Story
This adorable little guy is Max. His family lost there home and Max cam to the shelter on 12/2. Max is 10 years young and weighs in at 7 pounds. He knows to sit when asked. He could really use a spa day and some cuddles to be feeling as good as new. Wouldn't you like to wake up to that little smile every morning? Ask for ID# 6609 Run 205. He is neutered. He will be micro-chipped upon adoption. He has tested negative for heart worm. Note - all the listings on Friends of Shelter Animals for Cobb are done by volunteers. If this cat or dog came in as a lost animal, we do not know how they might be with children, other pets, or if house trained. You can bring your pet to the shelter for a meet & greet with your potential new best friend. When inquiring about a cat or dog, please use THE ID NUMBER. Story
My fiance got Oreo a few years ago from someone selling dogs in Atlanta. Oreo is now 5 years old, and I looking for a new home where he can get the time, attention, and care he deserves. With a baby on the way, it's been challenging to focus on Oreo's obedience struggles. My fiance and I have differing views on discipline, and I truly want Oreo to be in a loving home where he can thrive and reach his full potential as the amazing dog I know he is. Oreo is energetic, smart, loyal, and incredibly loving. He is great with other pets; cats and dogs, and he absolutely adores children. While he does need training and someone patient to work with him, he is also a sweet and lovable companion who just wants to be part of a caring family. My hope is to find him a home where he will not only be trained but also deeply loved and appreciated. He's my best bud and I'm really sad to give him up, but I want him to be appreciated and loved in the best way.

Story
Yes I was a holy mess, but at one time I must have been beautiful, because once I was groomed I look like a princess. I had a micro-chip, but whoever owned me let me get like this, or I was out on my own for some time. The mats were so tight all over I could hardly walk. In addition to being a holy mess, I had tumors the size of golf balls and baseballs on my body. My rescue family took care of all my medical issues and now I'm ready for my forever home. I'm so affectionate, and active. I'd love a family with older children (over 12) because I'm only about 8-10lbs. I must have a fenced yard...NON NEGOTIABLE. It doesn't have to be acreage, but large enough so I can romp around a bit. I've got a strong personality so I would be best as an only dog. I've not had any problems at rescue, but during some trials I've behaved like a bully. The shelter had my age as 11, but I act like I'm 7 or 8. If your looking for a sweet Yorkie, I'm your girl!

Story
Atlanta, GA INTRODUCING REMINGTON We know, we know. We did say that we were done for the year due to the need for building up donations and simply put, we are very hesitant to adopt out dogs during the holiday season. We want to ensure that our dogs are adopted out as a lifetime commitment and never as holiday “presents”. But sometimes we find ourselves in extenuating circumstances - like with Remington. You see, Remington (Remi for short) was in need of being rehomed after his Grandma was diagnosed with cancer and dementia. His mom became a full time caretaker and just couldn’t keep up anymore - so we decided to step in. Remi is a 1 year old male blonde Yorkshire terrier (potentially mixed - Embark DNA test is pending) who is dog friendly, cat friendly and child friendly. If you’re looking for a snuggly lap dog and a 24/7 Velcro dog who doesn’t want to leave your side but is always up for an adventure - Remi might just be your guy! Remi has been vetted (excluding boosters upcoming in January), neutered, has had a dental cleaning and is microchipped. Yorkshire terriers are a high maintenance breed that require daily grooming. Additionally, adopters should be prepared for daily dental brushing and regular professional dental cleanings. Remi's current weight is 8 lbs. He is house trained and crate trained, however due to how tiny he is he can only hold his bladder for about 5 hours excluding overnight while he's sleeping. Remington is not trained to use potty pads. Again, we want to ensure applicants understand that Remi is NOT a Christmas present. He will live (God willing) another 15-20+ years with proper care and nutrition. If you are interested, please submit an application on our website: https://themadduxmovement.godaddysites.com/adoption-application **Adoption Fees are listed on our Available Dogs page on our website** ____________________________________________ The Maddux Movement is a non-profit foster based rescue located in Atlanta, GA. Our mission is to rescue and rehome animals that are in abusive, neglectful or endangering situations, which includes traditional or open admission shelters, strays, owner surrenders and puppy mills. Adoptions are not based on a first come first serve basis. The individual(s) selected will be chosen by what is best for each animal. Although our rescue is breed focused, we are not a breed restrictive rescue. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (including leptospirosis and canine influenza). Additionally, each adopted dog will be sent home with a personalized adoption kit, a copy of The Forever Dog Life by Rodney Habib and Dr. Karen Becker and a complimentary dog blanket.

