocating to a home where pets are not allowed.  That makes me sad, but I am so grateful that Mostly Mutts will work to help me find a new home.  I am in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I did not like the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts, so no dogs please. I tolerated a dog in one temp. foster home, but another temp. foster said I barked at dogs that entered the same room as me as well as those I passed on my walks, so I do not want to live with them. / My former family reported that I did not like cats and Mostly Mutts agrees. / I excitedly went after ankles of kids I met in a foster home and since I have bitten, best no kids.     • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a playful girl who likes toys and sometimes acts younger than my age.  I’m called a spry girl and had a blast playing with the volunteer photographer!  I’m a sweet girl who accepts affection most of the time, though I have guarding behaviors when it comes to things like my bed, treats and people.  Once I find my person, I don’t really want to share them too much. This can be a trainable situation and my trainer will be happy to talk to you.  I can be a bit temperamental and once bit my former foster mom, though I did have a urinary tract infection, so that may have had a bit to do with it. My former owner did not report any bites.  My foster said I like new people to go slow as I get to know them so, please be patient with me as I adjust to my new home and any new people I meet.  It just took a few days for me to feel comfortable with a temp. foster when my regular foster was away.  She even called me a ‘real love bug.’  I think I would do best in a home with a small circle of regular people and not too many people coming and going.  Once I am settled, I am sure to show you how sweet I can be!  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I have already learned the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also walk well on a leash.  My trainer at the shelter is great with the little dogs with big personalities, so ask to talk to her when setting up a meeting with me.  My former family reported that I also knew the word ‘no’ and ‘good job’ for praising me. In my former foster home, I knew the words ‘outside’ for going out, and ‘up’, for going up stairs and that I could ‘sit’ when I choose to – lol. / My crate manners were good at Mostly Mutts.  My foster says I go in and out of my open crate to rest or clean myself, but get a bit stressed if I have to be crated during the day.  Usually I am allowed to have free reign of my foster home when she goes to work and I do great with that.  I sleep in bed with my foster and really like that.  There was one report of biting a former foster while asleep / just waking up, just so you know.  I can sleep in my crate if that is better for you.  / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, and in my foster home.   • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for walks and playing fetch.  It was fun playing in the fall leaves too. I enjoy having my cheeks and the top of my head rubbed as well as cuddles and scratches on my back.  Playing with toys is also fun and I enjoy hanging out with my person.  I love treats just as much as toys and playtime.  I do seem to prefer women to men. / I don’t like to be picked up, so let me come to you, please.  I’m also not a fan of having my paws, tummy or rear end rubbed.  I don’t care for some men or people going too fast as I get to know them.  I don’t like dogs coming too close and alert bark at animals I see outside.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, training, and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have a congenital dropped carpus on both front legs and luxating patella on the left, but my foster didn’t even notice as I can jump and don’t have pain.  I am taking a fish oil supplement and Benadryl daily to help alleviate some bouts with dry, itchy skin.  I also have a mild heart murmur that does not require any treatment currently. I’m on an inexpensive over-the-counter joint supplement which is good for all older dogs.   I am looking for a loving home for life with a dog experienced person! My adoption fee is $299.00, & I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  November 7, 2024, 4:18 pm
