Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/. Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Landenberg, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Lucas! Lucas is a 10-year-old, 11 lb., Yorkie mix who was brought to a shelter as a stray. He was suffering from an upper respiratory infection and bad teeth and really needed someone to watch over him. Lucas came into rescue and received a neuter, dental, and medication for his infection. Feeling so much better, with far fewer teeth, he loves his mealtimes. Lucas has the beginning of eye decline but has no trouble finding his way. He has good hearing, walks well on a leash, and gets along well with dogs and kids. Lucas is almost fully potty trained and wears belly bands on occasion. He can handle stairs and enjoys being picked up. Lucas doesn’t like to be crated but is a very good boy when left on his own. He is a talker, and has a lot to say, so a single family home would be ideal for him. Lucas has a medium energy level and loves his toys. Balls, squeakers, and bones are all a must for this pup. Lucas greatly enjoys going on walks, snuggling with his people, and getting belly rubs. He will also demand some good lap time. Lucas likes to sleep in bed and promises to keep you warm this winter. Can you please find room for him in your home? Apply today!

Story
We have a transport trip to the east coast leaving CA arriving on 10/25/24 that we are personally taking our dogs on. We have stops in OH, PA, NJ, and CT. We would love to add Princess to our trip for the right home! Her adoption fee/travel is due when we arrive in person with Princess, for peace of mind on your end❤️ Meet Princess. She is a purebred yorkie. She is 1 year and 3 months of age. She weighs 8.4 lbs. Yes, she is full grown and at a healthy weight. She is spayed, current on vaccines, microchipped, and has been thourely examined by our vet to find a home all her own ❤️ She is house trained, and goes outside to use the restroom as needed throughout the day always with supervision to her smaller size and the wildlife we have present here. She is crate trained, and currently sleeps in a crate at night. She has NO problem sleeping in a bed aside your at night, or in bed with you. The choice really would be dependent on her new adopting family because she is easy to please ❤️ She is leash trained, and does very well on her walks. She stays by your side, and always looks to you for guidence. She isn't one to pull you, or stray far at all. She is very Velcro to her person, and loves to be with them, or near them when she can especially on walks. She is phenomenal with other animals, including cats. She loves to play, and is very docile with other dogs. I would reccomend an equally loving, kind, playmate if any in her next home so that their energy isn't overbearing to hers. She LOVES men, women, and children alike. She is a little shy when meets new people, but warms up VERY quickly, and loves with all that she has 🙂 She is great on road trips around town, and would make a great little traveling partner if you would like the company on the road ❤️ She is NOT a barker at all! She is very quiet, and extremely serene tempered, compassionate, and loyal to her person. She loves everyone, but will always come back to her person and crawl back into their lap or arms for love and reassurance that she is theirs ❤️ She is very well behaved in the home. She is not destructive at all. She listens very well to your expectations of her. She knows basic commands like sit, stay, come, and treat ☺️ She loves a treat here and there especially if they come from the fruit basket 🙃 She is wonderful at the groomers, and loves to be pampered. She has always been an absolute joy when she is there ❤️ Her prior owner had to move out of state back with her family and sadly they wouldn't allow Princess to come with her. She didn't want to leave her behind, but going back home wasn't a choice for her as they needed her there to help care for her mother. Her adoption fee is at the bottom of her adoption listing on our website at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/princess. It covers her spay, vaccines, micorchip/registration, general exam with our vet whcih included her ears, and teeth, an antibiotic shot given to aid in the healing of her spay, the care involved in the time she has been here with us, her grooming costs, and her training we have personally done with her. Travel costs are in addition to her adoption fee pending where you are located and if you need us to come to you for her adoption ❤️

Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from KOP, PA for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit. Meet Linus! Linus is a 14-year-old, 7 lb., Yorkie mix who was surrendered to a shelter when his owner could no longer care for him. Alone and toothless, he was in need of a fresh start. Linus was treated for fleas and had senior bloodwork testing. He has suspected kidney issues, and eats Royal Canin Renal Support food to keep them in check. He requires no medication at the moment, but that could change in the future. Linus has no teeth and a recessed lower jaw, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying mealtimes. He has good vision but is most likely deaf. Linus can use pee pads, sleeps fine through the night, and does well frequently going outside. Like any senior though, he will have the occasional accident. Linus is comfortable being crated when his foster mom is out. He will bark for a minute or two, but settles in quickly. Linus can handle a few stairs and walks well on a leash. He gets along great with other dogs and would love to have some low-energy friends to hang out with. Linus also does well with kids. His ideal home would have people around all the time. Linus loves getting attention. If you need a cuddle buddy, he will be the first in line. Linus really enjoys going on walks, soaking up sunshine, and treats. He wants to be wherever you are, including your bed. Happy to give out kisses and make sure you are never alone, Linus is an amazing pup in need of a home. Can it please be yours? Apply today!