Story
LOOKING FOR MY PERSON:  Approx. 13 years old / Approx. 13 lbs.  Hi, my name is Bessie!  I lived with my family my entire life, but their living situation changed, and they are relocating to a home where pets are not allowed.  That makes me sad, but I am so grateful that Mostly Mutts will work to help me find a new home.  I am in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I did not like the dogs I met at Mostly Mutts, so no dogs please. I tolerated a dog in one temp. foster home, but another temp. foster said I barked at dogs that entered the same room as me as well as those I passed on my walks, so I do not want to live with them. / My former family reported that I did not like cats and Mostly Mutts agrees. / I excitedly went after ankles of kids I met in a foster home and since I have bitten, best no kids.     • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a playful girl who likes toys and sometimes acts younger than my age.  I’m called a spry girl and had a blast playing with the volunteer photographer!  I’m a sweet girl who accepts affection most of the time, though I have guarding behaviors when it comes to things like my bed, treats and people.  Once I find my person, I don’t really want to share them too much. This can be a trainable situation and my trainer will be happy to talk to you.  I can be a bit temperamental and once bit my former foster mom, though I did have a urinary tract infection, so that may have had a bit to do with it. My former owner did not report any bites.  My foster said I like new people to go slow as I get to know them so, please be patient with me as I adjust to my new home and any new people I meet.  It just took a few days for me to feel comfortable with a temp. foster when my regular foster was away.  She even called me a ‘real love bug.’  I think I would do best in a home with a small circle of regular people and not too many people coming and going.  Once I am settled, I am sure to show you how sweet I can be!  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I have already learned the ‘sit’, ‘come’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also walk well on a leash.  My trainer at the shelter is great with the little dogs with big personalities, so ask to talk to her when setting up a meeting with me.  My former family reported that I also knew the word ‘no’ and ‘good job’ for praising me. In my former foster home, I knew the words ‘outside’ for going out, and ‘up’, for going up stairs and that I could ‘sit’ when I choose to – lol. / My crate manners were good at Mostly Mutts.  My foster says I go in and out of my open crate to rest or clean myself, but get a bit stressed if I have to be crated during the day.  Usually I am allowed to have free reign of my foster home when she goes to work and I do great with that.  I sleep in bed with my foster and really like that.  There was one report of biting a former foster while asleep / just waking up, just so you know.  I can sleep in my crate if that is better for you.  / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, and in my foster home.   • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love going for walks and playing fetch.  It was fun playing in the fall leaves too. I enjoy having my cheeks and the top of my head rubbed as well as cuddles and scratches on my back.  Playing with toys is also fun and I enjoy hanging out with my person.  I love treats just as much as toys and playtime.  I do seem to prefer women to men. / I don’t like to be picked up, so let me come to you, please.  I’m also not a fan of having my paws, tummy or rear end rubbed.  I don’t care for some men or people going too fast as I get to know them.  I don’t like dogs coming too close and alert bark at animals I see outside.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, training, and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have a congenital dropped carpus on both front legs and luxating patella on the left, but my foster didn’t even notice as I can jump and don’t have pain.  I am taking a fish oil supplement and Benadryl daily to help alleviate some bouts with dry, itchy skin.  I also have a mild heart murmur that does not require any treatment currently. I’m on an inexpensive over-the-counter joint supplement which is good for all older dogs.   I am looking for a loving home for life with a dog experienced person! My adoption fee is $299.00, & I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  November 7, 2024, 4:18 pm
