Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Dino is a sweet little Yorkie mix who is all about love, loyalty and being right by your side. At 6 years old and 13 lbs, he’s the perfect size, big enough to join you on adventures but just as happy curling up next to you for hours. He’s a calm, easygoing guy who truly thrives on companionship. He is fully house trained and does best with a consistent routine. Dino sleeps peacefully through the night in bed with his humans and rides well in the car. During the day, he’s happiest lounging nearby, always keeping you in sight. He is not overly vocal and has a gentle, calm presence. He will bark if someone comes to the door, or if he hears a loud noise from the street. Dino loves his walks and gets so excited when he sees the harness come out, he will grab the harness and play with it from the excitement. He is not the type dog to stop and sniff the smells, he just enjoys walking, doing his business, and moving on - definitely a good dog to have if you are trying to get your steps in! He has medium energy level and is more of a companion than a high energy play dog. He gets along well with small and medium dogs and has been around a kitten in his foster home, which he mostly ignores. He hasn’t been around large dogs or young kids yet, but his gentle nature suggests he could do well with proper introductions. He is wonderful with adults and has a very easy, loving personality. He’s not very interested in toys or rough play. He’s much more of a hang out with my person kind of dog, and will truly be your little shadow. He does not interact much with another dog in the home, but we believe another dog will help give him comfort when his people are out, because he does have a little separation anxiety. We are preferring someone for him who is home more often than not during the day. Dino is not a fan of the crate but does not need to be crated and has shown no destructive behavior when left alone. Dino came to our rescue as an owner surrender. He had been suffering with bladder stones for a couple years, without treatment. When it came time that emergency surgery was needed, they could not afford the surgery so they asked the vet to euthanize him. We got the phone call from the vet and decided to take him under Lil Rascals. During surgery, the stones were removed from his bladder, but he has one stone that embedded in his urethra wall, and could not be removed. It is causing no blockage or pain. It may stay in there forever without any issues. He will need to remain on a prescription urinary diet his entire life to help prevent bladder stone recurrence, along with a urinalysis every 3-6 months, and X-rays and labwork annually. With proper care, he can live a happy, normal life. As a Yorkie mix, he will require regular grooming to keep his coat looking its best. Dino greets his people with lots of excitement and a little jumping, it’s all love. With some basic training and consistency, he’ll continue to thrive. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will follow you from room to room and happily lay by your side, Dino is your guy.
