Story
**ALL ADOPTIONS INCLUDE A HOME VISIT. YOU MUST LIVE IN BROWARD & PALM BEACH COUNTIES** Pimento, Yorkie & Shih Tzu Mix · 1 Year Old · 11 lbs · He / Him There are dogs that take their time warming up to you, and then there is Pimento, who bypasses the whole introduction entirely and simply rolls over for a belly rub. It happens fast, it is completely disarming, and it tells you everything you need to know about this little guy. At just one year old, he carries that perfect mix of shy sweetness and playful curiosity that only a young dog can pull off, the kind that makes you laugh and then immediately reach for your phone to take a photo. Pimento is small-framed and sturdy at eleven pounds, just the right size to tuck under your arm, nestle into your lap, or settle in the seat beside you on a car ride, which he handles like a seasoned traveler. His coat is a soft, warm red with a blond mini mohawk that gives him a look entirely his own. He is the kind of dog people stop to ask about. He adores other small dogs and greets them the way only a genuinely friendly dog can, tail wagging, eyes bright, and flashing that unmistakable little-teeth grin that signals he means only the best. He is actively learning to walk on a leash and settling into his foster home routine with real steadiness, showing every day that this is a boy who is ready to grow into the life waiting for him. He rolls over for belly rubs before you've even asked. That's not a trick, that's just who Pimento is. Pimento is a healthy, happy boy with no shortage of personality packed into a very small frame. If you have loved a dog before, if you know the particular joy of a small, fluffy companion who travels well, plays gently, and snuggles deeply, then you already know exactly what Pimento is offering. He just needs someone ready to say yes. A note on his coat: Pimento's soft, wavy coat is hypoallergenic and may grow longer and more luxurious over time, a wonderful bonus for families who love a well-groomed companion. This dog's adoption fee is $600 to cover their vetting (vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm/Ehrlichia/Lyme test, fecal test, pre-op blood work, dental cleaning, and microchip, as well as grooming if needed). If you are interested, please fill out the adoption application. For additional information regarding our adoption process, please check our FAQ's Page.   *All dogs in the care of Get a Life Pet Rescue live in loving foster homes while waiting for their perfect match. Story
**ALL ADOPTIONS INCLUDE A HOME VISIT. YOU MUST LIVE IN BROWARD & PALM BEACH COUNTIES** Open your heart to a 1.5-year-old, Zyrella. Look closely at any photo of Zyrella, and you will notice it right away, that tiny underbite, that perpetual little smile that seems to say she has already made up her mind that life is good! She is nine pounds of hypoallergenic sweetness, a Yorkie Shih Tzu mix with a playful, bright personality and a gift for making the people around her feel genuinely adored. On a walk, Zyrella moves with purpose and joy. She investigates every interesting scent along the way, nose to the ground, tail up, completely in her element, and then she glances up at you with that sparkling look that says she just needed to make sure you were still right there. She is the kind of dog who keeps you close because she wants to, not because she has to. At home, she thrives when her person is around often, or better yet, brings her along for the adventure. Zyrella came to us alongside her siblings, Pimento and Azmira, rescued together from a backyard situation and given a second chance at the life they always deserved. The three of them remain each other's play buddies, though they do not need to be adopted together. Zyrella is perfectly happy to share her home with another small, compatible dog and would welcome a gentle canine companion. She gives gentle kisses with that little underbite smile, and once she decides you are hers, there is no going back, in the very best way. Zyrella came to us with heartworm disease, contracted from a single mosquito bite, something that can happen to any dog, and says nothing about who she is or the wonderful life ahead of her. She is otherwise completely healthy, and she is well into her treatment under the American Heartworm Society Protocol, one of the most trusted and effective approaches available. She is being cared for every step of the way, and we will cover all costs of her treatment and spaying. What we need is a dedicated adopter who can bring her to our vet in Broward County for her scheduled appointments. End of May 2025: Two months of pre-injection treatment complete. Zyrella becomes available for adoption. June 2025: First injection at our vet in Broward County. Adopter brings Zyrella in. July 2025: Final two injections at our vet in Broward County. Treatment complete. August 2025: Spay procedure at our vet in Broward County. Her heartworm treatment and spay costs will be covered by the rescue.  Zyrella's story is one of resilience and readiness. She has been through more than she should have for a dog so young, and she has come out the other side still smiling, still curious, still offering her gentle little kisses to anyone who reaches down to say hello. She deserves a family who sees her fully, who will show up for her appointments with the same dedication she brings to every single day, and who will give her the settled, loving home she has been waiting for. This dog's adoption fee is $600 to go towards their vetting (vaccines, spay/neuter, heartworm/Ehrlichia/Lyme test, fecal test, pre-op blood work, dental cleaning, and microchip as well as grooming if needed). Story
**WE ONLY DO HOME VISITS FOR ADOPTIONS IN BROWARD & PALM BEACH COUNTIES** PLEASE READ HIS FULL BIO BEFORE APPLYING TO ADOPT Meet the charming Harrison, a happy 6 year-old, 7-pound bundle of love with a spirit that knows no bounds! Harrison's story is one of resilience and hope. Rescued by the compassionate folks at Get A Life, he's a special little dude looking for a kind and understanding human who can cater to his unique needs. Despite facing challenges, he remains a charmer with an irresistible personality. Harrison may identify as able-bodied, but his little back legs don't function as they should. However, he doesn't let that slow him down! With the help of his custom wheels, he enjoys his own transport and savors the joy of speeding around, feeling the humid breeze ruffling his silky hair. He is truly