Story
Meet Starboy — At 14 years young, this sweet Yorkie has perfected the art of companionship. He’s happiest right by your side, whether you’re relaxing at home, strolling through the neighborhood, or exploring the sights and smells of the dog park together. Starboy may be a senior, but he still enjoys life’s simple adventures. Walks are one of his favorite things, especially when he can take his time soaking everything in. And when the outing is over? A tasty snack and a cozy spot near his favorite person make for the perfect ending to his day. This quiet, loving boy isn’t asking for much — just a soft place to land and someone to share his golden years with. In return, Starboy will give you loyal companionship, gentle affection, and the kind of love only a sweet senior dog can offer. PLEASE NOTE: All your current pets must be spayed/neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention to adopt from Polka Dogz. We only adopt in Florida. All adoption fees go to help all the dogs in the rescue, some of which require extensive medical care. Thank you for caring for the greater good. Adoption fee is $350 and you can adopt me at www.polkadogz.org. ##2730141##

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Dino is a sweet little Yorkie mix who is all about love, loyalty and being right by your side. At 6 years old and 13 lbs, he’s the perfect size, big enough to join you on adventures but just as happy curling up next to you for hours. He’s a calm, easygoing guy who truly thrives on companionship. He is fully house trained and does best with a consistent routine. Dino sleeps peacefully through the night in bed with his humans and rides well in the car. During the day, he’s happiest lounging nearby, always keeping you in sight. He is not overly vocal and has a gentle, calm presence. He will bark if someone comes to the door, or if he hears a loud noise from the street. Dino loves his walks and gets so excited when he sees the harness come out, he will grab the harness and play with it from the excitement. He is not the type dog to stop and sniff the smells, he just enjoys walking, doing his business, and moving on  - definitely a good dog to have if you are trying to get your steps in! He has medium energy level and is more of a companion than a high energy play dog. He gets along well with small and medium dogs and has been around a kitten in his foster home, which he mostly ignores. He hasn’t been around large dogs or young kids yet, but his gentle nature suggests he could do well with proper introductions. He is wonderful with adults and has a very easy, loving personality. Dino has just shown an interest in playing with and fetching a tennis ball, as you can see in his video. He’s such a "hang out with my person" kind of dog, and will truly be your little shadow. He does not interact much with another dog in the home, but we believe another dog will help give him comfort when his people are out, because he does have a little separation anxiety. We are preferring someone for him who is home more often than not during the day. Dino is not a fan of the crate but does not need to be crated and has shown no destructive behavior when left alone.  Dino came to our rescue as an owner surrender. He had been suffering with bladder stones for a couple years, without treatment. When it came time that emergency surgery was needed, they could not afford the surgery so they asked the vet to euthanize him. We got the phone call from the vet and decided to take him under Lil Rascals. During surgery, the stones were removed from his bladder, but he has one stone that embedded in his urethra wall, and could not be removed. It is causing no blockage or pain. It may stay in there forever without any issues. He will need to remain on a prescription urinary diet his entire life to help prevent bladder stone recurrence, along with a urinalysis every 3-6 months, and X-rays and labwork annually. With proper care, he can live a happy, normal life. As a Yorkie mix, he will require regular grooming to keep his coat looking its best. Dino greets his people with lots of excitement and a little jumping, it’s all love. With some basic training and consistency, he’ll continue to thrive. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will follow you from room to room and happily lay by your side, Dino is your guy. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Dino, complete an app and tell us more about you.  May 17, 2026, 10:31 pm

Story
My dog is a wonderful dog, I’ve had her for 12 years unfortunately I can no longer keep up. She deserves a loving home. She does have arthritis her back legs, does use her stairs to get on the couch/bed and a hernia on her stomach, which does not need operation. She is caught up with all of her vaccines, neutered. She’ll be very much missed, but I feel like I’m doing her a disservice service by keeping her as it is expensive and I am working more hours and she’s not getting the love and attention she deserves. This is a very challenging decision for me, but I need to put her first.

Story
Saint is such an amazing pup. He’s so sweet and listens very well. He did chase a cat out of our yard while playing outside with my girls and the rear of a tire hit him. He had a broken hip, but has he healed so well and is able to walk, run, and play. He cannot jump high like he used to. He cannot jump to get on furniture as he used to. In the recent years, my daughters and myself have gotten sick more often than normal. One of my daughters ended up having to get her tonsils and adenoids removed, but still gets very congested. After getting allergy tested, it reflects that we are all highly allergic to dogs. Although we are now taking allergy shots, I am told that we have to go through a five-year series to improve our allergies and as much as we love Saint, with our school and work attendance being impacted significantly, we are making the tough decision to rehome him.