a master at living life to the fullest and has an endless supply of love and affection to offer his future human. This happy boy's journey hasn't been easy. After narrowly escaping a dire fate at a kill facility, he found safety and love in the arms of his rescuers. Harrison's lower lumbar paralysis necessitates manual bladder expression multiple times a day, but he handles it with grace and unwavering spirit. His bowel movement releases on its own, or with some assistance. When you understand his schedule he will have few accidents. He may have special needs, but he doesn't let them define him; he happily plays fetch and finds joy in every moment. Harrison's previous people did provide him with spinal surgery, but they neglected to offer the necessary rehabilitation. Thankfully, since then, he's received a range of therapies, including acupuncture, laser therapy, physical therapy, and aqua therapy. The dedicated specialists have trained his caregivers on continuing his therapy at home. Harrison shows signs of feeling in his paws and responds positively to the treatments, occasionally displaying strength to push up, even if he cannot stand. There's hope that with continued home therapy, he may even regain the ability to walk. While he is not currently seeing a specialist, he remains in loving hands that understand and cater to his unique needs. This absolutely adorable little guy may have wheels to zoom around the house and a heartwarming ability to win the hearts of everyone he meets. We're seeking a forever home for Harrison, where his monthly grooming, heartworm prevention, and daily health care and maintenance can be attended to. His adoption fee of $200 contributes towards his vetting, therapy, and rehabilitation. If you feel you can offer Harrison the love, care, and understanding he deserves, he'll repay you with endless kisses and a fantastic personality that will brighten your days. Embrace this remarkable spirit, and together, let's embark on a journey of love, joy, and the fulfillment of Harrison's potential. Check his VIDEO PLAYLIST . Please Like & Follow his FaceBook Page. If you are interested please fill out the adoption application For additional information regarding our adoption process, please check our FAQ's Page. WWW.GETALIFEPETRESCUE.COM  MORE INFO ON HARRISON: Harrison has a wonderful personality and is energetic despite his paralysis. Harrison is a joy but may seem like a lot of work, until you get used to his routine, he is not a burden. You need time, love, and patience. He needs his bladder expressed every 4-6 hours in the day but NOT AT NIGHT. YouTube videos on how to release his bladder Here is one technique https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8kuOD2Iup4 We put him on the lawn or over a pee pad and bend over him standing. You need to keep your feet away from his stream if urine. Inevitably you will get wet from time to time.  Once you have your fingertips on each side of the bladder it will feel like a water balloon. Then press your fingers together until the urine is released. Then go back and reposition your fingers 3-4 times to find smaller balloons until the bladder is completely empty. He poops on his own, you will find poop in his bed or when he is excited he will release it. He is on supplements to help promote stimulation.  Harrison can't be crated or penned up because he will stress and he needs to scoot around without bruising his belly and legs. He loves his orthopedic bed with his toys on it. When you are home and he is active, he can be in his wheels but once he settles he needs to be in his drag bag that enables him to scoot around to follow you and then relax while you are doing household tasks. The dragbag protects his legs from getting scratched but it is not padded to protect him from bruising. He needs a calm groomer that will never leave him on the table because he will try to jump off.. He is fun and loves to meet people. If you have the time and finances to care for him long-term please give let me know.  We do home visits near Broward & Palm Beach Counties. In order to do an adoption and he will need several visits for you to get used to his needs. Harrison needs a couple of days of training and we would like to have his potential adopter care for him for a day to see if they are really dedicated to him. *All dogs in the care of Get a Life Pet Rescue live in loving foster homes while waiting for their perfect match. Story
**ALL ADOPTIONS INCLUDE A HOME VISIT. YOU MUST LIVE IN BROWARD & PALM BEACH COUNTIES** Azmira Morkie is looking for her devoted home. She will be Available late May, once her puppies are weaned. The moment you walk toward her, Azmira rolls right over for a belly rub, and honestly, that is the whole story in one sweet gesture. She is a year-and-a-half-old Maltese Yorkie with eleven pounds of silky, hypoallergenic softness, a heart full of trust, and an endless appetite for the company of the people she loves. She is the kind of dog who reminds you why you fell in love with dogs in the first place. Azmira knows what she wants and is wonderfully clear about it. When it is time to go outside, she will give you a firm, polite bark to let you know, and she is perfectly happy to use a pee pad on a rainy day without any fuss. On a sunny afternoon, give her a yard and watch her go, running happy laps with her ears flying and her whole body full of joy. She comes back in ready to curl up right beside you, warm and content, very much a part of whatever you have going on. She is bright and curious, soaking up new words and sounds with wide, eager eyes. Azmira loves being included, loves being near her person, and loves the simple rhythm of a loving home. She will grow and learn beautifully alongside someone who enjoys that journey, with a small dog who pays close attention to everything. Azmira opens her whole heart right away, and she has so much of it to give. Azmira would be happiest with an experienced dog owner who genuinely loves spending time with their dog. She thrives on interaction, warmth, and the comfort of routine. If you are someone who wants a devoted little companion who is always happy to see you, always ready to snuggle in, and always curious about what comes next, she is ready to be exactly that for you.   A little note on timing: Azmira is currently a dedicated mama to her puppies and will be ready to begin her own next chapter toward the end of May, once her babies are fully weaned and thriving.
